INVIGOR8 Sperfood shake Review

INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake Review

INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake is a popular superfood and protein formula that’s been mentioned in several large publications, such as Clean Eating, Runner, and Yoga Journal.

The formula is unlike other superfood formulas that I typically review because it not only contains 20g of whey protein, but it is specifically formulated to help consumers lose weight, enhance fitness performance, and improve their physique.

The superfood formula is vegetarian (unless you are opposed to consuming bovine colostrum), gluten-free, soy-free, hormone-free, sugar-free, and non-GMO, with the brand claiming that it’s a high-quality meal replacement formula containing only the most healthy ingredients.

Seeing as this formula is so popular, both with nutrition magazines and customers, I’m eager to take a closer look and see if it is as good as everyone makes it out to be. If you’re thinking of purchasing the formula, or you’re keen to take a closer look at this popular meal-replacement shake, check out my full INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake below.

What is INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake?

As soon as you get past the pop-ups covering the INVIGOR8 website that I’m not crazy about, the website is impressive, sleek, and professional. From the photos of particularly ripped fitness pros to the weight loss program package, it’s immediately clear that the brand produces fitness-enhancing and weight loss supplements.

There’s a really good amount of informative content on the website, as well as a blog containing a multitude of nutrition articles, links to social platforms, and transparent information about the company, which is all great to see!

Looking at the Superfood Shake formula, I have to say, I’m intrigued by it – the branding is vibrant and punchy, the information about the formula seems in-depth, and the fact that it’s been mentioned in so many publications, such as Men’s Health, is a good sign.

Overall, I’m impressed by the formula at an initial glance, and really looking forward to taking a closer look at it!

Background on INVIGOR8 / Biomedical Research Laboratories (BRL)

INVIGOR8 is a brand within the Biomedical Research Laboratories (BRL) company, which was founded in 2008. In 2014, the company was added to the list of top 500 America's fastest-growing companies, so it’s obviously been a success!

The company specializes in producing sports nutrition supplements, hence the fitness-focused protein Superfood Shake formula.

INVIGOR8 is a popular brand particularly within the US supplement market, with the brand producing a small range of supplements designed to promote good nutrition, boost athletic performance and improve stamina, including the Superfood Shake, Collagen Peptides, and Fat Burner capsules.

INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake Benefits

INVIGOR8 is targeted towards those that are active or want to lose weight, seeing as it’s marketed as a protein shake or meal replacement formula. Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of meal replacement formulas because people tend to take one of these, instead of actually changing their diet and becoming healthier, with the expectation that they will lose weight and keep it off.

Nonetheless, the formula does have a list of health benefits that seem impressive, and the brand clearly shows these on the Superfood Shake product page. Overall, the formula is supposed to help the consumer lose by controlling hunger, reducing body fat, and helping to build lean muscle. It’s also supposed to boost immunity and promote healthy digestion.

The brand also provides some information (albeit minimal) about the ingredients that are associated with the benefits, which is a nice touch. For example, “Dairy-free pre/probiotics for optimal digestive health”.

INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake Ingredients

The INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake contains over 20 ingredients, all of which exist within proprietary blends, apart from the protein powder, bovine colostrum, and inulin.

However, this isn’t the only issue! There are two ingredients lists shown on the formula’s product page, one that you flick through on the shake’s slideshow of photos and one where the brand specifically talks about the ingredient, but these ingredients lists don’t match up!

I’m wondering whether the formula has been recently changed and the brand has forgotten to change their images on the slideshow – not a great start though!

Nonetheless, let’s take a look at the ingredients list that features on the website and on Amazon.

Here is the complete list of INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake ingredients:

  • Pure Protein Complex (20g) – 100% Grass-Fed Whey Protein (Concentrate and Isolate)
  • Prebiotic Fiber Complex (3g) – Chicory Root Extract

How does INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake Taste?

The INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake formula is available in three different flavors – French Vanilla, Triple Chocolate Brownie, and Natural Strawberry. Each flavor is flavored using natural flavors and stevia leaf extract.

The taste of the formula is widely disputed, with some claiming that it leaves a bad after taste and tastes chalky, to others claiming it’s really pleasant! However, one thing that most people agree on is that the formula doesn’t blend well and becomes gritty when mixed in water or milk.

Side Effects

There’s no information about the potential side effects of the formula, and there aren’t any warnings about who shouldn’t take the product, which is a real shame.

I always recommend those with medical conditions, those that are taking medication, breastfeeding or pregnant women, and those who are under 18, to consult a doctor before consuming any new supplement.

I also think it’s important for vegans to know that the formula isn’t suitable for them, seeing as the formula contains bovine colostrum and whey powder.

