Athletic Greens vs Nested Naturals Super Greens

AG1 Athletic Greens vs Nested Super Greens

AG1 Athletic Greens and Nested Naturals Super Greens are both popular super greens formulas, sharing some of the same ingredients and with both brands claiming their respective formulas produce several similar health benefits.

Although the two formulas share many similarities, Athletic Greens sits in the higher price category of formulas, whereas Nested Naturals Super Greens is a low-cost formula perfect for those that are budget conscious.

Are you thinking about purchasing Athletic Greens or Nested Naturals Super Greens? Maybe you’re looking at one in particular and want to know more. Perhaps you’re stuck between choosing one of them? Either way, this article is here to help.

I’m going to be looking at each formula closely and comprehensively comparing both formulas, finally deciding which one comes out on top. So, check out my full Athletic Greens vs Nested Naturals Super Greens comparison below.

What is AG1 Athletic Greens?

AG1 greens is one of the most popular super greens formulas on the market – it’s highly regarded and known worldwide. The formula was initially created for athletes and those with active lifestyles, so it’s NSF Certified For Sport, meaning no banned substances or filler ingredients exist.

However, Athletic Greens now market the formula to a wider audience, claiming the formula is the ultimate daily greens powder for all.

Athletic Greens is one of the most fully packed super greens formulas on the market, with 75 ingredients including superfoods, grasses, herbs, digestive enzymes, and probiotics.

However, the efficacy of the formula is actually unknown because the formula doesn’t have a fully disclosed ingredient list and is made up of proprietary blends. I’ll be looking at the efficacy of the formula later on in a lot more depth, but it’s important to know that the lack of a fully disclosed label is a problem from the outset.

Before we look any closer at different aspects of Athletic Greens, let’s look at the overall pros and cons of the formula.

Athletic Greens pouch

PROS

  • It contains 75 powerful ingredients
  • NSF Certified For Sport
  • One of my favorite tasting formulas out there

Cons

  • Made up of proprietary blends
  • Expensive formula

What is Nested Super Greens?

Nested Naturals Super Greens is a highly regarded, low-cost super greens formula. The formula contains over 30 ingredients, including grasses, superfoods, probiotics, herbal extracts, and digestive enzymes.

The formula targets health-conscious people who are concerned with getting the right amount of micronutrients daily, with the brand claiming it’s ‘the whole works’ in one scoop.

Although the formula contains over 30 potent ingredients, unfortunately, all of these ingredients exist within proprietary blends, just like with Athletic Greens. Due to the fact proprietary blends are used, there’s not a fully disclosed ingredients label, and the formula's efficacy can’t be proved.

More on that later on in the review, though. First, let’s take a look at the pros and cons of the formula overall.

PROS

  • 30+ ingredients, including probiotics and digestive enzymes
  • Cheap in comparison to other formulas on the market

Cons

  • Made using proprietary blends (no fully disclosed list of ingredients)

Athletic Greens Vs Nested Naturals Super Greens Benefits

Athletic Greens

Athletic Greens is one of the best brands out there when it comes to talking about the benefits of the ingredients within the formula, and of course, the formula as a whole.

The brand dedicates an area of the website specifically to tell site visitors and consumers about each ingredient and its associated benefits. For example, “Barley Grass is an action-packed, nutrient powerhouse that includes vitamins, minerals, amino acids, chlorophyll, and polyphenol antioxidants”.

It’s impressive that the brand shows this much information about each ingredient, as the formula contains over 70 ingredients.

Overall, the brand claims that the formula will support the four key areas of health – immunity, energy, digestion, and recovery.

Nested Naturals Super Greens

Although Nested Naturals doesn’t go into as much detail as Athletic Greens does (it doesn’t share information about the benefits associated width each ingredient), the brand is still informative about the formula's benefits.

The formula is supposed to improve nutrition, boost energy levels, boost brain power, support immunity, and improve digestive health.

Nested Naturals does provide some information to back up the health benefit claims, but as mentioned above, it’s just not as in-depth as the information supplied by Athletic Greens.

For example, “Boost Your Energy – Super Greens is packed with phytonutrients to help promote healthy energy levels without the crash you get from caffeine, sugar or energy drinks”.

Athletic Greens Vs Nested Naturals Super Greens Ingredients

Athletic Greens

As mentioned above, Athletic Greens contains over 70 ingredients, 75 to be exact! As expected due to the sheer number of ingredients, there’s a wide range of ingredients and therefore the formula can supply a wide range of health benefits.
All of the ingredients are gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, non-GMO, and suitable for those on a vegan, paleo, and keto diet.

As wonderful as all of that might be, unfortunately, the formula is made up of proprietary blends. Proprietary blends are blends of several ingredients, and instead of information about the amount of each ingredient being available, only the amount of the blend as a whole is available.

Therefore, with Athletic Greens, since it contains proprietary blends, it’s impossible to know how much of each ingredient you will be consuming and whether the ingredients will actually be sufficiently dosed.

