Ageless Male Max review

Ageless Male Max Review: Ingredients, Dosages, Serving Costs

I stumbled across Ageless Male when checking out my friend’s testosterone supplement, more out of curiosity than anything I my interest was piqued.

It’s my birthday next month and I turn 46. Because I hang out with friends 10 years or younger than me, I am the butt of “old guy” jokes.

So, I was curious why not take a look at some supplements aimed at guys like me in their 40s and 50s.

Ageless Male is a supplement that claims to boost testosterone levels and nitric oxide (NO) to promote improved strength, better mood, reduced belly fat, and better libido (cool – will let the wife know!).

This is the first time looking at a supplement that claims to boost testosterone. I am interested to learn how effective they could be, and ultimately would I even bother taking one like Ageless Male Max.

What is Ageless Male Max?

When I think about testosterone or libido supplements I do cringe, as my immediate thought is nope these don't, or unlikely to work.

That said, these guys have been around for some time and they seem to have a good reputation. And not the fly-by-night supplement companies trying to make a quick buck!

Taking a look at the branding of Ageless Male it looked, well really boring. It looked as if it was a stock brand, with little effort into branding it.

This is just my personal opinion and of course, it doesn’t necessarily equate to what’s inside. At the end of the day how good Ageless Male really is, is completely down to the ingredients inside. But more on that later.

Background on NAC Marketing Company, LLC

Ageless Male is developed by NAC Marketing Company, also known as New Vitality, which started way back in 2005. The company is based in Edgewood, New York.

New Vitality produced a range of supplements for men, women, and even pets. I was interested to see they also do a range of green and red superfoods (check out my other green superfood reviews here).

It seems that they are most well-known for Ageless Male and Super Beta Prostate, a supplement that supports a healthy prostate and urinary tract functioning.

Both brands have been on the market for some time.

They also have an Ageless Male Tonight XL that comes in 12 capsules for when you need a “fast-acting booster”.

Ageless Male Max Ingredients

I took a quick look at the original Ageless Male formula and was not impressed at all. In fact, it looked to be one of the most understated ingredient formulas I have ever seen.

Thankfully, the new and improved Ageless Male Max formula is in a different class altogether.

Ageless Male ingredient supplement label

I have included a picture of the supplement facts label here, but let’s check out the new “groundbreaking” ingredient formula in full.

  • Vitamin D3 (1666 IU)
  • Vitamin B3, Niacin (8mg)
  • Vitamin B6 (1 mg)
  • Vitamin B12 (1.2 mcg)
  • Zinc (15mg)
  • Ashwagandha Root Extract (KSM-66) 328mg
  • NOXPerform proprietary blend (100mg)
Coffee Bean Extract, Green Tea Leaf, Broccoli Floret & Stem Powder, Camu Camu Fruit Powder, Cabbage Palm (Acai) Berry Powder, Turmeric Root Powder, Garlic Bulb Powder, Basil Leaf Powder, Oregano Leaf Powder, Cassia Bark Powder, Carrot Root Powder, European Elder Fruit Powder, Mangosteen Fruit Powder, Black Currant Fruit Extract, Blueberry Fruit Extract, Sweet Cherry Fruit Powder, Blackberry Fruit Powder, Raspberry Fruit Powder, Aronia Prunifolia Fruit Powder, Spinach Leaf Powder, Collards Leaf Powder, Bilberry Fruit Extract, Brassica Oleracea Var. Gemmifera (Brussels) Sprout Powder

One of the key ingredients in Ageless Male Max is the patented root extract of Ashwagandha (KSM-66), 338mg per serving. I have seen this patented form before in a few supplements that I have reviewed (see Lyma Life).

There is also Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Vitamins B6, and Vitamin B12, all of which are crucial in helping the body metabolize and release energy.

The NOXPerform (Spectra) blend was interesting as I had never heard of this before and was surprised to see so many ingredients in this patented proprietary blend – 23 ingredients in total.

How to Take Ageless Male Max

The recommendation is to take two caplets of Ageless Male Max with water, once in the morning and then in the afternoon.

Each bottle contains 60 caplets and so is enough for one month's supply.

Side Effects

Taking Ageless Male Max for any healthy guys should be fine with no serious side effects. If you’re taking any prescription medication, have any medical condition, or have other concerns, then you should certainly speak to your medical professional first.

Does Ageless Male Max Actually Work?

There is essentially one main ingredient (Ashwagandha KSM-66) and a patented ingredient proprietary blend called NOXPerform, and a few vitamins and one mineral in this formula.

I wasn’t blown away by the ingredient profile, to be honest, but its’ way better than the original Ageless Male formula.

Ashwagandha is a very promising ingredient that has shown to be really effective at improving reaction times, task performance, reducing stress, and improving memory when consumed in the right dosages (see heathline).

Aswagandha Root and Powder

The serving size of Ashwagandha when taking two caplets per day would be 656mg is in line with the recommended amount of Ashwagandha is commonly taken in 450–500-mg capsules once or twice daily.

The published clinical trials undertaken by the company that produces KSM-66 show dosages of 450-600mg daily are required – you can see these here on their website.

This is the reason why I include 500mg of Ashwagandha root extract in my greens superfood formula, although not the KSM-66 version.

