Super U Clean Greens review

Super U Clean Greens Review

Super U is certainly a brand to look out for on the supplement market, especially if you’re in the UK because that’s where the brand is based! The Clean Greens formula is one of the brand’s best-selling supplements, packed with a selection of powerful super greens and superfood ingredients, all of which are certified organic.

The Super U Clean Greens formula is specially formulated to boost the immune system and provide the consumer with essential immunity-boosting vitamins and minerals. Although, the brand also claims that it will benefit the digestive system and increase energy levels too!

I had a sense of Deja Vu when I looked at Super U and I soon realized why. It's strikingly similar to another brand I have reviewed – Your Super Superfood Powder, a US-based superfood supplement company.

The packaging, branding, tubs, photoshoots, and even the story of the founders are incredibly similar!!

Even still, I’m really keen to take a closer look and review this formula because Super U is growing exponentially and flourishing in the UK supplement market, and the brand is run by a young couple, which is refreshing and interesting to see!

What is Super U Clean Greens?

I really really like the Super U website, and it’s rare for me to think a supplement brand’s website has hit the nail on the head! The couple that runs Super U is much younger than most brand owners, and that might be why the website looks so forward-thinking and aesthetically pleasing!

One of the things that stands out to me the most when initially looking at the website is the beautiful packaging that the formulas come in. Although the brand doesn’t actually shout a lot about eco-friendly packaging – the packaging is cardboard and not plastic, which is a big win for the environment.

The branding across the whole site and on the formulas is eye-catching, sleek, and minimalistic which is definitely what I look for in products. The blog, recipe page, and subscription club on the website are also great ideas!

Looking at the Clean Greens formula, I’m impressed by the formula at first glance. There’s a lot of information on the product page, from how to use the formula to the health benefits that come from each ingredient within the formula.

So far, I’m impressed by the brand and the look of the Clean Greens formula, so I’m looking forward to taking a closer look at the formula to see if it’s actually as beneficial as it looks initially.

Background on Super U

Founded in 2017, Super U is a supplement brand based in Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK. The brand specializes in creating organic, gluten-free, plant-based formulas, and each formula is made in the UK.

The founders are a couple, Sean Ali, 28, and Charlotte Bailey, 24. The pair met at University and decided to start the brand after Charlotte was diagnosed with coeliac disease and found her new diet very restrictive, making it difficult for her to have a proper intake of nutrition.

Super U Founders

Using Sean’s knowledge of superfoods from his travels around the world, the duo created their first couple of formulas, designed to improve people’s nutrition and provide a wide range of health benefits.

The Clean Greens formula is one of the brand’s best-selling formulas, but the brand also sells a variety of formulas, from matcha and cocoa to protein and mushroom coffee.

Super U Clean Greens Benefits

The Super U Clean Greens is formulated to boost the immune system by providing the consumer with essential immunity-boosting vitamins and minerals. The brand also claims that the formula will support digestion and boost energy levels.

Super U does talk about each ingredient and the benefits that derive from them.

For example,

Wheatgrass – A staple ingredient in all green smoothies and juices, Wheatgrass has earned its superfood label! Within wheatgrass, you’ll find vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and essential amino acids. It's the king of cleansing, so is great for supporting healthy gut activity.

The formula does contain superfood ingredients that would provide a wider range of other specific health benefits, but the brand has chosen to focus on immunity benefits, digestive benefits, and energy benefits.

Super U Clean Greens Ingredients

Super U Clean Greens only contains 8 ingredients. When I normally see formulas with small numbers of ingredients, I don’t feel concerned about it, because it’s all about quality over quantity. However, the 8 ingredients within this formula exist within a proprietary blend.

This means that there’s no information about the amounts of each ingredient within the formula, so there may not be a sufficient amount of ingredients to actually provide the consumer with claimed benefits.

I will be looking more at whether the formula will actually work or not a little later on in this review, but I feel disappointed as the brand looked so promising on first impressions!

Here is the complete list of Super U Clean Greens ingredients:

  • Baobab, Barley Grass, Chlorella, Moringa, Pineapple, Wheatgrass, Spirulina, Camu Camu Berry Powder

Here is the supplement facts label:

Clean Greens Ingredients label

With one of the founders of Super U suffering from coeliac disease, producing gluten-free formulas is essential to the brand, meaning the Clean Greens formula is gluten-free! It’s also certified organic and vegan.

