You have your greens powder but when is the best time to consume it? Should you be taking it before breakfast in the morning, in the afternoon, or in the evening before bedtime.
As long as greens supplements are sufficiently dosed, they provide the consumer with all of the essential vitamins and minerals needed daily, and they will boost the immune system, increase energy levels, support the digestive system, and aid with detoxing the body.
So, there’s pretty much no reason for you not to be taking a greens powder daily, and if you want to check out my greens supplement recommendations, it will guide you to the best ones out there.
If you are new to taking a greens powder, you might not be sure how you should fit it into your daily routine, or even how and when you should take it.
So, this article is here to answer all your questions surrounding the time you should take a greens powder, how often you should be consuming it, and how to consume it!
What Time Of Day Should I Consume Greens Powder?
Although different brands will recommend different things, you can pretty much take a serving of greens powder whenever works for you. So, don’t panic if you’re finding it difficult to fit in taking your greens powder at the time your greens powder brand recommends you to, you can just pick another time to consume it!
Saying that most people find it easiest and best to take their greens powder in the morning, either as their breakfast or with their breakfast.
Most people do this simply because it’s the easiest time for them to prepare something whilst they’re at home before heading out to work.
Taking a green powder in the morning is also widely done because as soon as you finish that green formula in the morning, you know that you’re all set with your nutritional insurance for the day before you’ve even started to eat.
Some people like to take their greens powder during their morning coffee break instead of a coffee, or during the afternoon slump (between 1-3 pm) to pick their energy levels up.
You simply have to see what time of the day suits you the best and get into a routine of taking it then.
However, do try to avoid taking greens powder at night (more on this further down).
How Should I Consume Greens Powder?
On the instructions label of most green powders, it will say that you should mix one recommended serving size into a glass of water and consume.
Obviously, you can do this, and this is what most people choose to do – it’s easy, quick and you don’t need to prepare anything other than fill up a glass of water and pop the powder in.
However, it’s no secret that most greens powders don’t taste that appealing, so a lot of people prefer to disguise the taste within a smoothie or juice. Some people like to pop a serving into their yogurt, bake with it, and create energy bars or use it within their cooking to make sauces, such as pesto.
As long as you’re getting the recommended serving size into your system every day, it’s up to you how you choose to consume it, so get creative and see what works best for you.

How Often Should I Consume Greens Powder?
Greens powders should be used as nutritional insurance, to make sure that you’re getting the essential micronutrients, vitamins, and minerals needed for daily optimum health.
Therefore, you should be consuming greens powder every single day. If you’re taking it every day, then you know that your nutritional intake is covered before you even start eating!
If you know that you’re immune system is going to be endangered (such as if you’re about to hop on a flight), or your diet has been particularly lacking in nutrients one day, you could actually make more than one serving of greens powder.
Of course, you shouldn’t overdose on greens powders frequently, but if you know that taking an extra dose might just help you out on a particularly tough day, there’s no harm in doing that.
On the other end of the spectrum, if you’re someone that only occasionally consumes greens powder, it will still obviously provide you with essential micronutrients on the days that you do, but you just won’t benefit from the other, more specific green powder health benefits like you would if you were to consume it consistently.
When Shouldn’t I Consume Greens Powder?
As briefly mentioned earlier, you shouldn’t consume greens powder at night, or before you go to sleep.
Some green powders contain green tea extract and occasionally ginseng which will increase your energy levels. Even the powders without these two ingredients will be so high in nutrients from the super greens ingredients that they will increase energy levels.
Obviously, the last thing you want to deal with is a rush of energy before you drift off to sleep. So, it’s always best to take a greens powder at least 2-3 hours before you plan on heading to bed.
Also, you don’t want to miss out on the energy increase during the day while you really need it, so try to consume your green powder at a suitable time for your body’s needs.
So, now that you have all of the information available to you about when you should and shouldn’t take greens supplements, how you should consume them, and how often you should consume them, it’s time to make a greens powder part of your daily routine!

Some Call This An "Extreme" Step...
Most super greens supplements are disappointing.
I learned this the hard way. After creating this blog in 2018, I spent months buying and testing all the most popular brands.
I wasn’t happy with the results so I did something you might call "extreme"....
In 2019 I created my own brand that ticks every single box of what I look for in a super greens product:
- No hidden ingredient amounts - we have full disclosure labelling, so you know EXACTLY whats inside
- Ingredient amounts that make a difference - we include the minimum effective amounts supported by research, and most of the time, MORE
- Ingredients that help immunity, boost mental clarity and shake off brain fog - making for a much more productive and happy lifestyle
No more worrying about ineffective ingredients or too low dosages. I finally have a product I KNOW does the job it’s made to do.
I use it every day and, after years of battling Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), I now have my energy (and my life!) back.
The good news? I made my brand available to the public so you can see and feel the difference for yourself.
