Organifi Green Juice vs Shakeology

Organifi Green Juice vs Shakeology

Organifi Green Juice and Shakeology are both formulas that have gained unprecedented customer attention and success since they were launched, and I’m eager to compare the two of them.

Both the Organifi brand and the Beachbody brand (producers of Shakeology) gain a lot of attention from social media platforms, so it’ll be interesting to see if what consumers see portrayed online is the truth – are these formulas really as impressive as they seem to be?

Whether you’re trying to figure out which formula out of the two you should purchase, you’re trying to read about one of them in particular or you’re a regular reader of my blog, let’s dive in and take a look at Organifi Green Juice Vs Shakeology.

Organifi Green Juice vs Shakeology

What Is Organifi Green Juice?

Organifi Green Juice is the single most popular supplement produced by the Organifi brand. The formula is marketed as the single best product to kickstart your day by helping detox the body, supporting the immune system, and providing energy.

Containing a selection of potent super greens ingredients and promising a wide range of impressive health benefits, the formula is widely reviewed and loved by Organifi customers.

Organifi was founded in 2014 by fitness and wellbeing Youtuber Drew Canole, the brand became immediately successful due to Canole’s personal fans.

However, the brand has only grown exponentially since it was founded and the formula remains the best-seller, so I’m eager to take a closer look and compare it with Beachbody’s Shakeology formula.

First, let’s take a look at the formula’s pros and cons as a whole!

What is Shakeology?

Shakeology formulas, available in a variety of different flavors, and with an option of added protein or not, are shake mixtures produced by the brand Beachbody.

Beachbody, founded in 1998, is a multi-level marketing company that helps customers achieve their weight loss and fitness goals whilst becoming part of the team. If you sign up to Team Beachbody, you gain access to a social media group, get workout guides, and help with meal planning.

Shakeology formulas become part of this within the nutritional program, marketed as being a nutrient-dense formula that keeps hunger at bay and provides energy.

I have to say that I’m really not keen on multi-level marketing businesses, but there’s a lot of excitement around the brand, and the fact it’s still going after 20 years intrigues me.

Before we dive in and take a closer look at the formula and compare it to Organifi, let’s look at the overall pros and cons of the Shakeology mix.

Pros

  • Available with whey protein
  • Variety of tastes that are pleasant

Cons

  • Made using proprietary blends (not a fully disclosed ingredients label)
  • Pyramid scheme/multi-level marketing company
  • High cost

Organifi Green Juice Vs. Shakeology Benefits

Organifi Green Juice

Organifi has really put a lot of effort into showing customers, and potential customers, about the health benefits of this formula, and it’s well-received by me.

I really appreciate when brands actually market their products properly, so it’s nice to see.

Organifi not only claims that the formula will boost nutritional consumption, support the detox of the body, boost the immune system and help to burn fat, but it also shows the health benefits of every specific ingredient.

On the Organifi Green Juice product page, if you scroll down you will be able to see benefits information about each ingredient that resides in the formula. For example, “Chlorella – A green algae super high in protein and healthy polyunsaturated fats. Studies suggest it ‘improves mucosal immune function in humans.”

This is all wonderful, but there is a problem – the ingredients are all within proprietary blends and therefore these benefits actually might not occur. It seems to me like there’s so much information because the brand is trying to make up for not being transparent on the formula’s ingredient list.

Shakeology

Just like Organifi, the Beachbody brand has made a lot of effort to show the benefits of the formula by showing the health benefits of each specific ingredient within the formula.

In fact, as much as I don’t like the brand’s ideology and way of working, I have to say that I really appreciate the layout of the website when it comes to showing the benefits of each ingredient.

The brand has not only given information about the specific health benefits of each ingredient, but it’s also provided information about the origins and history of each ingredient.

For example,

Flax – Cultivated as early as 3000 B.C. in Mesopotamia, flax is one of the original superfoods. In addition to protein and fiber, the seeds of this blue-flowered plant contain alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a type of omega-3 fatty acid that studies suggest can help support heart health. It’s also a dietary source of lignans, a group of important phytonutrients.

This is a really nice touch, but it confuses me why the brand has gone to so much effort to share all of this information with customers when the ingredients list of the actual product isn’t transparent at all.

I feel like both Organifi and Beachbody are trying to impress potential customers with all of this information to make up for the lack of transparency and disclosure when it comes to the ingredients label of their products.

However, we’re taking a look at the ingredients list next so let’s not get ahead of ourselves!

Overall, Beachbody markets the Shakeology formula as a superfood powder that will not only bridge consumers’ nutritional gap but make them feel less hungry and help them to lose weight.

Although this might be the case, people who typically consume super greens formulas are doing so to maintain optimum nutritional intake, not because they’re trying to lose weight. So it’s blatantly obvious to me that the brand is targeting a particular type of consumer here – people looking for a quick weight loss fix.

Organifi Green Juice Vs Shakeology Ingredients

Organifi Green Juice

Organifi Green Juice only contains 10 ingredients, 95% or more of which are organic, meaning the formula as a whole is USDA certified organic. It’s also vegan, dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, and non-GMO.

