Super Greens Review – My Competitor Analysis

To really understand the different Super Greens on the market it’s crucial to analyze the competition, this is what I have done here with my Super Greens review and competitive analysis.

I have researched the top 10 Super Green brands on the market. I reveal what I like about each product giving its pros and cons, whilst compiling a list of best features I can use when developing a Super Greens supplement.

A quick note that whilst some of the brands are not necessarily in line with my intended target audience, there are included due to their popularity and what I can possibly learn from them.

Top 10 Super Greens Competitors

I have reviewed over 50 Super Greens since delving into these supplements during the last 2-3 months, a number of which I have purchased and tried out myself. The products I have tried and independently reviewed are indicated and a link to my personal review on this blog.

These are my opinions and based on my experience of researching these supplements online along with those I have personal tried.

1. Athletic Greens

Athletic Greens Pouch

As my Athletic Greens review reveals, I am a fan of this brand and have tried this for 3 weeks in total when researching different Super Greens. The taste is good and slightly sweet so was fine for me, but if you don’t have a sweet tooth you may find this too much.

It's marketed as the “most complete supplement” as it contains 75 ingredients that support the nervous and immune system, digestion and gut health, hormone, antioxidants, and healthy aging support, and efficient energy.

Recently the branding has changed to reflect a healthier brand instead of a more athletic approach before. It works and looks awesome.

In terms of the ingredients, there are a lot of ingredients, and the manufacturers continually tweak the formula to give the best results. My only criticism is that now they have most of the ingredients within a proprietary blend and so most of the ingredient amounts are not known.

Whilst I am confident with the company as they appear ethical, it’s impossible to know the full ingredient amounts and so have no way of knowing if they are in suitable quantities.

It’s on the pricier side as it's promoted as a premium greens supplement for those individuals serious about their health or everyday athletes. If you’re outside of the US or Canada then it’s impossible to order directly from the official website and would need to use Amazon.

Price: $3.24 per serving

There are two options available, either the one pouch 30 days serving “trial pack” at $97 with $8.95 shipping (International shipping to Canada $17.95). Alternatively the “ship and save” option where you can save $20 per month with each pouch costing $77 plus the same shipping above.

2. Green Vibrance

Green Vibrance Review

Green Vibrance by Vibrant Health is another favourite that I tried and tested recently for 3 weeks too. Vibrant Health has been producing dietary supplements since 1992 and so has a great reputation.

Their most well-known supplement Green Vibrance contains 70 ingredients in its formula, you get a lot of product for a very reasonable price.

Available in a number of flavors Original, Chocolate Coconut, and Matcha Tea, I tried out the “original” flavor tub. The taste wasn’t quite as good as Athletic Greens but not far off, even still it was palatable without me needing to put anything else other than cold water.

For me one of the attractions of Green Vibrance is their ingredient transparency, their label reveals everything in their supplement including amounts! You can see exactly what’s inside each serving, so no guesswork.

The downside is that with so many ingredients in each serving, many of the ingredient amounts are in too few amounts. To be fair Vibrant Health does say that between one and three servings are recommended per day. Drinking three servings per day and you will certainly be consuming enough, but your 30-serving tub won’t last long and it’s going to work out more expensive.

Price: $1.66 per serving

You can buy one tub of 30 servings (not a 30 day supply) is $54 with FREE USA shipping (NO International shipping is possible and so Amazon the only option). The “ship and save” option is $43.20, which works out to be a 20% saving.

3. Yuri Elkaims Energy Greens

Yuri Elkaims Energy Greens

I have been inspired by Yuri Elkaims the creator of Energy Greens. In some ways, his story of suffering an autoimmune disease for 20 years is similar to what my experience with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome was.

It’s fantastic to see that this supplement focuses not on a huge ingredient list but on a carefully selected few that have proven health benefits. The 8 ingredients are 100% USDA organic and are promoted to be the best premium quality from small farmers in small batches that are tested.

One negative thought, and for me, it’s a fairly big one, there is no transparent breakdown of the 8 ingredient amounts listed on the supplement facts label or website. I am fairly confident that this supplement will live up to the claims made and include the right amounts, but we’re relying on Yuri Elkaim here that it does and have no easy way to prove otherwise.

There is an amazing one-year taste guarantee where you basically have a year money-back guarantee should you wish to return it – probably the best guarantee I have seen in a Super Greens Supplement!

Price: $1.54 per serving

Energy Greens is a premium greens supplement and so a 1 jar purchase is $79 with FREE SHIPPING (International shipping $12), with a subscription and save being 18% cheaper at $65 per month.

Other package options include 3 jars at $69 (Subscribe and save $58 – save 16%) and 6 jars at $59 each (Subscribe and save $50 – save 23%).

4. Amazing Grass Green Superfood

Amazing Grass supplement

Amazing Grass is one of the cheapest super green supplements on the market, and so ideal for those customers on a budget. I gave it a try for one week but wasn’t too keen on the taste, very grassy with an after taste that lingered a bit too long.

