BPN Strong Reds Review: Benefits, Drawbacks, And Comparison

BPN Strong Reds is one of the few reds powders on the market that’s specifically made for strength athletes.

It’s also one of the many reds powders on the market that claims to be the best red superfood powder.

But does Strong Reds deliver along either of these lines? Let’s take a closer look at the product’s pros, cons, and ingredients list and try to find out.

The Brand Behind Strong Reds

Strong Reds is made by Bare Performance Nutrition (BPN for short). I have previously reviewed another supplement from BPN called Strong Greens.

BPN started in 2012 when college student Nick Bare was studying nutrition and getting geared up for military service. Nick served as a US Army infantryman and Platoon Leader for the next four years.

The leadership and integrity gleaned from his time in the military were directly applied to Bare Performance Nutrition.

Nick’s military experience also shaped his brand’s motto: “go one more.”

“‘GO ONE MORE’ is a way of life,” the brand explains on their About page.

It drives everything we do and everything we strive to accomplish. ‘GO ONE MORE’ is meant to push you beyond what you think your mind and body is capable of. It is not just something you apply once. It compounds. Push yourself daily to run a little further, train a little harder, learn a little more and over time those things compound to facilitate your progression forward.

What are BPN Strong Reds?

BPN Strong Reds is a superfood reds powder comprised of antioxidant-rich fruit extracts and digestive enzymes.

This blend is designed to support immunity and cellular energy production.

The digestive enzymes present may increase the bioavailability of this blend’s other nutrients, at least in theory.

Each canister contains 30 1-scoop servings.

Pros

  • Mostly disclosed ingredients
  • Scientifically-backed blends
  • Strong customer service
  • Great customer reviews
  • Tested for athlete-prohibited substances
  • 30-day no-questions-asked, money-back guarantee

Cons

  • Some proprietary blends
  • Not super affordable

Strong Reds: Its Ingredients and Their Benefits

Strong Reds contains a wide variety of active ingredients — some of which have been scientifically studied and patented by BPN.

Here’s a closer look at the highlights.

Acai Powder

Acai powder is made from acai berry, a South American fruit harvested from acai palm trees.

This powder’s incredibly high polyphenol antioxidant content makes it able to reduce oxidative stress and increase energy levels. Acai consumption is even correlated with increased athletic recovery. (Source)

Inulin

Inulin is a prebiotic fiber that’s known to improve digestion.

Bare Performance Nutrition sources their inulin from one of nature’s best sources of it: the Jerusalem artichoke.

Inulin may also be able to increase your digestive tract’s good bacteria count. This ability gives it more benefits than expected; inulin consumption has even been correlated with increased insulin sensitivity.

Acerola Fruit Extract

The acerola fruit is one of nature’s best sources of vitamin C — far higher in this immunity-boosting antioxidant than oranges or other citrus fruits.

Its vitamin C content gives acerola the ability to support innate immunity and respiratory health. (Source)

CherryPURE®

CherryPURE® is a patented blend of special antioxidants called anthocyanins.

These pigmented antioxidants are what give cherries their rich red color. They’re also what give cherries many of their best health benefits.

Anthocyanins may work as a broad-spectrum workout enhancer, increasing blood flow and vascular function.

Pomegranate Extract

Pomegranate Extract is another great antioxidant source. It’s also loaded with B vitamins, potassium, and non-heme iron.

Beet Juice Root Powder

While cherries contain anthocyanins, beets contain betacyanins. These antioxidant pigments may help your body keep its inflammation levels in check.

Blueberry Extract Powder

Blueberry extract also contains high levels of anthocyanins.

Noticing a trend here yet?

Blueberry extract is known for its potential ability to improve both heart health and cognitive function.

Cranberry Powder

Cranberry Powder is another antioxidant source that may improve urinary tract health in particular.

Papaya Powder

Papaya powder is a naturally-amazing source of digestive enzymes.

Once consumed, these enzymes go to work assisting with digestion, scar tissue healing, and general cellular recycling/regeneration. Papaya powder may also promote better skin and hair health.