How does Super U Clean Greens Taste?

Surprisingly, even though the formula doesn’t contain any flavoring ingredients, it tastes really good! The pineapple and Camu Camu berry within the formula makes the formula taste sweet and fruity, rather than grassy and green!

Side Effects

Super U doesn’t have any side effects warnings on the Clean Greens formula, and you shouldn’t experience any side effects by consuming this formula.

However, as I always recommend, if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, under 18, or suffer from a medical condition, it’s a good idea to speak to your doctor before taking any new supplement.

Does Super U Clean Greens Work?

Unfortunately, as the Super U Clean Greens formula doesn’t have a fully disclosed ingredients label, it’s impossible to figure out whether the formula will actually work or not.

The brand hasn’t even shown the ingredients label on pictures of the product on the product page, which isn’t very transparent – unless you looked at the amount in the tub and the number of servings, you wouldn’t know how much of a proprietary blend exists within the formula.

With 150g of formula in a tub of Clean Greens, and with 30 servings per tub, it means that there’s 5g per serving. Looking at some of the ingredients that have recommended daily dosages, we can try and see if the formula is sufficiently dosed!

The recommended daily dose of spirulina is between 1-3g, the recommended daily dose of chlorella is between 2-5g, and the recommended daily dose of wheatgrass is between 3-5g.

With the recommended bare minimum of these three ingredients adding up to 6g, it’s highly unlikely that each ingredient within this formula is sufficiently dosed.

Super U Clean Greens Reviews

Super U Clean Greens is available on Amazon, and there are 175 ratings on there! The overall rating of the product sits at 4.7 stars out of 5 stars, with over 84% of the reviews being 5-star reviews and no reviews under 3 stars. This is obviously really positive!

Let’s take a look at a selection of the reviews below.

The flavor of this super greens powder is superb. It doesn't taste as grassy due to fruit added from the pineapple, Camu Camu berry, and baobab. It's an overall great blend. I purchased the powder due to vitamin deficiencies and also getting tired easily. This powder has helped to combat that as I've noticed a surge in energy.5-star reviewer

This is a great blend of greens. I use it in smoothies or on its own in a glass of water. Only negative is the container. The lid is extremely difficult to remove… It's just too tight. I have had to decant the content into a jar. Great company to deal with.4-star reviewer

The powder does not smell terrible like other green smoothie mixes I’ve tried. Blends well into my morning smoothie, haven’t noticed any benefits yet but have only started using. I think the cardboard tube the product comes in is wasteful as it is only half full. The lid is difficult to remove, as is the aluminum foil covering. Also would have been good to see what percentage of wheatgrass etc is in the product as this is not listed.

Money-Back Guarantee / Returns Policy

Super U doesn’t offer a money-back guarantee.

The refund policy seems a little contradictory too, ranging from the brand stating you can return within 30 days of purchase, as well as stating that you can get a full refund until the 7th working day after the date of delivery.

Where to buy Super U Clean Greens?

You can buy Super U Clean Greens from the Super U website, Amazon, and a selection of other third parties online.

Is It Worth The Price?

One tub of Clean Greens costs £24.99 (approx $32.97), and with 30 servings, this makes the cost per serving £0.83 (approx $0.83).

You can subscribe and save 15% meaning that one tub would cost £21.24 (approx $28.02), and with 30 servings, this makes the cost per serving £0.70 (approx $0.92).

Regardless of whether you subscribe to save 15%, this is an incredibly cheap formula. However, I’d be surprised if it wasn’t cheap considering it doesn’t have a fully disclosed ingredients label and also under-dosed.

The Bottom Line

I have to say that I think the Super U brand is really interesting, and I’ll give credit where credit is due to the young couple for starting such a successful company!

I like everything about the brand (even though it's possibly been inspired by the Your Super), apart from transparency when it comes to the amounts of ingredients within formulas!

Unfortunately, you know that I’m a stickler for knowing what I’m putting in my body and for brand transparency, so I find it very difficult to say that I would recommend this formula.

However, as the formula is so cheap, I would say that if you’re allergic or intolerant to gluten and you’re looking for an organic green pick me up that’s not going to break the bank, this could be a good choice for you – you might just want to double up the serving size!