Does INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake Work?

As mentioned above, the majority of the ingredients in the Superfood Shake formula exist in proprietary blends, meaning rather than the amount of each ingredient being shown, the amount of a blend containing multiple ingredients is shown. This makes it impossible to know how much of each ingredient resides within the formula, and it’s hard to figure out if the formula will actually work.

This obviously isn’t transparent of the brand, and I really dislike when brands use proprietary blends due to the fact that it takes information away from the consumer. Nonetheless, let’s take a look at the formula and try and figure out if it will work or not!

Firstly, let’s look at the amount of protein (this is one of only three ingredients for which amounts are shown). There’s 20g of protein per serving, and this is an adequate amount of protein, as long as the consumer is getting protein in their diet too.

Greens and Protein Powders

On average, most protein powders have a serving size of between 25g-50g, so although this formula is a little short of that, the 20g of protein will still provide benefits to the consumer.

Another ingredient that’s amount is disclosed is chicory root inulin, and benefits of this have been seen when taking 3-5g per day, and seeing as this formula contains 3g of it, that’s also a sufficient dose.

However, the problem occurs when we look at the proprietary blends For example, looking at the greens blend, just one of the ingredients, chlorella, has a recommended serving size of between 2-5g, but the entire blend that contains four other ingredients only equals 2.5g. Therefore, it’s doubtful that these ingredients are sufficiently dosed!

Overall, seeing as the formula is made up of proprietary blends, it’s impossible, as I said above, to accurately say whether a formula will work or not. However, it seems like some of the ingredients may be sufficiently dosed, whereas others (the ones in blends) won’t be. Therefore, consumers may only benefit from some of the formula’s health benefits.

INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake Reviews

INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake is available on Amazon, and there are over 2,000 customer reviews of the formula on there, with consumers reviewing different flavored formulas.

Overall, INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake scores 4.2 stars out of 5 stars, with some of the reviews being extremely positive, and others on the complete another end of the spectrum!

So, let’s take a look at a selection of these reviews below.

I’ve been drinking this shake for a couple of months and I’m really impressed. I drink two shakes a day and exercise by walking and doing yoga. I’ve lost 20 lbs so far. I’m not hungry during the day when I have the shakes and I love the flavor. I eat a normal dinner and absolutely do not cheat on this diet. No sweets or desserts, just a regular dinner. I make sure I drink plenty of water. This shake really works!5-star reviewer

My husband really liked this product, but I found one glaring issue with it. If you do not drink your shake right away it turns very bitter. Other than that it mixes well with little to no grit. The flavor blends well if you are using it in a smoothie, but will become undrinkably bitter in about 30/45 minutes after mixing. I tend to sip on a smoothie during a morning so it doesn’t work for me in that respect. Other than that it is a good product.3-star reviewer

Worst product ever. Do not be misled. I read an article in Men’s Fitness proclaiming that this was the Holy Grail. I am an idiot for believing this ridiculous article. For the promotion artists behind that article, well played. I would think the goal is to have returning customers, not just first time buyers. If you enjoy chalk, go for it. If you enjoy a mixture that does not mix, you have found your champion. If you enjoy spending $60 on the smallest bottle of protein you have ever paid for, this might be your stuff.1-star reviewer

Where to buy INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake?

You can buy INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake from the INVIGOR8 website, Amazon, Walmart, and other online third-party retailers.

SHOP INVIGOR 8

Is It Worth The Price?

One bottle of INVIGOR8 Superfood Shake, regardless of the flavor, contains 15 servings of formula at a serving size of 43g. One bottle costs $59.95, meaning the cost per serving is $4.00.

You can save money by subscribing and purchasing a bundle pack.

If you purchase a pack of two bottles, the cost per serving works out at $3.33, and if you purchase a pack of four bottles, the cost per serving works out at $3.00.

Although this formula is more expensive than a typical superfood formula, this formula does contain 20g of protein per serving, so that’s up the price. However, this is simply too expensive in my eyes – for a month’s servings, you’d be paying $120!

I would also have to see a fully disclosed ingredients label for this price to be acceptable.

INVIGOR8 Superfood: My Verdict

I had high hopes for this formula, especially since it’s been featured in publications and is appreciated by a real mass of people.

On closer inspection, the formula contains proprietary blends, some of the ingredients are unlikely to be sufficiently dosed, it’s expensive, and it doesn't even taste that good!

Honestly, if you’re looking for a superfood formula containing protein, I recommend mixing a high-quality protein powder with a high-quality greens powder. If you do this, you’re much more likely to actually reap the benefits of both.
