What is Opti-reds 50?

Opti-Reds 50 is a reds supplement made by 1st Phorm which also produces a range of health and fitness supplements including my current favorite, powdered greens.

The formula contains 50 hand-selected ingredients that are renowned for their powerful antioxidant effect. These ingredients have been shown to protect against free radicals and oxidative stress, as well as provide support for both cardiovascular and immune health.

Opti Reds 50 can be combined with their more well-known brand Opti-Greens 50, which I have also reviewed.

I noticed that recently Opti-Greens 50 have changed from using a tub to a pouch and so it could be that Opti-Reds will change too in the near future.

Background on 1st Phorm

I am no stranger to the company behind Opti-Reds 50 (1st Phorm) as I have reviewed one of their other best-selling supplements before, Opti-Greens 50.

The company has been around since 2006 and stocks a range of supplements covering health, weight loss, and fitness. They also produce a range of apparel, luggage, headwear, and various accessories too.

Rather impressively 1st Phorm Founder Andy Frisella has built a $175 million company from the ground up.

Opti-Reds 50 Ingredients

Opti-Reds 50 has three different ingredient blends that comprise the product: Cardio Health Blend, PhytoPhorm Antioxidant Complex, and Digestive Aid Blend.

All the blends are contained within proprietary blends and so we don't know the breakdown of each ingredient inside. This is a common practice amongst most supplement manufacturers, one that I really DISLIKE.

I want to know exactly what I am taking.

It's important for me to know if a supplement is clinically dosed so that I know it's going to work. We just don't know if Opti-Reds 50 is dosed correctly!

Each serving size is two scoops making it a total of 10 grams for all the ingredients below.

Cardio Health Blends (6,166mg)

Beet, sweet potato, Cabbage

PhytoPhorm Antioxidant Blend (1,058mg)

Digestive Aid Blend (940mg)

The product is also 100% GMO-free.

How Does Opti-Reds 50 Taste?

As with all red powders after mixing with water you get a bright red colored drink. The shade of red I have found does vary significantly between supplements due to the ingredients used and their amounts.

For most products, you mix one scoop of the red powder, this is the first time I have needed to use two scoops.

It has a berry taste that was okay to drink and would find this okay to drink daily.

Mixing opti-reds + greens

Pro tip: Some customers like to mix two scoops of Opti-Greens 50 together with the Opti-Reds 50 into a blender to get all the nutrients in one hit. This may help to hide the taste of the greens powder too.

Side Effects

If you follow the daily recommended dose for Opti-Reds 50 then there are unlikely to be any side effects.

This product may not be suitable for sufferers of celiac disease, due to the inclusion of Maltodextrin, which can have traces of gluten if its source is wheat (Source).

Just be mindful that there is caffeine in this formula with the inclusion of Coffea Arabica Extract and Green Tea Extract in the “PhytoPhorm Antioxidant Blend”. It's unclear how much caffeine is in the formula as the amounts are not disclosed.

Of course, if you have any pre-existing medical conditions and/or taking prescription medication then you should always consult a medical doctor before taking any supplement.

Does Opti-Reds 50 Actually Work?

We know that we should eat a range of fruit and vegetables daily to support our health. Supplements like Opti-Reds 50 make this easier by simply mixing the powder with water and drinking each day.

A common aim for red superfood powders is the antioxidant-rich ingredients to reduce inflammation in the body and fight free radical damage.

Nitric oxide is produced from nitrates found in beets and is the reason why we see this ingredient in these types of products.

The effect of Nitric Oxide is to relax and widen blood vessels which can lead to reduced blood pressure and support circulatory health (Source).

Beetroot is one of the main ingredients in the Opti-Reds 50 formula and whilst we don't know the exact amount it's likely to be in the dosage seen in other beet supplements.

Beetroot vegetable and juice

A quick word on the “digestive blend” in the formula. This is a patented blend called AncienTrim
from pharmaceutical company FutureCenticals and is a powder made from the ancient grains amaranth, buckwheat, millet, chia, and quinoa.

a lot of antioxidant-rich nutrients in the formula too but possibly too many ingredients in low dosages!

AncientTrim makes it possible to add the protein, fiber, and essential amino acids of ancient grains. It's worth keeping in mind that 1 gram of fiber is not a lot, a small apple contains 3.6 grams of fiber.

In summary, there could be some health benefits to consuming Opti-Reds 50, especially from the “cardio health blend” due to the beets.

There are a lot of antioxidant-rich nutrients in the formula too but possibly too many ingredients in low dosages!

Opti-Reds 50 Reviews

I was unable to find Opti-reds 50 on Amazon where I like to see a balanced set of reviews from customers.

On the official website, there are a whopping 2515 customer reviews that are very positive about the supplement – an average of 4.9 out of 5, very good indeed! Of course, we are unable to validate these reviews as they are on the 1st Phorm website.

Even still, here are some of the customer reviews from the official site:

This product is great I mix with my greens and it give it a great taste.Raul C (5 stars)

Not really sure if this worked? I used it with the greens and saw no difference. I also tried using it separate thinking that might be the issue – but still nothing. It tastes amazing though! Didn't feel a thing – no energy boost, etc as all the reviews say. Too expensive to keep buying. Rebecca (3 stars)

It doesn't taste like Natural Berry at all (I really hate when a company says berries and it tastes nothing like berries because I love berry flavored stuff). I'm going to keep drinking it cause I want to see the effects (same with the greens) but be forewarned…tastes nothing like berries and really horrible (same with the greens)! Very disappointed!Lauren (1 star)

Money Back Guarantee / Returns Policy

The returns policy looks pretty good as 1st Phorm gives a 110% money-back guarantee, where they state:

If you are unhappy with any 1st Phorm product for any reason or your results with it, it can be returned for a FULL REFUND + 10% (minus shipping costs).

You only get 30-days to try and return the product from the original purchase date.

Where to Buy Opti-Reds 50?

The 1st Phorm official website stocks Opti-Reds 50 on its own or within a few different combo packs – “the daily stack”, “Level up stack” and “ultimate fat loss stack”.

I checked and couldn’t find 1st Phorm products for sale on Amazon.com.

Is It Worth the Price?

A one-time single tub purchase of Opti-Reds 50 costs $64.99. They do offer a subscription option delivered every month, for 2 or 3 weeks – this way can save you $10 per tub.

The uncertainly over ingredient dosages means it may not be the best value reds supplement on the market.

I like to work out the per-serving cost for supplements I review; Opti-Reds 50 works out to be between $1.83 to $2.17.

This is affordable although it would have been good to know the breakdown of ingredients in the formula to know exactly what we're taking.

The uncertainly over ingredient dosages means it may not be the best value reds supplement on the market.

The Bottom Line

The lack of transparency on ingredient amounts makes it impossible to assess how effective Opti-Reds 50 could be. Depending on how good your diet is already will influence how much of a difference you feel when trying this supplement.

The cost is affordable, so it could be worth a try, especially if you're a fan of 1st Phorm, and many customers are.

For me, I like to know exactly what I am consuming in a supplement, and so Opti-Reds 50 doesn't make my top reds supplement list.
