Unless you have a nutrition-conscious child (which is very unlikely!) or a child that simply can’t get enough of the taste of greens, you will most likely be struggling to get vegetables into your child’s diet.

So, it’s obvious why so many parents turn to super greens powders for help. But, the big question from all parents is, “should children really be taking super greens powders?”.

As a dad with two young children, I wanted to know the best greens powders for kids, and I was surprised that most brands are not recommended for kids.

As a parent, you want to be sure that your child avoids consuming anything that could be dangerous for them or upset their delicate immune system.

With greens powders being packed with famously potent ingredients, it’s clear why as parents, we might be worried about incorporating this kind of supplement into their children’s diet on a daily basis.

So, in this article, we’re going to look at everything child-related regarding greens powders to give you all the information you need.

The Good News…

Greens powders certainly can be consumed by children and can actually substantially increase a child’s overall health, as well as provide other health benefits. However, it’s incredibly important that you choose the right powder!

Not all greens powders are suitable for children.

Before you do, to help you with your search, I want to share three rules with you that are incredibly important if you’re going to be purchasing a good formula for your child!

Always choose a child-friendly formula

It’s incredibly important that you choose a child-friendly formula. As mentioned above, the majority of super greens powders on the market are only suitable for adults, so you need to make sure there are no warnings or age restrictions on the formula you buy. Even better, just buy a greens formula specifically formulated for children.

Check that certain ingredients aren’t included

There are some ingredients that you need to avoid if you’re going to be purchasing a greens powder for your child. Obviously, you’d hope that if you’re purchasing a child-friendly formula that these ingredients wouldn’t be included, but you never know, so it’s best to be on the lookout!

You should avoid formulas with green tea extract and ginseng as these are ingredients that will increase energy levels significantly. It might also be a good idea to avoid any ingredients that alter hormones such as maca root.

Choose a formula with a fully disclosed ingredients label

Just like any other greens supplement, it’s important that you choose a greens formula with a fully disclosed ingredients label. You need to know exactly which ingredients, and how much of those ingredients, your child is consuming.

You should also avoid formulas made from proprietary blends as the amount of each ingredient within a proprietary blend isn’t shown and the amounts included are usually not sufficient.