Normally it’s possible to make an informed guess as to whether a formula’s ingredients are sufficiently dosed or not, but in the case of Athletic Greens, it’s not so simple. There are so many ingredients in Athletic Greens, including those without standard recommended doses. The proprietary blends are heavily weighted, so it’s impossible to say whether ingredients will be sufficiently dosed.

So, it’s unclear whether Athletic Greens will actually work or not – if the formula had a fully disclosed ingredients label, this would be confirmed.

Nested Naturals Super Greens

Nested Natural Super Greens contains over 30 ingredients, as mentioned above, and it contains some of the same ingredients that feature in Athletic Greens. With a wide range of greens, grasses, fruit, herbal extracts, probiotics, and digestive enzymes, the formula is packed with potent ingredients that should provide an array of impressive health benefits to the consumer.

However, just like Athletic Greens (and a lot of other formulas on the market), the formula is made up of proprietary blends. As mentioned above, these are blends that contain multiple ingredients, and rather than the amount of each ingredient being shown, the amount of the blend is shown.

Since the blends in Nested Naturals Super Greens aren’t as packed with ingredients or as heavily weighted, it’s possible to come to an informed conclusion about whether the ingredients in the formula are sufficiently dosed.

The Alkalizing Blend weighs 3847mg (3.85g), and three of the ten ingredients within the blend have a higher recommended dose than this. Spirulina, chlorella, and wheatgrass have a daily recommended dose of 6g. This is nearly double the weight of the entire blend, so all of the ingredients can’t be sufficiently dosed.

Knowing this information, it’s unlikely that a single serving of this formula will provide a sufficiently dosed amount of all its ingredients.

Athletic Greens Vs Nested Naturals Super Greens Taste

Athletic Greens

Athletic Greens actually made it to the top of my best tasting greens list, even above my own formula, SuperGreen Tonik. So, that’s saying something!

I really like the taste of Athletic Greens, and I’m not the only one. There are countless numbers of customer reviews commenting on the pleasant and refreshing taste of the formula.

Athletic Greens is flavored using natural flavorings including papaya, pineapple, and cherry, and sweetened using stevia extract. It’s not overly sweet, but the bitterness is well disguised, meaning the formula tastes natural yet still enjoyable.

Nested Naturals Super Greens

Nested Naturals Super Greens are available in Original and Chocolate. The brand states that the original formula is ‘light and grassy with a hint of natural sweetness from monk fruit’ which I think is a really fair comment. This flavored formula is indeed grassy and natural tasting, so it won’t appeal to everyone.

The chocolate flavor is flavored using unsweetened fairtrade cacao powder and natural “essence of chocolate”. Customers aren’t blown away by the taste of this formula, saying it still tastes grassy and bland, with some even struggling to taste the chocolate flavor at all.

Athletic Greens Vs Nested Naturals Super Greens Cost

Athletic Greens

Athletic Greens formula is either sold as travel packs or in a pouch containing 30 servings of formula. As most supplement brands sell formulas in tubs containing 30 days, and Nested Naturals do too, let’s look at the price of the 30 serving pouch.

One pouch costs $97 which means the cost per serving is $3.23.

You can save 21% by signing up for a subscription with Athletic Greens, meaning the cost per serving would reduce down to $2.56.

Even with the subscription discount, this is one of the most expensive formulas on the super greens market. If this formula had a fully disclosed ingredients label and didn’t contain proprietary blends, I may say that it’s worth this price. However, it doesn't have a disclosed label and it’s made of proprietary blends, so in my eyes, it’s not worth this amount of money.

Nested Naturals Super Greens

Nested Naturals Super Greens are sold in tubs containing 30 servings of formula.

At the time of writing this, there was a 7% saving on the formula for some reason, so prices may have increased slightly since.

One tub of the formula costs $25.95, meaning the cost per serving works out at $0.87.

You can subscribe to the formula and save 10%, meaning the cost per serving would work out at $0.78.

Whether you choose to subscribe to the formula or purchase it on a one-time purchase, it’s incredibly cheap. Since the formula contains proprietary blends and doesn’t have a fully disclosed ingredients label, I would expect the price to sit around this mark.

Athletic Greens Vs Nested Naturals Super Greens: Which is Better?

I personally wouldn’t purchase either Atheltic Greens or Nested Naturals Super Greens, even though I like and appreciate both brands, when I know there are super greens formulas on the market with fully disclosed labels and no proprietary blends.

So, the first thing I’d say is, look for a formula that has sufficiently dosed ingredients and a label that’s fully transparent!

Choosing which one is the better formula is also difficult, and I have to say that they’re both very, very similar. I think Athletic Greens has to take it for me due to the fact it tastes better, has more ingredients, has a more informative website, and is very well-known.

However, Nested Naturals Super Greens would suit someone on a lower budget, as the pricepoint of the formula is much more reasonable.
