#1 SuperGreen TONIK (Best Greens Powder Overall)

Adam with SuperGreen TONIK tub

SuperGreen TONIK is not your average greens powder it promotes full body and mind health.

Supergreen TONIK is very much, less is more.

There are only 15 ingredients (and 18 vitamins/minerals) in the formula and each one contains the minimum effective dose (or more) to get the maximum benefit.

This means you only need to take one serving per day.

Instead of buying several supplements and remembering to take each one every day, it just takes 20 seconds to prepare my greens drink mix with cold water.

All the vegetables, vitamins and minerals, and more per serving that I need for the day, sorted!

There is also a fantastic 365-day money-back guarantee, which is rarely seen amongst the leading greens powders instore or online.

  • Packed with 15 superfoods in clinical dosages to fuel your body and mind
  • Full transparency labelling – know what you’re taking
  • Refreshing and tasty in water or smoothies
  • 365-day money-back guarantee

  • Not the most affordable

* Full transparency I disclose that I own this brand.

#2 Athletic Greens Ultimate Daily (Best Tasting Greens Powder)

Athletic greens my honest review

Athletic greens are one of the first green superfoods I came across and what started my interest in these products. I am very much a fan of this brand, I enjoy the taste and like what the company is doing.

What I didn’t like is the lack of ingredient transparency and for the cost of a one-month supply really wanted to know exactly what I was taking.

This is one of the most expensive brands on the greens market and claims to be the ultimate daily supplement that includes superfoods, antioxidants, digestive enzymes, probiotics, and even mushrooms in one daily scoop.

If money is not an issue and you don’t mind NOT knowing the exact ingredient breakdown then this all-around greens powder could be a good choice. Budget, not an issue then you can’t go far wrong with Athletic greens.

  • Contains 75 ingredients, including probiotics
  • Vegan friendly
  • Tastes great in water or smoothies
  • Popular with athletes

  • Proprietary blend, no full disclosure of ingredient amounts
  • Not the most affordable

#3 Vibrant Health Green Vibrance (Best Value Greens Powder)

Green Vibrance Green Superfood powder

I would rate Green Vibrance in my top 3 green superfoods on the market if for a couple of negative points. There is a lot to like about this green powder superfood from Vibrant Health!

First off, there are lots of ingredients in Green Vibrance (70 in total) but thankfully all the ingredients revealed, including their amounts, on the label.

I quite like Green Vibrance, I even enjoyed the taste. The downside for me was the sheer number of ingredients means that the dosage amount was on the low side. This means you would need to take 2-3 servings per day to get a decent serving of some ingredients.

The last negative is the trace amounts of milk and soy, and the fact they use a highly-processed vanilla flavor. Sort of reminds of those pre-workout vanilla powders!

  • Contains 70 ingredients, full transparency labelling
  • Budget friend greens powder
  • Okay taste

  • Dosage a little low on some ingredients
  • Taking 2-3 servings per day dramatically increases daily cost

#4 Organifi Green Juice

Organifi green juice review

Also very popular is Organifi Green Juice that has been developed by charismatic health blogger and youtube personality Drew Canole, who for years promoted the health benefits of juicing. These days he promotes his line of superfood powders from green, red, and even gold juices!

Each 9 gram serving of Organic Green Juice contains an organic alkaline green and a superfood blend. They are wrapped in proprietary blends so we don’t know the exact amount of each ingredient, which is frustrating as it’s important to know what we are taking.

I like the brand but feel a little let done on the ingredient transparency side. There is a 60-day money-back guarantee and regular discounts on offer for the tubs.

  • Packed with 12 superfoods
  • USDA Certified Organic
  • Okay taste

  • Proprietary blend, no full disclosure of ingredient amounts
  • Not the most affordable

#5 Amazing Grass Organic Green Superfoods

Amazing Grass Green Superfood

This Amazing Grass Green Superfood is popular with consumers on a budget. There is a wide range of flavors on offer in different sizes too, so you should be able to find one you like.

Many of the ingredients are Organic and the usual suspects are inside, however, the supplement label is lacking in nutritional information with no details of individual ingredient amounts.

One real downside is the unnecessary filler or anti-caking agent called silica that’s included.

The taste is okay, it certainly has more of a “grassy” taste than most of the other Super Greens I have tried. But at this price point, this could be easily overlooked.