Red Raspberry Powder

Red raspberry powder is rich in vitamin C, non-heme iron, and B vitamins.

Spectra™

This is Strong Reds’ second patented blend.

This blend contains dozens of herb and plant extracts/powders/concentrates, many of them in small quantities.

One potential drawback of Spectra’s™ blend is that it’s proprietary — none of its individual ingredients list their quantity. Given that the full weight of the blend is only 100 milligrams, we can deduce that some of these ingredients must be present in extremely small amounts.

But Spectra’s™ secretive status may not be as much of a drawback as proprietary blends usually are.

Why?

Because a study involving this very same 100mg dose of Spectra™ found that it increased NO levels by 64%!

It also increased oxygen consumption on the cellular level, implying increased sports performance. We may not know exactly how much ingredient X or ingredient Y this blend contains…but at least we know that it works. (Source)

DigeSEB Enzyme Blend

DigeSEB is yet another proprietary blend, this one is comprised of 13 distinctive types of digestive enzymes.

The full blend weighs 15 milligrams, and once again, we can’t know exactly how much of each enzyme is present.

In theory, DigeSEB should improve digestion, nutrient absorption, and food intolerances, but since things aren’t fully disclosed, we just can’t be fully sure.

Strong Reds: Other Benefits

All in all, Strong Reds may:

  • Support increased energy production
  • Support cleaner-burning energy production
  • Aid digestion and nutrient absorption
  • Support a healthy immune system
  • Fill in the nutritional gaps that may exist within one’s diet

How to Take Strong Reds

The folks at Bare Performance Nutrition recommend taking Strong Reds once per day. They recommend mixing it into 8-10 ounces of cold water.

Many of our customers like to mix 1 scoop of Strong Reds with 1 scoop of Strong Greens.

They explain in hopes of experiencing additional benefits.

You can also mix Strong Reds into red smoothies (or green smoothies, if you don’t mind the odd color combinations that result).

You can even mix it into juices or sports drinks if you want a little more nutrient diversity on the go.

Strong Reds: What Customers Say

As of July 2022, Strong Reds has 2,954 reviews on its company website.

That’s a pretty favorable distribution, implying that customers are very happy with Strong Reds.

One customer loves the taste, while noting it’s a little early to expect fitness improvements:

Solely based my review on taste and mixability, and both are incredible. In order to provide a thorough review, I feel I need two more weeks of use. I will also substantiate my review with bloodwork and ZYTO Scan results. Overall, at this stage, I’m not noticing any performance increases […]

Strong Reds is one of the few products that has fewer Amazon reviews than it does website reviews.

The product still fairs well there, however, coming in at 667 reviews at a very solid average of 4.7 stars each.

Amazon customers also seem to love the taste, though one questions Strong Reds’ cost:

Admittedly I would like for it to cost less. My third container of it will be delivered today. And yes, when you open it, it is nowhere near full, but using one scoop as directions say it will last a month. Just like it says 30 servings. The taste is the best that I have tried of these types of products. I have had digestive issues for years until Super Reds. It's the first thing I drink every morning. And on occasion thanks to Super Reds I can have a piece of fried chicken for lunch without suffering later!

How Much do Strong Reds Cost?

Strong Reds cost $39.99 per 30-serving/30-day container.

That’s a little pricier than some of the other reds powders we’ve reviewed. The price drops to $35.99 — a 10% discount — if you subscribe.

And just in case you’re not satisfied with it, Strong Reds also comes with a 30-day no-questions-asked, money-back guarantee.

Strong Reds: Where to Buy

You can buy Strong Reds on BPN’s website here. You can also buy Strong Reds on Amazon here.

Strong Reds: My Verdict

All in all, Strong Reds seems like a very solid product produced by an equally solid brand. It's why it makes an appearance on many best reds powder list, but it wouldn't be my first choice!

It'd be an excellent product if it could only ditch the propriety blends!

On the bright side, though, one of these proprietary blends is quantifiably effective. That allows us to give Strong Reds our stamp of approval despite its sometimes-secretive labeling.
