Your Super Vs Athletic Greens

Your Super vs Athletic Greens

AG1 Athletic Greens is one of the most popular super greens formulas on the market, but there's a number of powders that are competing to knock it off first place, with the Your Super Greens formula being one of them.

Although the two formulas are both popular and look similar at initial glance, Athletic Greens has a wide range of ingredients and is targeted towards athletes mainly, whereas the Your Super Greens formula has a low number of ingredients and is targeted towards anyone and everyone looking for an easy nutrition boost.

Both Your Super and Athletic Greens seem to have similar core values, with both of the brands giving back to the world by partnering with charities and by focusing on sustainability. I’m a big fan of both of these brands and their core values, so it will be interesting to compare them!

If you’re thinking about purchasing either of these formulas or you’re stuck deciding which one you want to purchase out of the two, this article is here to help you decide which one’s better, by looking at how the formulas compete in different categories.

So, if you’re keen to take a closer look at both of these formulas and see how they compare against each other, check out my full Your Super vs Athletic Greens comparison review below.

What Is Your Super?

YourSuper Super Green Drink Mix

The Your Super Greens formula is a super greens formula (obviously, as the name suggests!) that contains 6 powerful superfood ingredients. The formula is USDA-certified organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, and vegan.

This super greens formula is targeted towards those that need a quick and easy boost of nutrition daily. Your Super doesn’t provide much information about the benefits you can gain from consuming the formula, apart from the fact that it boosts immunity, promotes digestive health, and provides essential vitamins and minerals.

Since the formula is free from flavoring ingredients and sweeteners, it does have a grassy greens taste that you would expect from these ingredients. Although personally, I don’t mind a natural-tasting super greens powder – it feels good to drink something clean!

Unfortunately, the brand doesn’t confirm how much of each ingredient exists within the formula, and if you’ve read my reviews before, you know how important it is for me to see a fully disclosed ingredients label, so this is a letdown for me.

Nonetheless, I’ll be taking a closer look at the formula’s ingredients a little later. First, let’s take a look at the pros and cons of the Your Super Greens Mix.

Pros

  • USDA certified organic
  • Some Potent superfood ingredients
  • Compassionate brand ethos

Cons

  • No amounts of ingredients are shown
  • Some people might find the taste too pungent

What Is Athletic Greens?

Athletic greens pouch review

Athletic Greens is a superfood formula made up of over 70 ingredients, and its powdered greens are formulated for athletes and those with active lifestyles. The formula is NSF Certified For Sport, it’s non-GMO, gluten-free, dairy-free, and lactose-free, and suitable for those on a vegan, paleo, keto, and DASH diet.

Unlike the Your Super formula, which only has a very small list of health benefits, the Athletic Greens formula contains so many ingredients, from greens and fruits to enzymes and probiotics, that it has a long list of benefits.

The formula is supposed to increase energy levels, aid digestion, support the immune system, push toxins from the body, support brain function, and much more!

Unfortunately, just like the Your Super Greens formula, the Athletic Greens ingredients label isn’t fully disclosed. However, at least the amounts of the blends within the Athletic Greens formula are shown, which is more than Your Super shows.

As mentioned above, I’ll look at the ingredients within the formula more closely later. First, let’s look at the pros and cons of Athletic Greens.

Pros

  • Contains 75 ingredients, including prebiotics, probiotics, enzymes, and adaptogens
  • Vegan-friendly, gluten-free, sugar-free, and nut-free
  • Easily dissolvable and tastes good!

Cons

  • Made using proprietary blends (no fully disclosed list of ingredients)
  • More expensive than other formulas, with a $3.23 cost per serving

Your Super Vs Athletic Greens Benefits

Your Super

As mentioned briefly above, Your Super Greens Mix only contains 6 ingredients, and the brand has only showcased three real benefits that the formula will provide to consumers as a whole.

The formula is supposed to boost immunity, support the digestive system, and provide essential vitamins and minerals such as calcium, potassium, folate, iron, and vitamin A, K, and C.

However, the brand does supply information about each ingredient within the formula and provide information about the health benefits that each ingredient provides.

For example, “Wheatgrass – A recent study shows that the chlorophyll, flavonoids, Vitamin A & E in wheatgrass benefit your immunity and help with oxidative stress”.

Athletic Greens

There’s a real abundance of information on the Athletic Greens website about the health benefits that the brand claims the customer will experience when they consume the formula.

Unlike the Your Super Green Mix formula, Athletic Greens contains a wide range of ingredients (over 70!), and the brand provides information about each of these ingredients and the benefits they provide.

For example, “Broccoli has 8 vitamins, 8 minerals, and both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Antioxidant-rich broccoli supports a low-inflammatory and low-allergenic diet”.

I think it’s really impressive that the brand has chosen to provide information about each ingredient within the formula because there are so many ingredients! I really appreciate it as it shows real dedication.