Although there are only 10 ingredients within the formula, there’s a selection of the most potent and impressive super greens ingredients – Wheatgrass, Moringa, Spirulina, Chlorella, Match Green Tea.

In addition, there’s also a variety of herbal extracts and other superfood ingredients.

As great as that all is, there is one big problem though – all of the ingredients are found in proprietary blends. This means that the brand hasn’t been transparent and supplied the consumer with a fully disclosed list of ingredients.

Organifi Green Juice ingredients label

Whenever I review formulas, I’m always hoping that I don’t see an ingredients list packed with proprietary blends, because if I do, my opinion of the formula, and the brand, suddenly drops very low.

Proprietary blends make it impossible for anyone but the brand to know how much of each ingredient exists within a formula, and therefore, the customer is left in the dark.

Without the information about the amounts of ingredients within a formula, the consumer doesn’t only not know whether their meeting the daily recommended dosages of each ingredient, but also whether the formula will actually work or not.

There’s such a lack of transparency when it comes to proprietary blends and I believe strongly in the consumer knowing all of the facts so they can make a fair purchase that they know will benefit them.

So, the Organifi Green Juice formula definitely doesn’t score any points in this category from me.

Shakeology

The Shakeology products are available either as plant-based vegan formulas, or with whey included, and they’re available in a variety of different flavors.

However, apart from the addition of whey and the different flavoring ingredients, every ingredient is the same.

The Shakeology formula contains over 30 ingredients, and whilst they are all potent ingredients in the correct amounts, they all exist within proprietary blends in this formula.

Shakeology ingredients label

On the ingredients label, all of the ingredients are shown in one long list, appearing as one blend. However, there are actually 5 different blends – a protein blend, an antioxidant blend, a super green blend, an adaptogen blend, and a prebiotic/probiotic/digestive enzyme blend.

Just like I said when looking at the ingredients label of Organifi Green Juice, I feel so disappointed to see proprietary blends making up this formula.

Proprietary blends make it impossible for the consumer to figure out how much of any ingredient they’re consuming, and it's impossible to figure out if the formula will actually provide the wide range of health benefits the brand claims it will.

The fact that the brand hasn’t even gone to the effort of showing each proprietary blend is even more disappointing and just makes the brand look uninterested and careless.

I certainly don’t appreciate this ingredients list and you wouldn’t find me consuming this formula.

Organifi Green Juice Vs Shakeology Taste

Organifi Green Juice

Organifi Green Juice isn’t actually marketed as having a flavor, but it is flavored and sweetened using an array of ingredients.

The formula contains a real mix of flavors, combining both citrus flavors and mint flavors. The ingredients used are organic lemon powder, organic orange flavor, organic spearmint flavor, organic mint flavor, and organic Luo Han Guo ( monk fruit extract) is used to sweeten it.

The formula is definitely palatable, but you do still get hints of natural greens flavor from the ingredients.

Shakeology

Shakeology is available in an array of flavors – Vanilla, Chocolate, Cafe Latte, Strawberry, Strawberry Tropical, and even a seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte!

Each flavor is naturally flavored using organic cane sugar, natural flavors depending on the specific flavor, xanthan gum, stevia leaf extract, and Himalayan pink salt.

The formula, regardless of the specific flavor the customer chooses, is marketed as tasting like a treat rather than a nutritious supplement, so it’s not surprising that the formula does taste pleasant.

However, some people might find the formula too sweet.

Organifi Green Juice Vs Shakeology Cost

Organifi Green Juice

Organifi Green Juice is sold in 279g tubs that contain 30 servings. One tub of Organifi Green juice costs $69.95, meaning the cost per serving of this formula is $2.33.

You can subscribe to receive the formula on a regular basis and save 26% on your order. This means that one tub works out at $59.46 per tub, with the cost per serving works out at $1.98.

This is fairly expensive considering the formula contains proprietary blends and therefore the consumer can’t even figure out if the formula will work or not.

However, proprietary blend formulas can get more expensive than this, as we see with Shakeology…

Shakeology

One 30-serving pouch of Shakeology costs $129.99, or you can purchase a box of 24 single-serve packets for the same price.

If you choose to purchase the 30-serving tub, this would work out at a cost per serving of $4.33.

If you choose to purchase the 24 single-serve packets, this would work out at a cost per serving of $5.42.

This is incredibly expensive for a formula that is made using proprietary blends, but due to the pyramid scheme business structure, all of the Beachbody products have to be overpriced.

Organifi Green Juice Vs Shakeology: Which is Better?

To be completely honest, I don’t particularly like either of these formulas, for one main reason, and yes, you’ve probably guessed it – both of these formulas are made using proprietary blends!

Personally, I wouldn’t purchase either of the formulas as I like to know exactly what I’m consuming and whether it will work or not before I decide to consume it.

However, this is a comparison review, and don’t worry, I’m not going to leave you in the dark as these brands do!

I would have to say that due to the fact Shakeology is so expensive (even in comparison to formulas with fully disclosed labels), and the Beachbody brand is a multi-level marketing company, I think Organifi Green Juice takes the win.
