Bioastin Hawaiian Astaxanthin Review

BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin Review

BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin by Nutrex is a natural Astaxanthin based formula. The formula is available in both gelatine capsules and vegan soft gels, making it a simple way to consume highly potent ingredients without having to worry about the taste!

Containing the potent antioxidant Hawaiian Astaxanthin, the capsules are supposed to not only push toxins from the body but also improve skin health, support vision, and improve joint health.

BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin is also non-GMO, gluten-free, lactose-free, pesticide and herbicide-free and if you’re vegan, there are even vegan capsules available, meaning this formula is available for a wide range of individuals.

BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin First Impressions

As soon as you open up the Nutrex website, it’s obvious that the brand really knows what it’s doing. Everything is slick and sophisticated and there’s a wide range of informative content.

I really like how both the brand’s social media accounts are linked with the website, showing a mixture of vibrant images and encouraging site visitors to follow the brand on social media.

There’s also a regularly updated blog and there’s an array of recipes for both of the brand’s products. There’s even an entire e-book about Astaxanthin, written by Dr. William Sears, MD, that’s free!

It’s safe to say that I’m really impressed with the Nutrex website and the look of BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin so far. Hopefully, when taking a closer look at the product, I’ll continue to be impressed.

Background on Nutrex Hawaii

Nutrex Hawaii was founded in 1990 by world-renowned microalgae expert, Dr. Gerald Cysewski. As well as the BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin capsules, the brand produces Hawaiian Spirulina Powder which I have actually previously reviewed if you want to check that out here!

The algae used in both of these products are farmed at Nutrex’s ponds on the Kona coast in Hawaii. Due to the strong, consistent sunlight in this area, the algae used in the products are superior in comparison to other strains on the market.

Nutrex is a company that’s been around for three decades and it’s had immense success, so I’m really keen to take a closer look at the BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin formula.

BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin Benefits

Nutrex claims that the BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin capsules provide a multitude of benefits for the consumer, as well as being a powerful antioxidant.

The capsules are supposed to support joint and tendon health, support the skin during UV exposure, decrease oxidative stress levels, help maintain healthy vision, and boost the recovery process after exercise

BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin Ingredients

There are 6 whole ingredients within the BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin gel capsules, and 9 whole ingredients in the vegan version of the capsules. I say whole ingredients because the formula also contains ‘naturally occurring carotenoids including lutein in a synergistic blend’.

In both the gel capsules and the vegan soft gels, the amount of Natural Hawaiian Astaxanthin is shown, but for the rest of the ingredients, there’s no weight information.

Therefore, unfortunately, the consumer has no idea how much of each ingredient they’re consuming apart from the Natural Hawaiian Astaxanthin. This seems a shame, but it might not be as bad as you think initially…

Later on, in this review I’ll be seeing if that really matters, seeing as these ingredients exist just to make the capsules and the Natural Hawaiian Astaxanthin is actually what we’re interested in.

I’m going to show the ingredients list of both the gel capsules and the vegan soft gel for the readers that have a plant-based diet.

Gel Capsules Ingredients

  • Natural Hawaiian Astaxanthin (from Haematococcus Pluvialis microalgae) – 12mg.
  • Other Ingredients – High Oleic Safflower Oil, Gelatin, Glycerin, Purified Water, Natural Tocopherols. Also contains naturally occurring carotenoids including lutein in a synergistic blend.

Vegan Soft Gel Ingredients

  • Natural Hawaiian Astaxanthin (from Haematococcus Pluvialis microalgae) – 12mg.
  • Other Ingredients – Extra Virgin Olive Oil, High Oleic Safflower Oil, Non-GMO modified cornstarch, Seaweed, Glycerine (vegetable), Sorbitol, Purified Water, Natural Tocopherols (from Sunflower Oil). Also contains naturally occurring carotenoids including lutein in a synergistic blend.

How does BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin Taste?

BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin isn’t available in a powdered form like most other supplements, instead, it’s available in gel caps. Therefore, you can’t really taste anything and it certainly isn’t grassy or overpowering.

The gel caps simply taste-neutral, making them easy to consume.

Side Effects

Nutrex doesn’t warn the consumer that there could be any side effects when consuming this formula.

However, as I always say with any supplement, if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, under 18 years old, on any medication, or have a medical condition, you should always consult a doctor before consumption.

Does BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin Work?

As mentioned above, when looking at the ingredients list, there are no amounts shown for any of the ingredients within the capsules apart from the Natural Hawaiian Astaxanthin.

Although this is typically a huge red flag for me when I’m looking at a supplement, in this case, it doesn’t actually alter my opinion of it. Of course, it would be nice if the brand could have shared the amounts of the other ingredients, but it’s not essential.

It’s not essential because the only ingredient that provides the consumer benefits is the Natural Hawaiian Astaxanthin itself, and the other ingredients simply make up the capsule.

You can purchase BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin is a selection of amounts, from 4mg to 12mg, and the amount of the ingredient you consume depends on the benefits you take from it.

Research has proven that if you take anywhere between 4mg – 16mg per day of Astaxanthin (Source), you will reap certain health benefits like the ones Nutrex mention for this product.

16mg is usually consumed by high performing athletes, and therefore you should try and consume between 4mg – 12mg, which is what Nutrex offers.

Therefore, it has to be said that this formula will work and you should receive health benefits from consuming it.

BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin Reviews

Although Nutrex has customer reviews for the BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin product, they’re all 5-star and they may be biased, so
I’m going to take a look at Amazon.

The product is available onAmazon, and there are 356 ratings, with the product scoring 4.8 stars out of 5 stars overall. Let’s take a look at some of these reviews below.

I had first purchased this at Costco and was amazed at how well my joints and body felt after taking it. For whatever reason, I stopped using it for many months and have become drastically stiff and am suffering from arthritis. After numerous Dr appointments, I decided to restart the BioAstin once again and am living proof that it works. By the 4th day I could feel a big difference in my joints, never again will I disregard the benefits of taking this little miracle pill.5-star review

There is an aftertaste for several hours later when taking these. I take first thing in the am just prior to eating oatmeal so it’s not on an empty stomach. I need to research the bioavailability of these and how the actual absorption takes place. I have been looking for relief from severe neuropathy and have not seen any changes so far in the past 3 weeks but I am sure it will take a while.3-star review

Never felt one bit of difference after taking the whole bottle. Disappointed.1-star review

Money-Back Guarantee / Returns Policy

Nutrex offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, but shipping costs are non-refundable.

Where to buy BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin?

You can purchase BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin from the Nutrex website, from Amazon, Walmart, Costco, and other third-party retailers.

Is It Worth The Price?

BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin is available in different sized tubs, ranging from 25 capsules to 120 capsules.

I’m going to take a look at the tub containing 120 capsules! One tub containing 120 capsules of 12mg formula costs $65.99. Nutrex recommends taking one capsule a day, meaning this tub would last 4 months.

The cost per serving is $0.55, which is an incredibly low cost per serving in comparison to other supplements on the market.

Nutrex ships both within the US and internationally. In the US, there’s a flat fee of $5.95 and if you order over $75 of products, shipping is free.

If you are ordering from anywhere else in the world, shipping costs depend on where you are and the weight of the order.

My Final Verdict

Just as I said when I reviewed the Hawaiian Spirulina by Nutrex a while back, this brand is worth checking out and the supplements it produces are of good quality.

The brand is transparent, informative, and authentic.

If you are looking to receive the health benefits mentioned in this article or you’re looking for a trusted Astaxanthin supplement, I would certainly recommend the BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin capsules.