Overall, the Athletic Greens formula is supposed to provide the consumer with eight main benefits – supported immune system, supported energy levels, supported digestion, supported liver function, supported hormone function, supported brain function, supported blood sugar levels, and the formula is supposed to aid with pushing toxins from the body and protecting cells from radical damage!

I would have to say that Athletic Greens seems more impressive than the Your Super formula when looking at the health benefits of both formulas.

Your Super Vs Athletic Greens Ingredients

Your Super

Your Super Greens Mix contains 6 ingredients – Organic Wheatgrass, Organic Barley Grass, Organic Moringa, Organic Baobab, Organic Spirulina, Organic Chlorella.

Although all of these ingredients are potent ingredients, they only provide their impressive health benefits if they’re sufficiently dosed, and unfortunately, it’s impossible to know if these ingredients are sufficiently dosed within this formula because the brand hasn’t provided information about the amounts added.

The serving size of the formula is very small – 5g!

Unfortunately, looking at the recommended daily doses of most of the ingredients within the formula, it’s safe to say that not all of the ingredients will be sufficiently dosed.

For example, the minimum recommended daily dose of spirulina, chlorella, and wheatgrass combined comes to 6g, and that’s only half of the ingredients within the formula!

Your Super Greens label

Athletic Greens

Athletic Greens contains 75 ingredients, which obviously makes the formula more diverse than the Your Super Greens Mix.

However, there’s also a problem with the Athletic Greens formula – the ingredient’s list isn’t fully disclosed either. Instead, all of the ingredients within this formula exist within proprietary blends, and therefore it’s impossible to figure out how much of each ingredient exists within the formula.

Due to the fact that there are so many ingredients, and most of the ingredients don’t have recommended daily doses, it’s impossible to work out if each individual ingredient is sufficiently dosed or not.

The only saving grace when it comes to then Athletic Greens proprietary blends is that they’re heavily weighted, which hopefully means that at least some of the ingredients within the formula are sufficiently weighted.

Athletic Greens supplement label

Your Super Vs Athletic Greens Taste

Your Super

The Your Super greens mix doesn’t contain any flavoring ingredients or sweeteners, so it tastes like you’d expect super greens to taste – it’s grassy and pungent. The brand claims that it tastes like lemon and greens, and personally, I think this isn’t a great combination.

However, I’m not put off by the fact that the formula doesn’t contain any flavoring or sweetening ingredients. In fact, I actually like a super greens supplement to taste like it’s healthy for me.

However, other people might be put off by this natural flavor.

Athletic Greens

I really like the taste of Athletic Greens, so much so that I actually listed it as the best-tasting supplement on my best tasting greens powders list!

Although the formula isn’t labeled as tasting of a specific flavor, Athletic Greens is flavored with papaya, carrot, cherry, pineapple, vanilla, broccoli (surprisingly), and sweetened with stevia extract.

In my opinion, Athletic Greens is refreshing and clean tasting.

Your Super Vs Athletic Greens Cost

Your Super

The Your Super Greens Mix comes in containers with 30 servings of the formula inside. One container costs $34.90, and therefore the cost per serving works out at $1.16.

You can save 20% if you decide to subscribe to receive the formula regularly. If you chose to subscribe, the formula would have a cost per serving of $0.93.

Obviously, this is a cheap cost per serving in comparison to other super greens formulas on the market. However, I would expect an insufficiently dosed formula such as this to be no more expensive than it is.

For what it is, I think the formula is fairly priced considering the dosing is most likely under par. I would prefer to pay more for a formula I knew was actually going to work.

Athletic Greens

Athletic Greens is much more expensive than Your Super Greens Mix.

Just like Your Super, Athletic Greens is packaged in a pouch containing 30 servings. The cost of one pouch is $97, which works out at a cost per serving of $3.23.

You save 21% if you choose to subscribe to the formula, which would work out at a cost per serving of $2.56.

Although I do understand why the formula is more expensive than Your Super Greens Mix. For this kind of price mark, I want to see a fully disclosed ingredients label.

Your Super Vs Athletic Greens: Which is Better?

Although both formulas have their own unique pros and cons, I have the same problem with both – I really like both of the brands and their core values and ethos, but I can’t appreciate the fact that neither of them has fully disclosed ingredients labels.

I wouldn’t purchase either of the formulas myself, as I would prefer to opt for a formula that doesn’t include proprietary blends and has a fully disclosed ingredients label.

However, I would say although the Your Super Greens Mix might be good if you’re on a budget, the Athletic Greens formula probably takes the win for me when comparing these formulas.

Athletic Greens has more ingredients and some of these ingredients will potentially be sufficiently dosed, and it tastes really good!

  1. Hi, I always shake my Athletic Greens mixture and then let the bigger particles settle to the bottom, and the only drink the first 3/4, and dump out the bottom 1/4 which is thick and grainy…yuck. I am sure I am not getting the max nutrition but I just find the larger, harder grainy particles in Athletic Greens to be disgusting. My question is…does Your Super dissolve better, or does it also settle to the bottom this way? Thanks!
