Laird InstaFuel Review

Laird Instafuel Review

Laird Instafuel is a coffee and creamer mix that contains phytonutrients too! The formula contains arabica coffee, coconut oil, and coconut sugar, as well as Aquamarin, a natural source of seaweed-derived calcium.

The brand has created the formula to make creating a coffee super simple, and to make your morning cup of joe a little more healthy! The formula is supposed to provide MCTs and over 70 trace minerals.

The Laird Instafuel formula is also available to a wide range of people since it’s dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, non-GMO, paleo-friendly, and suitable for vegans.

This formula is becoming increasingly popular on the coffee-alternative market, so I’m really keen to take a closer look at it and see if it really does provide the phytonutrient benefits that the brand claims it will.

Laird Instafuel First Impressions

The Laird website is really wonderful. I like the layout of the site, the branding, the recipe page, and the super informative sustainability blog.

It’s clear that the brand is popular too, with a large number of customer reviews on all of the products.

However, I’m not overly impressed by the Laird Instafuel formula at first glance, to be honest.

Although the branding is modern and definitely on-brand with the alternative lifestyle, there’s a real lack of information about the formula’s ingredients and benefits.

Hopefully, when I take a closer look at the formula it will impress me a little more!

Background on Laird Superfood

Laird Superfood was founded in Oregon, in 2015, by Dan Stauber. The brand produces coffee, coffee creamers, and mixed formulas, in an attempt to provide alternatives to energy and sports drinks.

The brand has become incredibly popular over the years, with a wide range of products, and most have more than 200 customer reviews.

Some of the products are incredibly formula, such as the Superfood Creamer having more than 2,000 reviews and the Instafuel formula having over 1,500.

Laird Instafuel Benefits

There is a real lack of information about the benefits of the Laird Instafuel formula, which isn’t great!

Laird Superfoods doesn’t provide any information about the benefits associated with the Instafuel formula in general. However, the brand does provide information about the benefits associated with the coconut oil and Aquamin in the formula.

Coconut oil is supposed to provide the consumer with MCTs (medium-chain triglycerides), and the Aquamin is supposed to provide 72 minerals in trace amounts.

The fact that the brand doesn’t even provide any more information about benefits associated with MCTs or the minerals of Aquamin just appears as if the brand can’t be bothered adding more information – I’m not keen!

Laird Instafuel Ingredients

The Laird Instafuel formula contains just 5 ingredients. Unfortunately, there is absolutely no information about the amount of each ingredient within the formula.

Therefore, it’s incredibly difficult to figure out if the formula will actually provide the consumer with any kind of benefits.

However, I’m going to tackle the efficacy of the formula later in this review.

First, take a look at the ingredients label.

Here is the complete list of the Laird Instafuel ingredients:

  • Coconut Milk Powder, Organic Coconut Sugar, Freeze-Dried Arabica Coffee, Aquamin (calcium from marine algae), Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.

Here is the supplement facts label:

How does Laird Instafuel Taste?

The Laird Instafuel formula is supposed to taste like regular coffee that contains creamer and sweetener. The formula is sweetened with coconut sugar, and the coconut milk powder and coconut oil act as creamer.

However, with regards to the taste of the formula, most customer reviews are negative. Even the people that feel as if they are enjoying the benefits of the formula tend to dislike the taste of it.

Overall, it’s a bitter-tasting formula, unlike a classic cup of coffee and creamer that’s got a kick but is smooth.

Side Effects

There’s a California Prop 65 warning associated with the formula, meaning it may contain exposure to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

This is obviously incredibly concerning.

Taking into account this warning and the general safety rule I give to any new formula, I would suggest that those who are taking medication, those with medical conditions, and those who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a doctor before consumption.

Does Laird Instafuel Work?

There is no information about the amount of each ingredient on the Instafuel label – they’re not even in proprietary blends, there is just no information about how much of each ingredient exists within the formula!

Therefore, it's impossible to work out the efficacy of the formula – as you might be able to tell, I’m incredibly unimpressed.

Since the formula’s serving size is 28g, it’s likely that the Arabica coffee in the formula hits the standard doses of 10g per cup of coffee.

It’s unclear if the formula will provide benefits since the ingredients label isn’t transparent at all, and the fact that there are so many carbs and so much saturated fat makes it a potentially unhealthy formula

However, seeing as the formula’s other ingredients do not have recommended doses, it’s absolutely impossible to work out if they will be sufficiently dosed or not.

