Four Sigmatic Protein with Superfoods Review

Four Sigmatic Superfood Protein Review

Superfood Protein is a protein powder that contains functional mushrooms and adaptogens, produced by the well-renowned and incredibly popular supplement brand Four Sigmatic.

The formula is the perfect plant-based alternative to whey protein that not only provides you with a substantial dose of protein but also provides you with a wide range of functional mushrooms and adaptogens.

This mixture of intriguing ingredients is supposed to support the repair of the muscles, boost immune function, support focus and mental clarity, and more.

The formula is suitable for a wide range of people, as it’s 100% USDA certified organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan.

I’m really keen to take a closer look at this formula and see if the hype that circles around this product and this brand is actually justified!

Four Sigmatic Superfood Protein First Impressions

I’m really impressed by the Four Sigmatic brand and the Superfood Protein formula at first glance at the website. The brand looks forward-thinking, modern, sleek, and professional – all things I look for in brands.

However, it’s not just the branding of the site that looks impressive, it’s also packed with informative content which is super beneficial for potential customers.

The Superfood Protein formula looks interesting, especially since I assumed the protein formula was going to be packed with traditional superfoods but is actually packed with adaptogenic mushrooms! I’m also intrigued by the packaging – the formula comes in a can!

I’m definitely keen to take a closer look at the formula to see if it really is as forward-thinking as it seems.

Background on Four Sigmatic Superfood Protein

Four Sigmatic was founded in 2012 by Tero Isokauppila and Mikko Revonniemi. The pair, from Finland, originally started the brand there and expanded to the US in 2015, where the company is now based.

The brand specializes in creating products made from functional mushrooms that have been used for centuries in traditional Eastern medicine and provide incredible health benefits.

With annual revenues of $61.7 million, the brand has certainly taken the health world by storm with it’s mushroom formulas! The most popular products sold by Four Sigmatic are the Mushroom Ground Coffee, the Cacao Mix, and the Superfood Protein.

Four Sigmatic Superfood Protein Benefits

Four Sigmatic doesn’t just provide information about the overall benefits of the formula, but instead actually goes into great depth about the different benefits associated with each ingredient that exists within the formula.

The brand claims that the plant-based protein in the formula will support rebuilding, repairing, and supporting overall wellbeing.

In addition, the brand claims that the Chaga will support immune function, the Lion’s Mane will support focus and clarity, the Cordyceps will improve endurance, the Turkey’s Tail pushes toxins from the body, the Ashwagandha will reduce stress and fatigue, and the Eleuthero will support stamina.

Four Sigmatic Superfood Protein Ingredients

The Superfood Protein formula contains 12 ingredients, excluding flavoring ingredients, the majority of which are fully disclosed.

The only ingredients that aren’t fully disclosed are the different types of protein, which all exist within the protein blend.

However, we’ll be taking a closer look at the ingredients and the efficacy of the formula later in this review.

First, let’s take a look at the ingredients list!

Here is the complete list of the Four Sigmatic Superfood Protein ingredients:

How does Four Sigmatic Superfood Protein Taste?

The Superfood Protein formula is available in Peanut Butter, Creamy Cacao, Sweet Vanilla, or Unflavored. The formulas are actually highly regarded for their great taste, with Goop and Women’s Health complimenting the taste!

Looking at customer reviews, some people really love the flavor of the formulas, whereas others, particularly those that purchased the unflavored formula, say that it tastes a little too much like mushrooms for their liking.

Side Effects

Although Four Sigmatic doesn’t state that there are any side effects associated with this formula, the formula does have a Prop 65 warning in the state of California, meaning some of the ingredients within the formula may cause exposure to certain chemicals, including lead, that may lead to health issues.

I would just add that if you are under 18, on medication, or you have a medical condition, you should consult a doctor before consuming this supplement.

Does Four Sigmatic Superfood Protein Work?

The Superfood Protein Powder contains a protein blend, which unfortunately doesn’t show the amount of each specific type of protein. However, the rest of the ingredients are fully disclosed.

Although typically I’m put-off by blends, due to the fact that the overall amount of protein is shown and since the specific types of protein don’t really need to be shown because they don’t have individual recommended doses, I’m not too concerned with the fact that the formula contains this blend.

However, of course, it would’ve been nice to see the amount of each type of protein disclosed.