A number of flavors and tub sizes are available ranging from original, Chocolate, Berry, Orange Dream, Pumpkin Spice, and Holiday Cookie. Some are available in 30 serving tubs others in 60 servings size.

Amazing Grass’s formula includes four proprietary blends and so again individual ingredient amounts are not disclosed and hidden. There are some great ingredients including but it’s impossible to know for sure how much and whether each serving of 8g is enough to do what it says.

Price: $0.99 per serving

Purchases of one tub of 30 servings are $29.99 with free US shipping (International shipping is only available to Canada for a somewhat pricey $31). There is a “ship and save” option that sees the cost as very budget-friendly at $23.99.

5. Organifi Green Juice

Organifi Green Juice

Organifi is a popular green juice that first started from a popular YouTube by Drew Canole showing the benefits of juicing for health.

Whilst I really like Organifi, its popularity due to having a loyal community who resonate with the values of the company, there is a big minus with this supplement. As with many other Super Greens, Organifi uses proprietary blends for their formula and so have no idea exactly what’s inside as they hide the individual ingredients.

I am not 100% confident about the ingredients either considering the serving size is 9g with the main “Alkaline Greens blend” being just 5g.

Having not tried this yet, although I plan to soon, feedback from customers is good with many liking the taste.

Price: $2.33 per serving

You can buy 1 bottle (30-day serving) for $69.96 + $9.95 (International shipping $22.95) or opt for the subscribe and save option which costs $59.46 plus shipping.

6. Detox Organics

Detox Organics Sample

Detox Organics is a chocolate-flavored Supergreens drink that is promoted more as a detox and weight loss supplement.

Personally, I wasn’t too keen on the chocolate flavor in my Detox Organics review, seems a little unusual to have a healthy “super greens” drink, but this is because I expect a green powder and not a brown one. Personal choice, I just prefer non-chocolate Supergreens!

That said, this brand looks to be popular with consumers looking to reduce bloating, weight loss, and give a little boost in energy. There are a number of before and after testimonials on the website showing weight loss in satisfied customers.

There are 25 ingredients in each 13g serving of Detox Organics split into three proprietary blends, and so the full ingredient list is not revealed but hidden from consumers. On a positive note, the product is 100% USDA organic and there is a 60-day money-back guarantee, that will appeal to some consumers.

Price: $2.30 per serving

You can buy one tub of 30 servings for $69 + $9 (International Shipping $18) with discounts for buying 3 or 6 tub packages online.

7. Dr Axe Organic SuperGreens

Dr Axe Organic SuperGreens

Dr. Axe Organic SuperGreens promotes their supplement as a way to help cardiorespiratory endurance, immune Support, detoxification, and gastrointestinal health.

SuperGreens is USDA certified organic and contains over 28 ingredients split into four proprietary blends. Each serving size is 9.5g but there is no indication given of the individual ingredient amounts used in Dr. Axe’s SuperGreens formula.

Customer feedback regarding taste is fairly positive with many happy to drink mixing just with water.

There are no added sugars or fillers and a satisfactory 60-day money-back guarantee from the official website.

Price: $1.70 per serving

The cost of one tub of 25 day supply is $41.95 with shipping costs unknown. Currently, this SuperGreens is unavailable due to being marked as “sold out” on the official website and Amazon store.

8. Texas Superfood Powder

Texas Superfoods

Texas Superfood has 55 ingredients that claim to equate to 12 daily servings of fruits and vegetables in one 6g scoop. This is one of the few Super Greens that show serving sizes for kids over 12 years old.

Along with providing nutrient-rich fruits and veggies, Texas SuperFood provides probiotics and digestive enzymes. It’s not clear from the supplement facts label the ingredients and how much of each exists within the formula.

The serving size of 6g is not too big considering a large number of ingredients within the blend, which highlights the concern as to whether ingredient amounts will be sufficient to do as claimed.

The blend is gluten, soy, and dairy-free is vegan-friendly and free from fillers/binders, and artificial flavorings.

Price: $2.12 per serving

The price of 1 Month Supply is $63.65 with flat rate shipping costs of $9.80 for the USA. Only available in the US via the official website. You may find this ships worldwide from Amazon.com.

9. Patriot Power Greens

Patriot Power Greens

Patriot Power Greens is developed by Patriot Health Alliance and has very much a USA veterans market focus. There isn’t much information available on the website itself only that it's produced in an FDA approved lab – but all supplements should be!

The website is essentially a long, very long sales page that promotes the youthful benefits of Patriot Power Greens to senior men in the USA. Most of the marketing is focused on the issues of inflammation and how this affects health and primary issues of aging.

Each scoop of Patriot Power Greens contains 40 organic fruits and veggies, 6 digestive enzymes, and 10 probiotics. There is little information as to how much is included though, but after some digging around found the label, and guess what?