In fact, since there are only a few ingredients in the formula and only one (Aquamin) that’s supposed to provide superfood benefits, it’s unlikely that the formula will provide a wide range of superfood-related benefits anyway.

However, we can take a look at the nutrition facts. There’s 9g of saturated fat in the formula and 13g carbohydrates, meaning it could actually provide detrimental health benefits.

Overall, it’s unclear if the formula will provide benefits since the ingredients label isn’t transparent at all, and the fact that there are so many carbs and so much saturated fat makes it a potentially unhealthy formula.

Laird Instafuel Reviews

Laird Instafuel is available on Amazon, and therefore we can take a look at a selection of unbiased, honest customer reviews on there!

The formula has more than 1,500 customer reviews, proving just how popular the product is, and scores an overall rating of 4.3 stars out of 5 stars.

So, let’s take a look at a selection of these reviews!

This instant coffee is so much different than plain old crystals. It has a very nice, somewhat sweet and coconut the flavor. I started using it because where I work, they got a one of those coffeemakers that uses those little tiny plastic things, a Carrig it has a very nice, somewhat sweet and coconut tea flavor. I started using it because where I work, they got a one of those coffeemakers that uses those little tiny plastic things, a Keirug. My spelling for Keirig is wrong I know I am not a fan of that type of coffee, so this instant provide me with a way to make a quick cup of coffee at work just with hot water. Very convenient and flavorful as an alternative to the mini cops so prevalent today.
5-star review

Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. I take my coffee regular, cream and sugar, I don't like it too sweet. But this coffee was really bitter, I couldn't enjoy it at all. Seems like it was lacking creamer or coconut sugar not as sweet as the one I'm used to. I was trying to find healthier coffee with simple ingredients but have to go back to Nescafe sticks. 3-star review

This product has a horrible, bitter taste. The coffee turns out watery and thin, and I even tried making it with more than the directions called for. I cannot drink this stuff. There are other coconut coffees out there that are delicious and creamy with nothing except coconut, no added creamer. They are also 1/3 the cost of this. I heard of this stuff from someone on YouTube raving about it. I tried to return it and found out they don't allow returns. It's a shame, I just threw away almost 30 bucks. 1-star review

Money-Back Guarantee / Returns Policy

Laird Superfood offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on all of its products.

Where to buy Laird Instafuel?

You can buy the formula from the Laird Superfood website and from Amazon.

Is It Worth The Price?

The Instafuel formula is supplied in differently sized pouches and packages. However, we’re going to take a look at the 1 package 16oz pouch that contains 8 servings.

You can either buy the formula as a one-off purchase or you can subscribe to receiving it regularly and benefit from a 15% discount.

One pouch of Instafuel formula costs $19.95 on a one-time purchase, meaning the cost per serving works out at $2.49.

One pouch of the formula costs $16.96 on a subscription, bringing the cost per serving down to $2.12.

I have to say that I find this formula extremely expensive for what it offers. If this formula was packed with superfoods, I would have a different judgment.

However, you’re basically just buying coffee for a more expensive price than you would buy a tub of standard coffee the same size.

Therefore, I don’t think it’s worth the price that it’s sold for.

My Final Verdict

I really wanted to like the Laird Instafuel formula, since I appreciate what the company is trying to do. However, I’m unimpressed with it!

The fact that there is no information about the amounts of the ingredients within the formula is a letdown since it’s impossible to know if the formula will actually be effective.

In addition, the taste of the formula is bitter, the cost of the formula is overpriced, and the brand doesn’t provide a lot of information about the benefits associated with the formula.

Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend this formula.

If you are looking for the benefits of coffee and superfood, I would recommend drinking a cup of coffee per day (or choosing an alternative formula that actually has a fully disclosed ingredients label!) and consuming a superfood formula too!

Regardless of whether you choose to go for an all in one superfood infused coffee formula, or you choose to drink coffee and consume a superfood formula too, you always need to consume a formula that has a fully disclosed label and can be proved to contain sufficiently dosed ingredients!

  1. I was trying to purchase the kachava but checkout only offered payoal not Shop, so transaction failed. Maybe it’s a blessing, hearing this stuff is loaded with sugar. With the steep pricing, one would really think otherwise.

As for Laird products, I love them very much, especially the turmeric version, and think they are a great energy boosting item, whether you put it in coffee, or just dissolve some powder in your mouth, which is ehat I like to do. To me they are simple healthy calories, maybe nit meant to compete with a superfood powder drink.