  • Over 20 ingredients, including probiotics
  • Choice of flavors
  • Budget friendly

  • Proprietary blend, no full disclosure of ingredient amounts
  • Tastes a little grassy
  • Serving size small

#6 Nested Naturals Super Greens

Nested Naturals Super Greens

This green superfood powder will appeal to budget-conscious shoppers looking to ensure they get their daily greens. Nested Naturals is a very trustworthy looking brand and certainly appeals to the socially-conscious shoppers.

Each tub contains 8-gram servings of 32 ingredients that are 100% organic, non-GMO, and vegan. A mixture of greens, antioxidants, fiber, and probiotic blend all within separate proprietary blends – so again no clue as to their exact ingredient breakdown, disappointing.

Then again the price of each tub is cheap and so if you can overlook the uncertainty over the effectiveness of this supplement this may be worth a shot to top up your diet.

  • Over 20 ingredients, including probiotics and digestive enzymes
  • 100% organic, non-GMO and vegan
  • Budget friendly

  • Proprietary blend, no full disclosure of ingredient amounts
  • Some ingredients under-dosed
  • Serving size small

#7 Yuri Elkaim Energy Greens

Yuri Energy Greens

Yuri Elkaim is a health advocate who developed Energy Greens also with the principle of less is more. Focusing just on eight greens his organic greens powder actually tastes pretty good too.

Although this is a great choice the ingredient amounts aren’t revealed on the label and so it’s unclear if the nutrient breakdown. This is a shame as I really like what Yuri is doing with this brand, and could be one of the better superfood supplements on the market.

Yuri Elkaim Energy Greens is also one of the few brands that provide a 365-day money-back guarantee.

My last observation is that the price is on the high side considering you don’t get to know exactly what’s inside. Even still the sheer amount of health content by Yuri gives me a degree of confidence in this product.

  • Less is more approach with 8 organic ingredients
  • Tastes is good
  • 365-day money-back guarantee

  • Not the most affordable
  • Proprietary blend, no full disclosure of ingredient amounts

#8 Kylea Health & Energy Total Living Drink (Best Greens Powder for Protein)

Kylea Health - Total Living Greens Drink

Kylea’s Total Living Drink stands out from the other favorite greens powders as it doubles up as a protein powder too. Along with a healthy combination of greens and fruits, you have 11 grams of protein and 10 grams of carbs in each serving.

Kylea Health and Energy is a good option if you’re looking for a hybrid greens powder that can act as a meal replacement too.

Taste-wise it’s more like a protein powder than a green drink powder, which considering the taste of most super greens this is a big plus.

I should confess I am not much of a fan of the brand, it looks dated and for me doesn’t look like a premium brand, but don’t be too quick to dismiss Kylea Greens drink.

It also on the pricey side at $100 per packet and you have shipping costs on top. There are a lot of ingredients inside though, and the serving size is a hefty 40gms!

  • Greens and meal replacement (40 gram serving size)
  • Doubles as protein shake (11 grams of protein)
  • Tastes good

  • Price on the high side
  • Proprietary blend, no full disclosure of ingredient amounts

#9 Detox Organics Green Superfood Powder

Detox Organics daily superfood pouches

This green drink mix is very much marketed towards the dieting audience with the emphasis on fat loss along with easing digestion and increasing energy levels.

Most of the testimonials are of women who have successfully lost weight and helped digestive issues using Detox Organics.

Each serving size is 13 grams and considering the proprietary blend takes up just over 8 grams means there is a good size of the formula devoted to the chocolate flavoring. Checking the carbohydrate content confirms this as the chocolate flavoring is mostly carb-based.

I am not a fan of taking a chocolate-flavored greens superfood. To me, it seems more like I am drinking a chocolate smoothy and not something that is supposed to be healthy for me. But I am prepared to admit this could be just my preference, as clearly this brand has a loyal following.

The inclusion of digestive enzymes and probiotics (including prebiotic nutrients) means it’s a green drink (albeit a brown one) to be worthy of consideration.

My one reservation though, is that the ingredient amounts are hidden within three proprietary blends and so I am not confident that enough of each will be available in just one serving per day.

  • Chocolate greens powder with 25 superfoods
  • Boasts over 250k customers
  • Chocolate fans may like the taste

  • Proprietary blend, no full disclosure of ingredient amounts

What are Green Superfood Powders?

