What Are The Ingredients In Athletic Greens/AG1?

What are the main ingredients in Athletic Greens (AG1) powders, and what health benefits do they offer you?

Knowing the ingredients of any health supplements before you purchase them is extremely important. You will want to ensure that your chosen supplement contains the valuable nutrients you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Read on to find exactly what you can find in Athletic Greens powders and drinks and why they are one of the best greens supplements!

Vitamins And Minerals

Vitamins and minerals are an essential part of any Athletic Greens supplement, so it's only fitting that AG1 is packed to the brim with them. There are various health benefits across the entire spectrum of vitamins and minerals found in Athletic Greens ingredients.

Most of the mineral and vitamin benefits of the unique AG1 formula are found in the many vegetable extracts in the powder. However, vegetables aren't all you can find in AG1 supplements.

Vitamins

Perhaps the main vitamin found in an AG1 supplement is vitamin c. Vitamin C is used to help absorb nutrients that, in turn, will boost your immune system and ensure your body can fight off a range of diseases and infections.

Vitamin B6 is also a valuable vitamin found within AG1 powders and supplements. It helps your body break down proteins into amino acids, one of the most important building blocks of the human body.

Inside the AG1 powder, you can also find Niacin. This important vitamin is used to repair cell damage and has even been known to help improve the health of your brain. Niacin can also help you maintain a healthy cholesterol level making it a precious vitamin in health supplements.

Minerals

One of the most prevalent minerals in AG1's unique mix is calcium. Calcium is incredibly important for maintaining healthy bones and teeth, and it is even known to help take care of your heart and nervous system.

As the AG1 mixture consists of a range of veggies, its Potassium count is incredibly high. Potassium is a valuable mineral and electrolyte for maintaining healthy blood pressure and supporting your nervous system.

You can also find many Magnesium sources in the AG1 formula. Magnesium is one of the most essential nutrients found in food and is used by your body to ease muscle cramps. Research has also suggested it can help you maintain healthy blood sugar levels!

Superfood Complex

Superfoods are exceptional for keeping your body healthy and supplying you with valuable minerals and vitamins. One of the most effective superfoods found in AG1 supplements is spirulina.

Spirulina is a nutrient-dense raw superfood that contains many of your body's needs, from antioxidants to important amino acids.

Another stand-out superfood used in AG1 supplements is organic alfalfa powder. This nutritional powerhouse supplies your body with a fantastic array of vitamins, including Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K2. It also contains a hefty supply of potent B-vitamins!

Although it isn't classed as a superfood, artichoke extracts are also found in AG1 powders. This worthy superfood vegetable is packed with effective antioxidants and a unique nutritional compound known as silymarin.

Silymarin is used by your liver to help treat liver conditions and can be used to boost the health of your liver before damage occurs naturally!

Dairy-Free Probiotics

Probiotics can be a great way to improve digestive health, but they are most commonly found in dairy products. AG1 contains a range of dairy-free prebiotics and probiotics, so even those who are lactose intolerant can enjoy Athletic Greens powders.

Probiotics are used by your digestive system to absorb nutrients and keep your immune network strengthened. They also ensure that your stomach can keep doing its job without potential complications.

One such probiotic that you can find in AG1 supplements is Bifidobacterium Bifidum. Bifidobacterium Bifidum is one of the most abundant probiotics found in your digestive system, so it makes sense it's used in AG1 powders.

Prebiotics are also found within AG1 supplements. These impressive little bits of fiber are consumed by probiotics, providing them with the energy needed to maintain your stomach and digestive health!

Digestive Enzymes: AG1 also includes some digestive enzymes to support the gut. to find out more about the differences between digestive enzymes vs probiotics check out my article.

Plant Extracts And Antioxidants

An excellent way to ensure your body can access the antioxidants it needs is through plant extracts. Plant extracts contain a wide range of minerals and vitamins that can improve your health, especially antioxidants.

Athletic Greens supplements contain organic barley leaf powder and organic wheatgrass juice powder, both of which contain valuable amino acids and polyphenol antioxidants.

Your typical AG1 supplement will also use spinach leaf powder jam-packed with vitamins and minerals, such as magnesium, potassium, and calcium. Spinach also contains unique carotenoids, powerful antioxidants that help your immune network protect you!

AG1 powders also use adaptogens, which help you control stress easier. Two of the most prevalent ingredients in AG1 supplements that contain adaptogens are eleuthero root and Rhodiola.

Enzyme And Mushroom Complex

Last but not least, Athletic Greens also contain an impressive enzyme and super mushroom complex.

Perhaps the most impressive mushroom found in AG1 is the shiitake mushroom. This adaptogen contains all eight amino acids your body requires, so it's a valuable addition to any health supplement.

You can also find reishi mushrooms in your Athletic Greens powder. Reishi mushroom powder supports your immune network making it a worthy ingredient in any health or immune-boosting supplement!

An unsung hero of digestive health is slippery elm bark powder. This uniquely named extract is most commonly used to treat gastrointestinal issues. It helps boost the natural development of membranes inside your stomach and can even work as a fantastic digestive aid!

Athletic Greens AG1 Ingredient Amounts?

All the ingredients in the AG1 blends are missing the individual weights within the formula. Only the total weight of the ingredients in the blend is known.

With AG1 using proprietary blends we do not know the exact ingredient dosages of each one in the formula.

AG1 is not alone in this practice as MOST greens supplements follow this practice of NOT disclosing each of the ingredient amounts in their formula.

This can be an issue in that we don't know if the supplement is sufficiently dosed. It is very likely that at least a few, if not many, of the ingredients are in too small amounts to have the health benefits promoted by the company.

How much Spirulina or Rhodiola?

We know the “Alkaline Superfood Complex” blend is 7,386mg in total but how much Spirulina is inside?

The health benefit of Spirulina is experienced when consuming 1-3 grams per day, similarly, Rhodiola's recommended intake is 100 mg to 300 mg. How much are you really getting in AG1!

    1. Hey Carol,
I took a closer look at the AG1 label and you can see Vitamin C is 420mg per serving. In terms of Iron though, there is no information on this. There will be some present in some of the leafy greens but because of the proprietary blend we don’t get to see how much of each ingredient dosage is included.
They only do one version of the AG1 and no iron-free version.
