YourSuper Green Superfood Mix Review

Your Super Organic Superfood Powders Review

YourSuper Super Greens Mix is a no-frills superfood supplement that contains just six ingredients in one serving and nothing else. No sugar or artificial flavorings.

Containing only 5-6 naturally dried superfoods — Your Super mixes concentrate on fewer ingredients in their supplements.

I was keen to see if this simple greens powder was powerful enough to promote the numerous health benefits of taking a greens supplement at a very affordable price.

Competition is fierce in the superfood green supplement space, though, and I wondered if Your Super's brand was enough to be my or your #1 daily greens supplement of choice.

I tried over 40 brands: check out my best green superfoods!)

What is Your Super?

Your Super has a great brand, great back story, and an impressive range of supplements in their store. There is a lot to like about Your Super, that's for sure.

In contrast to many brands, all the superfood and protein mixes are packaged in cans. These look great and give the impression of being both ethically and environmentally friendly.

There are YourSuper mixes to improve areas from focus and concentration, energy, immune system, and overall health.

All the superfood and plant protein mixes are USDA Organic Certified and non-GMO, plant-based vegan, gluten-free, and free of additives and preservatives.

The company has partnered with Action Against Hunger to donate a life-saving food bar to those in need for every Your Super mix purchased. So, ethically I believe in YourSuper and would be confident in them as a company.

YourSuper Supplement Range

Products currently on offer include Skinny Protein, Energy Bomb, Forever Beautiful, Power Matcha, Chocolate Lover, Super Green, and Muscle Power. They also offer several bundles where you can save money.

Background on Your Superfoods Inc

Your Super is a rapidly growing startup based in California with a mission of making healthy eating easier by providing natural, organic, and delicious products.

The company was founded by an American couple, Kristel & Michael, in 2015. The company started after Michael was diagnosed with Cancer at 24, and his partner Kristel started making homemade mixes of superfood powders.

Seeing the health benefits of these superfoods inspired the couple to create a range of functional superfoods and plant proteins to help others get the nutrients they need in their diets.

The company endorses no added sugars or fillers and focuses on natural flavoring for their nutrient-dense whole foods and plant protein mixes.

Your Super Superfood Ingredients

In a departure from most green superfood supplements, there are only 6 ingredients in this formula. Many of these green superfood ingredients will be familiar; Wheatgrass, Barley grass, Baobab, Moringa, Spirulina, and Chlorella.

The one that stands out for me that I haven't seen in many greens blends is Baobab (source). All the ingredients chosen though are known for their powerful superfood nutrient content of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Each serving is 5 grams, which is on the low side when compared to many of the greens powders I have reviewed – my greens supplement is 240% the serving size!

Here is the list of ingredients (ingredient amounts unknown):

  • Wheatgrass: Powerful antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties
  • Barley grass: Rich in vitamins A, C, B and minerals iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus
  • Baobab: Number of impressive health benefits and rich in important vitamins and minerals
  • Moringa: Rich in antioxidants and exceptionally rich in vitamin C
  • Spirulina: Various nutrients and antioxidants that may benefit your body and brain.
  • Chlorella: Nutrient-dense algae enhance the immune response and its antioxidant properties may reduce chronic diseases

Each serving is 5 grams, which is on the low side when compared to many of the green superfoods I have reviewed – my greens supplement is 240% the serving size of Your Super!

None of the ingredient amounts are listed on the label.

I was keen to find out how potent Your Super’s formula was, so I contacted their support team. This is what I got back.

Thanks for reaching out! I'm afraid we cannot disclose the exact ratios of the ingredients in our mixes. Since there are so few ingredients, it would be too easy for someone else to copy our products so we keep that information confidential for patent and privacy reasons.YourSuper Customer Support

This is disappointing and for me not a good enough reason not to reveal the ingredient amounts. I have written about why supplement companies use proprietary blends before.

How Does Your Super Superfood Taste?

As with many green powders, it’s super easy to take. Add one teaspoon of the mix to smoothies, juices, water, your breakfast, or super green shots.

