Lean Greens Review

Lean Greens Review (UK Super Greens)

Lean Greens is a UK-based brand that produces an array of superfood supplements, with the most popular being the Lean Greens Super Greens formula. This formula is packed with 20 individual ingredients, including raw super greens ingredients.

The main aim of this formula is that it will help consumers to lose, and keep off excess weight by making the consumer feel satiated, whilst aiding the body to burn fat.

However, it doesn’t just provide this health benefit, and the brand claims it not only provides daily optimum nutrition but more specific health benefits too.

Over the past eight years that the brand has been active, it’s gained impressive popularity and seems to be growing exponentially, so I’m super keen to take a closer look at this formula to see if it actually delivers what the brand claims it does!

Lean Greens First Impressions

As soon as you head to the Lean Greens site, you really feel like the brand knows exactly what it’s doing! Everything from the pictures and text used to the blog that features and the positive customer reviews look attractive and appealing – the website certainly draws you in!

Looking at the Lean Greens Super Greens powder product page, it pretty much gives the same impression – everything looks sleek, well thought through, and professional.

One thing I would like to see more of would be photographs of the actual details on the tub, rather than so many aesthetically pleasing photos of the front of it.

Most brands tend to provide a full 360-view of their product, so the customer can see the information on the sides of the tub, not just the ingredients label, and I think that would make this product page pop even more!

In addition, the information section about the ingredients isn’t very informative, so it would be great to see some more informative content here.

However, I can see straight away that some of the ingredients in the formula have their full amounts listed, so I’m looking forward to hopefully being impressed by the ingredients list.

Overall, at an initial glance, the Lean Greens brand as a whole, and the formula itself look impressive and I’m excited to take a much closer look.

Background on Lean Greens

Lean Greens was founded in 2012 and is founded in Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK. The brand was founded by Tim Goodwin and is co-owned by Tim, and his wife Sam.

The brand was founded after Tim realized how great super greens powders actually were after he got the flu on his travels and turned to super greens to heal himself. However, the one thing that turned Tim off was the taste of pretty much every super green formula on the market.

So, the quest to create a neutral-tasting super greens formula began, and Lean Greens was eventually launched in 2012.

Although the brand first launched with the Lean Greens Super Greens formula, it has expanded over time and now produces a range of supplements, from probiotics tablets to sleep aid capsules.

Lean Greens Benefits

Lean Greens Super Greens is packed with an array of super greens ingredients, and therefore the brand claims that the formula will provide the consumer with some impressive health benefits!

Lean Greens' main claim with this formula is that it will stop food cravings by providing satiety, therefore making it easier for the consumer to lose weight. In addition, Lean Greens also claims the formula will aid the body to burn fat.

The brand also claims that the formula will increase energy levels so consumers don’t feel that midday slump, support the digestive system, and provide nutritional insurance.

Lean Greens Ingredients

The Lean Greens Super Greens formula contains 20 ingredients, with the 8 super greens ingredients included having their amounts fully disclosed.

All of the ingredients are dairy-free, soy-free, lactose-free, gluten-free, and wheat-free, meaning the formula is suitable for a wider range of people, regardless of dietary requirements.

Let’s take a look at the ingredients within the formula.

  • Spinach Powder- 525mg
  • Wheatgrass- 225mg
  • Barley Grass – 225mg
  • Alfalfa – 225mg
  • Chlorella – 225mg
  • Carrot Powder – 187mg
  • Spirulina – 150mg
  • Broccoli – 112mg
  • Other Ingredients – Maltodextrin, Blueberry Extract, Blackcurrant Extract, Digestive Enzyme Blend (Bromelain, Amylase, Protease, Lactase, Lipase, Cellulase), Natural Sweetener (Steviol Glycosides), Siberian Ginseng, Green Tea.

How Does Lean Greens Taste?

The Lean Greens Super Greens formula is supposed to not have any flavor. In fact, it’s supposed to be perfect for those with sensitive taste buds as it has a neutral taste.

Overall, the brand has been able to make the taste fairly neutral. It’s definitely not an overpowering formula, but you do still taste hints of the greens ingredients.

