Applied Nutrition Critical Greens First Impressions
The Applied Nutrition website has some interesting photos, informative blog posts, and sleek branding. However, both the general website and the product pages, including the Critical Greens page, is lacking information.
Since the Critical Greens page is lacking information about the formula and its benefits, I don’t have a very clear first impression of the product, which is a shame!

Background on Applied Nutrition
Applied Nutrition was founded in 2016 by Thomas Ryder. The company is based in Liverpool and is labeled as one of the biggest nutrition brands in the UK and Europe since it aims to revolutionize and reinvent the energy drink market.
The company produces a number of energy and performance-enhancing supplements, from energy drinks and superfood powders to low-calorie foods and protein.
Critical Greens Benefits
There’s actually no information about the benefits associated with the Critical Greens formula apart from the fact that it is supposed to boost your immune system.
The ingredients within the formula, if sufficiently dosed, can provide a wide range of benefits in addition to boosting the immune system, so it’s unclear why the brand isn’t marketing these benefits.
Applied Nutrition Critical Greens Ingredients
The Critical Greens formula contains 17 ingredients in total. All of the ingredients, and the amounts of each of them, are fully disclosed on the ingredients label, which is great when it comes to working out the efficacy of the formula.
However, I’ll be looking at the efficacy of the formula later in this review.
First, let’s take a look at the ingredients!
- Pea Protein Powder – 1960mg
- Spirulina Powder – 700mg
- Alfalfa Powder – 300mg
- Barley Grass Powder – 300mg
- Wheat Grass Powder – 300mg

Here is the supplement facts label:
How does Critical Greens Taste?
Critical Greens is not flavored or sweetened, therefore it has a completely natural taste.
Although there are no negative reviews about the taste of the formula, the natural taste of a greens powder may be a little pungent for some!
Side Effects
Applied Nutrition warns that the formula should not be consumed by anyone under 18, or anyone pregnant, nursing, with a medical condition, or taking medication, before consulting with a doctor first.
Does Applied Nutrition Critical Greens Work?
The Critical Greens ingredients label is fully disclosed and there are no proprietary within the formula meaning it’s easy to see how much of each ingredient exists within the formula.
This makes it simple to work out the efficacy of the formula.
So, let’s take a look at the ingredients with standard recommended doses and compare the recommended doses to the amounts within the formula to see if they are sufficiently dosed!
There’s 700mg of spirulina within the formula, and with spirulina having a recommended dose of between 3-5g, this ingredient is clearly not sufficiently dosed.
There’s 300mg of wheatgrass in the formula, meaning it’s also not sufficiently dosed, since the recommended dose of wheatgrass is 3,000mg.
There’s only 80mg of green tea extract in the formula, and since green tea has a recommended dose of between 250–500 mg, this is also an insufficiently dosed ingredient!
Overall, it’s clear that the ingredients within the formula that have recommended doses are not sufficiently dosed.
Therefore, these ingredients may not provide the benefits that the brand claims they will, meaning the formula may not be effective.
Applied Nutrition Critical Greens Reviews
Although Critical Greens is available on Amazon, there are no customer reviews on there! Therefore, we have to take a look at the Applied Nutrition website to see customer reviews of the product.
Unfortunately, there are only 5 reviews of the product, and they’re all rated 5-star. Therefore, although we will take a look at them, do be aware that they may be biased.
Let’s take a look at some of these reviews!

Where to buy Applied Nutrition Critical Greens?
You can buy Critical Greens from the Applied Nutrition website and Amazon.
Is It Worth The Price?
Critical Greens is available in either 30 serving tubs or 50 serving tubs.
You can either buy the formula on a one-time purchase or by using Klarna, a payment platform that allows you to pay in segments.
One 30 serving tub of Critical Greens costs $12.99, meaning the cost per serving works out at $0.43.
One 50 serving tub of Critical Greens costs $19.95, meaning the cost per serving works out at $0.40.
Although this formula is cheap, since it has such a small serving size and contains a number of ingredients that are not sufficiently dosed, I still wouldn’t say the formula is worth it.
My Final Verdict
Although Applied Nutrition is a popular supplement company and their other formulas may provide benefits to consumers, the Critical Greens formula doesn’t seem to be quite as impressive.
Unfortunately, since a number of ingredients within the formula are not sufficiently dosed and the serving size is so small, it’s unlikely that the consumer will benefit from the formula.
Therefore, although the formula is cheap, I wouldn’t recommend it, since it doesn’t provide a sufficient dose of ingredients!
If you have a bigger budget, I would recommend purchasing a super greens formula that actually contains sufficiently dosed ingredients and is certain to provide you with health benefits.
LifeHacker Guy Greens Recommendation
Some Call This An "Extreme" Step...
Most super greens supplements are disappointing.
I learned this the hard way. After creating this blog in 2018, I spent months buying and testing all the most popular brands.
I wasn’t happy with the results so I did something you might call "extreme"....
In 2019 I created my own brand that ticks every single box of what I look for in a super greens product:
- No hidden ingredient amounts - we have full disclosure labelling, so you know EXACTLY whats inside
- Ingredient amounts that make a difference - we include the minimum effective amounts supported by research, and most of the time, MORE
- Ingredients that help immunity, boost mental clarity and shake off brain fog - making for a much more productive and happy lifestyle
No more worrying about ineffective ingredients or too low dosages. I finally have a product I KNOW does the job it’s made to do.
I use it every day and, after years of battling Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), I now have my energy (and my life!) back.
The good news? I made my brand available to the public so you can see and feel the difference for yourself.