Greens powders are supplements that are mostly made from powdered greens, vegetables, and often include other antioxidant dense nutrients, sometimes probiotics and digestive enzymes, and even protein powder.

They make eating these nutrient-dense wholefoods easier as you can conveniently consume them by mixing them with water or make your own green drink smoothies.

Plant-based supplements that contain organic fruit and vegetables are getting more popular each year. I began consuming green powders as nutritional insurance back in late 2018, and rarely skip a day!

I know that per serving of superfood powder I make sure I consume all the vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, brain, and immune system nutrients in one scoop.

Benefits of Green Superfood Supplements

We know it’s important to eat well and consume a balanced diet each day, so what can consuming these super-concentrated green powder supplements do for us?

You can find the scientifically-relevant benefits of individual ingredients you can commonly find in the best green powders in sites like Healthline, Examine, and WebMD. Many highlight the antioxidant, phytonutrients found in the ingredients used in these supplements.

Improved Energy Levels

These phytonutrients antioxidant-packed green powders can really pack a punch, providing a natural alternative to caffeine-based drinks, without the crash.

Immune Support

A strong immune system is important in today’s global environment. The nutrient-dense greens contain the fundamental building blocks of a strong immune system often containing lots of vitamins, minerals, and other healthy nutrients.

The effectiveness to fight sickness will depend on the type and dosage of ingredients in the formula. Taking a greens powders for immunity was one of the main reasons I first started looking at these powder supplements.

Mental Clarity and Well-being

Some brands contain brain nutrients that can improve memory, concentration, mental clarity, and overall brain health.

Green formulas containing herbs called adaptogens can also help you adapt to stress and reduce anxiety, which means a calmer and more relaxed day.

Improved Digestion and Bloating

A great diet depends on being able to absorb the nutrients in your gut and this is where digestive enzymes and probiotics play a role.

The addition of fiber in greens can also help with having more regular bowel movements too!

The effects of acute and chronic inflammation on the body have severe consequences for healthy living. Consuming a good quality greens powder for inflammation can be just the longer-term support to consume anti-inflammatory ingredients for your health.

Weight Loss

Most superfood supplements see weight management as more a secondary benefit that can work by eliminating cravings, and so naturally suppressing your appetite. Some superfood powders can aid weight loss better than others, check the link for my round-up of best products.

How To Choose A Good Greens Powder?

It’s clear from the benefits that consuming a daily greens drink is worth considering, but just how do you go about picking the best greens powders?

Firstly, don’t be bamboozled by marketing speak and what seem like amazing deals, it’s important to look beyond the hype and understand what you’re really putting inside your body.

Remember, not all green superfood supplements are the same.

Supplement companies are really clever at promoting their elixir of health be it in a pill or powder. When I delved into different green superfood supplements in my reviews I often felt let down and that the product was lacking in substance.

This was my motivation to create the best greens powder brand on the market, the outcome of which was SuperGreen TONIK. I address what SHOULD BE the important factors to consider when taking ANY supplement, not just a green powder.

IMPORTANT Considerations When Choosing Greens Superfood

  • Ingredients and Amounts – The effectiveness of any supplement is based on its ingredients and amounts in the formula. Each ingredient should be present in the minimum effective dosage in order to work
  • Serving Size – Following on from the ingredient amount point, a small serving size and lots of ingredients means it is unlikely to contain enough of each to be as effective as stated
  • Ingredient Transparency – I want to know exactly what I am taking, so a full list of each ingredient and their amounts on the label
  • Cost Effective – I don’t tend to reach for the cheapest brand in anything as I believe in value. Sometimes the upfront cost may seem expensive when in fact it works out to be most cost effective
  • Money-back Guarantee – It’s reassuring when a company stands behind their brand. Ideally want to see a guarantee of some sort, the longer the better
  • Good Taste – It needs to taste at least okay, ideally the powder should be palatable when mixed just with cold water
  • Company Pedigree – Not essential this one, but I think it is nice to know who is behind the company

Only one green superfood powder ticks every box in the list above, and for good reason. My supplement was developed based on the core principles above.

But, please don’t just take my word for it, take a look for yourself, visit and see for yourself.

Frequently asked Questions

If superfood powders or powdered greens are new to you then you may have a few questions. Let me address some of the frequently asked greens powder questions here.