Side Effects

Lean Greens claims that 99.9% of the formula is perfectly safe and shouldn’t give the consumer any side effects.

However, I would suggest that if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition, or you’re on any kind of medication, it’s best to speak to your doctor before consumption.

Does Lean Greens Actually Work?

Lean Greens hasn’t provided any detailed amount of information about most of the ingredients within the formula, which is a real shame because as consumers we will never be able to tell if these ingredients are actually sufficiently weighted.

However, the brand has provided details about the amounts of certain ingredients – the super greens ingredients.

So, as consumers and potential customers, we can see if the formula actually does contain the optimum amount of each of these ingredients, working out if these ingredients in the formula will provide the health benefits that the brand so boldly claims they will.

I often use spirulina as my go-to when looking at other formulas, so let’s take a look at the amount of spirulina in this one! The recommended daily amount of spirulina sits between 1-3g, and within this formula, there’s only 187mg (0.187g).

This is nowhere near the daily recommended dosage, and therefore it’s insufficient and will probably not provide health benefits.

nowhere near the daily recommended dosage, and therefore it’s insufficient and will probably not provide health benefits.

If we look at an ingredient that’s more heavily weighted, such as barley grass, the recommended dose is between 3g – 6g, and there’s only 225mg (0.225g) in this formula. Once again, this is nowhere near the recommended daily dose.

Unfortunately, it seems like the formula is heavily underdosed, and therefore it probably won’t provide the health benefits the brand claims it will, not all of them anyway!

Lean Greens Customer Reviews

Lean Greens Super Greens formula is available on Amazon, so we can take a look at the wide range of customer reviews on there! Overall, there are 248 customer reviews on Amazon, with the product scoring 4.4 stars out of 5 stars overall.
Let’s take a look at a selection of these reviews below.

Absolutely can't praise this stuff enough. As a competitive athlete at county and national level, this is one of my favorite little legal cheats, taken half an hour before sessions, it gives me a greater boost of energy and goodies way better than the good old humble coffee!!5-star review

Way too high priced for the few ingredients you get compared to other greens products. The product exists out of ca. 90% maltodextrin, what's just a filler product. Very disappointed that I bought this.
Update: adjusted my 1-star review to 3 stars because of the great customer service. They understood I expected something else from the product and got a full refund. Much appreciated.3-star review

I’m afraid I can't tolerate the maltodextrin in Lean Greens, so I have to stop taking them and therefore get a low score… Sorry guys. Sensitive gut…1-star review

Money-Back Guarantee / Returns Policy

Lean Greens does offer a 60-day money-back guarantee, even if you have finished the tub!

Where to Buy Lean Greens?

You can buy the Super Greens powder from the Lean Greens website, or from the Lean Greens Amazon shop. lean

Is It Worth the Price?

One tub of Lean Greens Super Greens contains 500g of formula which is equivalent to 33 servings. This costs £44 GBP (approximately $57 USD). This works out at a cost per serving of £1.33 GBP (approximately $1.72).

Lean Greens offers discounts when purchasing a bundle of tubs. For example, if you purchase 6 tubs, it will cost £249 ($322.56). This works at a cost per tub of £41.50 and a cost per serving of £1.26 ($1.63) – not a huge saving!

Overall, the cost of the Lean Greens Super Greens formula is roughly around the middle of the road – it’s not overly cheap or overly expensive.

For delivery in the UK, there’s a flat fee of £3.99, and if you spend over £70, shipping is free. International shipping rates depend on the weight of your order and your location.

My Verdict

My first impressions of this brand and the formula were really great I expected a lot from the brand, and to be honest, the formula ticks pretty much every box, apart from the most important one!

The fact that not all of the ingredients on the ingredients label are fully disclosed is the first problem, but even the ingredients with amount information fall short of the daily recommended doses.

So, unfortunately, I can’t recommend this formula.

I know that there are super greens formulas on the market with sufficiently added ingredients and fully disclosed labeling for a similar price point. So, I would look elsewhere.