You got it, the ingredients are wrapped in four proprietary blends. Each ingredient amount to the greens, fruits and veggies, probiotics, and digestive enzymes, and disclosed.

Price: $1.67 per serving

The cost of 1 tub 30 servings is $49.95 + $8.95 S/H with delivery ONLY to the USA and Canada. A number of “free gifts” are on offer too with each purchase with consist of a shaker bottle to a How to Get Off Prescription Drugs ebook.

10. Shakeology Power Greens

Shakeology Boost Power Greens

Shakeology offers a number of supplements and Power Greens are their option for those looking to supplement their diet with “key minerals and vital phytonutrients to support overall health”.

The main ingredients are wrapped within a “proprietary green blend” of 5g, so with the ingredient amounts hidden it's impossible to know if they are insufficient amounts.

The formula isn't organic and it's not clear if it's gluten-free, vegan, or GMO-free, on the plus side there are no artificial colors or preservatives.

There is a 30-day money-back guarantee that should allow you to request a refund if this Power Greens Supplement is not for you.

Price: $1.74 per serving

The price of 1 tub of 20 servings is £34.95 plus s/h from $6.95 to $16.95 depending on how quickly you want it delivered. It seems you can only order in the USA.

Super Greens Review Round Up

As you would expect there are some big differences and similarities amongst these top 10 Super Greens supplements I have briefly reviewed and summarised above.

There is a big choice of Super Greens to consider that can fit every budget and so finding the right Green Powder for you may be challenging. Even though I would consider the brands here to be amongst the most popular on the market, unfortunately, these are not created equally.

The ingredients and amounts used in each of these products vary significantly. I am inspired by Yuri Elkaims Energy Greens supplement as I really like his approach of using fewer ingredients but in the right amounts. That said, he doesn’t detail the exact amounts used in his formula.

This is a big trend with today’s supplements using proprietary blends, which means you don’t get to know 100% of the full ingredient amounts used. Only Green Vibrance gives you the full transparent breakdown of the supplement facts – I really liked this and salute their transparency.

All the brands above offered a refund and money-back guarantee but I was most impressed with Energy Greens with their 1-year “taste it and love it” guarantee. The longest money-back guarantee I have seen with a Super Greens supplement.

In terms of taste, I liked Athletic Greens and Green Vibrance as they were both very palatable without the need to mix with anything other than cold water.

Super Green Brands I liked

From the 10 Super Greens supplement brands reviewed I like:

  • Serving Cost – Amazing Grass / Yuri Elkaims Energy Greens
  • Ingredients / Transparency – Green Vibrance
  • Money back guarantee (1 year) – Yuri Elkaims Energy Greens
  • Taste – Athletic Greens / Green Vibrance
  • Shipping Costs – Yuri Elkaims Energy Greens / Amazing Grass / Green Vibrance (all offer FREE US Shipping)

What I Learnt

In looking for opportunities to stand out from the Super Green crowd, it seems the following is the case for most brands:

  • Serving costs vary significantly with some brands costing $1 to overs costing over $3. Some brands do not contain a full 30-day serving amount in the tub.
  • Most use proprietary and fail to be fully transparent on the ingredient amounts used. As such, some brands are unlikely to have sufficient ingredient amounts to support the claims made.
  • Customers don’t enjoy the taste of most of the Super Greens blends and is a factor in taking long-term. Brands use Stevia as a popular natural sweetener, which polarises opinion with some customers who hated it and others who don’t mind it.
  • Money back guarantees tend to be 30 to 60 days in duration, with only one brand offering a full 1-year guarantee.
  • Most charge a shipping fee even for domestic US shipping. Some of the International shipping rates are very expensive.

This was an incredibly good exercise and has already formed some ideas for my supplement. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. Hi Adam,
I was reading the reviews about best or top green powders and was wondering why “Peak Performance, Certified Organic Delicious Green Superfood” is not on the list. What I like about it is it gives the serving amount, particularly the super greens (unlike Yuri Alkaim product which is a huge problem for me). I find them to be a high quality product. But I’m not an expert on this so maybe I’m missing something. Could you possibly look into this product & give it a review? I trust your research & feedback.

    Thanks,
    Brigid – Illinois

    1. Hi Brigid,
I haven’t seen this greens powder before but I took a very quick look today for you.
The product very reasonably priced though, which is a big plus, for a 10g serving of ingredients. The issue is we don’t get to see all the amounts in each proprietary blend, so it’s impossible to know if sufficient quantities exist. The “Organic Greens Blend” is 2,500mg and contains 5 ingredients. All we know is that say Spirulina is in the smallest amount in the blend, is that 500mg or even less? If so, then simply not enough in one serving.

  2. Thank you for your thorough research and presentation. I really appreciate this effort on your part.
    Blessings to all your endeavors.