The flavor is lemon and greens.

I have tried “lemon” tasting greens powders before (Cymbiotika greens for example) and have to say, I am not a fan of this flavor.

I much prefer mint or a berry taste.

Of course, how good a beverage tastes will be very subjective.

Side Effects

There are unlikely to be any side effects from taking this greens supplement.

Of course, as is always the advice with any supplement, if you have any underlying medical condition or take prescription medication, please consult your medical doctor first.

Does Your Super Superfood Actually Work?

Readers of my reviews can probably guess what I will say here. That's right, I am hugely disappointed in being unable to view the breakdown of ingredients in the Superfood powder mix.

In all my reviews, I advocate incorporating full transparent labeling, it's the ONLY WAY to know just how effective a greens powder will truly be.

Why? Simple, like medicine, you need to ensure a sufficient dosage is available to guarantee it will have the benefits claimed by the manufacturer.

..you need to ensure a sufficient dosage is available to guarantee it will have the benefits claimed by the manufacturer.

All we can know for sure is that the ingredient amounts are listed in the order of size, which means that Wheatgrass is the main ingredient, with Chlorella being the smallest.

Following this observation, Chlorella is in the smallest quantity in the formula, this will likely be included in insufficient amounts to trigger much if any, benefits.

I had some concerns aside from the proprietary formula, though.

I couldn't find out if the type of Chlorella were the cracked cell variety. This makes a difference to how the nutrients within Chlorella can be broken down and available. You can read all about the benefits of Chlorella for the body.

That said, I believe that Your Super will have some benefits, but the extent of which will depend on how deficient in nutrients you are in your daily diet.

Your Super Superfood Customer Reviews

The customer feedback on Amazon is really good with an average of 4.5 out of 5 from 138 ratings at the time of my review.

Here is a selection of reviews from good to poor.

Excellent product and tastes way better then it looks. It almost tastes like cold green tea. I highly recommend this product if you are looking for a holistic way of life. 4 stars

This came, and I was super excited! I opened it and it was 1/2 way full. I’m not sure if this is how they all are, but mine wasn’t very full at all. Kind of like a bag of chips-mostly air! Disappointing. However, I like the flavor. I mix it with fruits and water. 3 stars

$32 for a 5.3oz can that was 1/2 full. Sad. Smells and tastes awful. I can’t comment on benefits yet as I just opened it and had one smoothie. 1 star

Money Back Guarantee / Returns Policy

There is a 30-day satisfaction guarantee when buying from the official YourSuper website. The policy may vary according to different outlets, including Amazon, so I suggest checking these out before ordering.

Where to Buy Your Super Superfood?

The official website is the obvious place to buy Your Super Super Green powders. You can also find the complete range available on Amazon.

Signing up to the subscription option gives you a healthy 20% discount on the cost of each can.

Is It Worth the Price?

Yes and no, let me explain.

At first glance, the cost appears incredibly cheap, less than $30 per tub, but then you should consider the serving size of 5 grams.

When you do, you realize it isn’t the bargain you first thought.

On a per serving amount basis then, YourSuper Super Greens is similar to other more premium priced alternatives like Athletic Greens and SuperGreen TONIK.

YourSuper Greens: My Verdict

I am a huge fan of Your Super, the branding and range of functional superfoods is great. Without sounding patronizing I applaud their mission and believe in what they are looking to achieve by providing functional foods at an affordable price.

The issue I do have, though, which is a big one, is the use of proprietary blends for their superfood powder mixes.

I just want to know EXACTLY what's inside a supplement so I can be confident sufficient ingredient amounts are inside. I think this is really not much to expect from a product.

For me, this was the number one reason why I went ahead to develop my brand. I simply wanted to know what’s inside the supplement I am taking.

YourSuper Super Green powder supplement will help if your daily nutritional intake is sub-par, but in terms of being a potent greens formula, I have my doubts. It simply doesn't pack that greens punch that I would be looking for.