The formula seems to contain a substantial amount of protein whilst also providing a variety of adaptogenic ingredients.

Nonetheless, this formula contains 28g of protein which is a substantial amount of protein!

The recommended amount of protein per day is 0.36g per pound of body weight.

Therefore, for the average man, this is 56g per day and for the average woman this works out at 46g per day.

Therefore, the amount of protein in this formula is half of a man’s daily recommended protein amount and nearly half for a woman. So, this is definitely a useful amount of protein!

The rest of the ingredients, apart from ashwagandha, don’t actually have standard recommended doses and therefore it’s impossible to know if they meet “recommended amounts”.

However, unfortunately, the amount of ashwagandha within this formula (250mg) doesn’t meet the recommended doses (500-600mg), therefore may not provide the same benefits as if a substantial dose of ashwagandha was in the formula.

The other issue with the ingredients I have is the use of coconut palm sugar, as it’s incredibly high in calories, which could be detrimental to the consumer’s health.

Overall, the formula seems to contain a substantial amount of protein whilst also providing a variety of adaptogenic ingredients.

It would’ve just been great to see the ashwagandha sufficiently dosed and there not to be any coconut palm sugar in the formula!

Four Sigmatic Superfood Protein Reviews

Four Sigmatic Superfood Protein is available on Amazon, and therefore we can take a look on there at unbiased customer reviews. Overall, the formula scores 4.6 stars out of 5 stars, with only one review that’s 2-star and no 1-star reviews!

So, let’s take a look at a selection of these reviews.

Just tried out the Four Sigmatic protein powder. I definitely liked the consistency, it is true that it’s advertised as creamy. I tried it with just pure water as specified and it wasn’t too bad. I just think I will need some adjustment. I got the unflavored powder and I think it would go well with almond milk or hemp milk (what I usually drink). Love the high plant protein 28mg and superfoods! 5-star reviewer

I love four sigmatic and have used their products for years. I am always open to trying new things from them and so got this. I have never tried plant-based protein so keep that in mind. The taste and blending is not great. However, looking at the other reviews plant-based protein may just be really gross and this is the best of the worst. I will stick to my collagen, unflavored protein. Although putting two scoops of raw cacao with it definitely betters the flavor profile. Overall review is “meh”. 3-star reviewer

While it has clean ingredients, it is so expensive for what you get. It basically tastes like unflavored pea protein. Better off buying pea and hemp protein and some mushroom powders and making a mix yourself! You'll save yourself a boatload of money and get the same results! 2-star reviewer

Money-Back Guarantee / Returns Policy

Four Sigmatic offers a 120-day money-back guarantee that is more generous than most greens supplements.

Where to buy Four Sigmatic Superfood Protein?

You can buy the formula from the Four Sigmatic website, or on Amazon, Goop, and Thrivemarket.

Is It Worth The Price?

You can buy Four Sigmatic Superfood Protein formula either in packets and cans, with a ranging number of servings. You can also either sign up for a subscription or buy the product as a one-time purchase.

Obviously, if you sign up for a subscription, the price of the formula reduces.

To keep things simple, we’re going to take a look at the can of the formula that contains 15 servings.

On a one-time purchase, this can costs $50, meaning the cost per serving works out at $1.66.

On a subscription, this can costs $40, meaning the cost per serving works out at $1.33.

Seeing as the formula contains a substantial dose of protein alongside a selection of powerful adaptogens, I would say that the formula is most likely worth this price, in my opinion.

However, for this price, I would have really liked to see the ingredients that do have recommended doses actually reach those amounts. For example, the ashwagandha falls short.

Nonetheless, it’s still a fairly priced formula in my opinion.

My Final Verdict

I really like the Four Sigmatic brand and to a certain degree, I do really like this formula and support it.

I appreciate the mushrooms and protein mix, I like the fact that most of the ingredients are fully disclosed, the formula tastes good, it’s fairly cost-effective, and it has a 120-day money-back guarantee!

My only concerns with this formula are the fact that the ashwagandha in the formula is underdosed and the brand has added 2g of coconut palm sugar which is highly calorific into the formula.

Overall, I do like the formula, I’m just unsure whether I would personally go and purchase it. I think I'd be more inclined to choose a sugar-free, fully disclosed super greens formula and mix it with a high-quality protein.