Are Green Supplements Worth It?

They can be as long as you buy a good quality supplement that contains ingredients in the right dosage.

The highest quality greens powder is not cheap though, because they should contain a good amount of nutrients. The cost can be anywhere between $50 – $97 per month for popular brands.

Whether the cost of investing in a supplement is worth it for you, will depend on your lifestyle, and if you eat a well balanced and nutritious diet.

Should I take super green?

A powdered green supplement can be a great way to improve your overall health and wellbeing because they contain vitamins, minerals, oxidants, and in many cases other beneficial nutrients you may not get in your diet.

Greens powders are often considered much better than multivitamins as they are more nutrient-dense.

Are powdered greens as good as fresh?

You can never fully replace fresh greens from your own garden. That’s not to say that greens powders aren’t a healthy way to get nutrients into our bodies.

Ideally, you should consume superfood supplements alongside a varied and healthy diet rich in fruit and vegetables. Taking superfoods alongside your regular diet is the best way to ensure you’re consuming your required intake of greens.

Can a Greens Supplement Boost My Immunity?

Many of the top greens powders contain ingredients that have been proven to support your immune system and can help to fight off the flu.

As well as supplying vitamins like A, B, C, E, K, and other minerals, you often have plenty of antioxidants and phytonutrients too.

If your deficit in these nutrients then having one of these daily green drinks can act as a nutritional insurance.

Best time to have greens powder?

There is no one best time to consume a greens powder as this depends very much on your schedule. If you are following an intermittent fasting schedule then you would need to have your greens powder during your eating window.

Having your greens powder drink first thing in the morning is popular with many consumers as they feel it sets them up for the day ahead.

Do powdered greens expire?

Like all supplements, greens powders have an expiry date that is typically two years from the manufacturing date. After this two-year shelf life, the greens will become less potent and beneficial.

All greens supplements should have had either a manufactured date or expiry date on their label. So, if you’re in doubt check your greens label or reach out to the manufacturer to check.

Remember, Don’t neglect good nutrition!

Creating my Super Greens Supplement

Whilst there are great choices available now for supplementing your veggies with power supplements, this doesn’t mean you can forget a balanced diet.

The best way to look at superfood supplements is to keep in mind the word “supplement” – they are not in place of a good quality varied diet.

I take my supplement every day not just to top-up my greens but to get other ingredients not typically found in your everyday diet. Ingredients such as Ashwagandha Root and Rhodiola Rosea have proven benefits for improving productivity, reducing levels of perceived stress, and numerous health benefits too.

If you find your diet is lacking sometimes or you want to always ensure you are getting your optimal greens each day, then choosing one of these superfood powders could be just the answer.

  1. I have been taking the morning complete and find it to give me terrible, gas, bloating and belly pressure. What would you recommend in lieu of this product that will not cause these digestive issues. Thank so much!!

  2. Is it ok to consume green superfoods and coffee in the same? I’m looking to introduce one of these options to my supplements routine but don’t want to overpower my energy supplement with my drinking coffee every morning. Do you think I’d be okay if I did the super greens midday several hours after my coffee?

    1. Hey Melisa,
Thank you for commenting and apologies for taking so long to reply (I miss it!).
I would space out the timing for consuming greens and coffee. I typically take my greens in the afternoon as I enjoy taking it then. I also tend to follow intermittent fasting and so just black coffee in the morning.
Otherwise, you could grab your coffee if you prefer first thing and then have a greens mid-morning would also work well.

  3. Superfood powders and greens can help you to lose weight if they are combined with a healthy diet and fitness regime. If taken before a meal, studies find that super greens can improve your probiotics, digestion and also increase satiety, helping you to feel fuller.

    1. Thanks Eric,
That’s right, there are no magic slimming cures. Powdered greens are a great way to top-up with all your nutrients, more than you would just taking a multivitamin capsule, and they are low in calories too (typically 40-50 kcals per serving).

  4. Hi Adam. Thanks for publishing this list. I am always looking for the best things to put into my body. When I was reviewing your list I noticed that you did not have a certain brand on your list. Are you familiar with Vitamineral Green? It is manufactured by Healthforce Superfoods. It has a lot of positive customer reviews but I haven’t noticed any expert reviews. I’ve been trying it and like it, but am curious if you have tested it or reviewed it.
