Can Super Greens Powders Fight The Flu?

With winter coming to the northern hemisphere very soon, people are already thinking about ways to reduce their likelihood of getting the flu and experiencing sniffly noses and sore throats.

One of the best ways to reduce your likelihood of getting ill or being struck down by flu is by ensuring you are receiving the necessary amount of essential nutrients every day, and there’s no better or easier way to do this than consuming a greens powder!

Greens powders, packed with an array of potent vegetables, grasses, herbs, and extracts, are a quick and easy way to make sure your nutritional intake is covered. This is the big one for me, as since suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome my immune system has been terrible. Any cold going around and I would pick it up!

Obviously, the body needs to be at an optimum level of health to defend itself from illnesses, but it’s also vital that the immune system is specifically targeted so that the likelihood of getting sick is low.

Vitamin A, C, and E are three specific vitamins that increase the strength of the immune system. Super greens such as kale, spinach, moringa, and spirulina contain high amounts of these vitamins, meaning that a greens powder that contains these ingredients (substantially dosed, of course) will boost the immune system.

Antioxidants, and a reduced level of radical change in cells, is essential if you are going to not only ward off the flu but fight it too.

Super greens formulas typically contain a vast number of ingredients, and although each ingredient does provide health benefits and aid to fight illnesses, there are some specific ones that you should look out for if you’re trying to fight off the flu.

Spinach

Spinach is incredibly high in vitamin C, Vitamin K, iron, and calcium. It boosts the immune system, reduces oxidative stress, and provides the body with antioxidants to protect cells from radical damage.

Kale

Moringa

Garlic

Although not all greens powders include garlic, garlic is an incredibly potent ingredient that helps fight and combat illness. Garlic has powerful antibacterial properties, reduces inflammation, reduces symptoms of the common cold, and is packed with antioxidants.

Olive Leaf

Just like with garlic, olive leaf isn’t actually a typical greens powder ingredient. However, olive leaf reduces inflammation, attacks infections, and reduces symptoms of the common cold.