I have reviewed a number of Ashwagandha only supplements that provide significantly higher dosages for much cheaper than Ageless Male Max, so you may want to check these out.

The NOXPerform proprietary blend is tiny, only 100mg for what is 23 ingredients!

NOXPerform made by Spectra claims to be one of the first scientifically validated combinations of fruit, vegetable, and legume extracts that are meant to increase your production of nitric oxide.

Increasing nitric oxide levels is important as it improves blood flow but it's included in this formula to improve erectile function.

There is never going to be enough of each of these ingredient in the NOXPerform proprietary blend to do much, if anything.

Readers of my blog will know, that I really dislike Proprietary blends for the simple reason that we can never be sure of the dosage amounts of each ingredient.

Whilst there are benefits to having fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants for health, supplements looking to enhance nitric oxide levels tend to use L-citrulline, and in dosages of several grams – not 100mg!

There is never going to be enough of each of these ingredients in the NOXPerform proprietary blend to do much if anything. So, this proprietary blend is severely under-dosed, which means it’s window dressing and little else.

Ageless Male Max Customer Reviews

There is a lot of customer feedback on Ageless Male Max on the official websites and third-party vendors like Amazon.

Reviews on the official site are almost exclusively positive, as you would expect. Amazon reviews are currently showing a 3.9 out of 5 rating.

I wanted to give fair and balanced feedback and so show a cross-section of customer reviews.

I have tried other pills both more and less costly. Ageless Male had virtually no effect, while the new formula in Ageless Male Max works great. After only a few days I could see a difference. Less pain, and better feeling, as well as increased functioning. Amazon 4 stars

Jury is still out. After 3 months of use, I feel better and stay pretty active for 60. Little weight loss, though. Amazon 3 stars

Horribly disappointed, these are just overpriced vitamins that don't work. I have been taking them as directed for over two weeks, and nothing. Save your money guys, they don't work. Amazon 1 star

Money Back Guarantee / Returns Policy

There is a 30-day returns policy on the New Vitality website, only vendors' returns policies vary so be sure to check this prior to purchasing.

Where to Buy Ageless Male Max?

You can buy from the official website and other third-party vendors (Walmart, CVS, RiteAid, Walgreens, The Vitamin Shoppe). I mostly recommend getting from the official store where possible to ensure you’re covered by any returns policy.

Every single bottle costs $49.95 but multi-bottle options are available that can work out cheaper per bottle. For example, 3 bottles at $129.95 or 6 bottles at $239.70.

There is a shipping charge from the official websites of $6.99 for one bottle and $8.99 for two or more.

You can also buy directly from Amazon.com, so if you’re a Prime member would save on the shipping cost.

FREE BOTTLE PROMOTION: I should mention that a free trial is also available where you just pay $6 for shipping. I didn't go through this process but would recommend reading ALL the small print before signing up. It's very likely you will be auto-enrolled into a monthly subscription programme where you will be sent out another bottle within a certain period of time. Of course, you will be automatically billed the FULL PRICE at this point.

Is It Worth the Price?

In short, probably really.

You are essentially just paying for the Aswagandha KSM-66 as this is the only ingredient that will have any benefit in the formula.

Considering the many options to get this ingredient either directly, or to find similar versions of this patented ingredient, then it makes more sense to look elsewhere.

There are many Aswagandha-based supplements and other better formulas on the market that contain this alongside other powerful proven ingredients.

Ageless Male Max Verdit

Getting closer to 50 years of age I have certainly noticed the impact of getting older. Much of this I attributed to having kids in my late thirties, they are draining and the sleep deprivation has taken its toll.

That said, despite noticeably looking and feeling older, I am no inclined to reach for the testosterone pills or potions just yet, if ever.

I have reservations with most over-the-counter supplements in terms of ingredient choices but in most cases, it’s the ingredient amounts that are the issue. Most supplements underdose, which is why I believe most won’t match the marketing claims made.

It’s the last point that I believe will let both Ageless Male and the Max versions down. It’s the Ashwagandha KSM-66 ingredient in this formula that is doing all the heavy lifting. The research on this is fairly solid and so there will be benefits to taking this ingredient daily.

So in conclusion, for me I have no need to take Ageless Male Max to only consume Ashwagandha, as I get this every day when I drink my SuperGreen TONIK greens drink. This provides me the clinical dose of 500mg in each serving, alongside 14 other ingredients such as Chlorella, Spirulina, and Rhodiola Rosea.

  1. Hi Adam, Ageless Male and Ageless Male Max do work. I have been working out for basically my whole life. I’m genetically thin at 48 years old (165lbs) 5’10” and I don’t really eat a bodybuilder diet but eat fairly health conscious. Don’t really know if my test levels are low but when I started taking either one of these sup’s I immediately noticed great energy and felt more enthusiasm to train. I experienced more strength and power, broke my repetition goals every week on lifts with adding more weight as well. I also experienced way more erections than usual. But this is the clincher—- when I give it a rest for let’s say a month, I don’t have the same vitality I did when I was taking the supplements. Lower energy, less enthusiasm and drive. This to me is a sure sign that these supplements do what they are advertising. I must admit the original version works a fraction less than the Max but not buy much. O, another thing is that I’m also a Union Ironworker doing heavy construction work all day, so I need a little something like this in order to hit the gym at least 3 times a week. If I can tell it works, I believe they really do.
