ONNIT Total Human Review: Benefits, Ingredients, and Cost

If you haven’t heard of ONNIT, you might not know what you’re missing. They’re one of the biggest, best, and most established supplement and nootropic companies that’s on the market today.

I’ve already written reviews on many of their top products, including Alpha Brain, Shroom Tech, and more. But in this review, we’ll be taking a look at one of the most comprehensive ONNIT products of all: Total Human.

What is ONNIT Total Human?

ONNIT Total Human is essentially a compilation/collection of several of their other top supplements. Unlike the rest, however, Total Human is specifically designed to make supplementation simple.

ONNIT claims it contains everything you need to energize your day and promote restorative sleep at night. Think of it like an incredibly holistic multivitamin, if you will.

Here’s how ONNIT puts it:

There are a thousand different vitamin and mineral supplements out there. Buying all of them would cost a fortune, and most aren’t even helpful. So which ones do you really need, and how much is enough?

A possible solution is found in Total Human®, a supplement that aims to contain as many essential vitamins, minerals, and botanicals as possible. It combines several of ONNIT’s best-in-class product formulations into two packs: a Day Pack and a Night Pack.

If you’d rather not buy dozens of different supplements from handfuls of different brands, ONNIT’s Total Human might be perfect for you.

ONNIT: A Pioneering Supplement Brand

ONNIT was founded by Aubrey Marcus, a bestselling author, biohacker, and self-proclaimed “Human Optimizer.” Aubrey created ONNIT with the intention of helping people reach their full mental and physical potential.

Virtually all of ONNIT’s products are based on this goal. Most of them are nootropics — products designed to boost your brain power.

Aubrey’s approach is just as compelling as his mission.

All of ONNIT’s products come with a Quality Promise that they’ve been carefully sourced and extensively tested. Aubrey even offers an ONNIT Academy where you can become certified to promote his brand of the fitness lifestyle.

ONNIT Total Human Ingredients

Think of ONNIT’s Total Human as a combination of many of their other supplements — divided into Day and Night packs.

The Day pack is designed to be energizing and pro-metabolic, the Night Pack is designed to calm down your system and strengthen your immune system.

All in all each Pack contains a huge collection of active ingredients. Here’s a closer look.

ONNIT Total Human Day Pack: key ingredients

Total Human’s Day Pack contains elements from Alpha BRAIN, Shroom Tech, Stron Bone, and Total Human B complex. Below are the details.

Alpha BRAIN®

Alpha BRAIN is designed to support alpha brain waves. It may also support the production of feel-good neurotransmitters, resulting in clearer cognitive function, less brain fog, and increased productivity.

Shroom Tech® SPORT

Shroom Tech harvests the power of fungi to support mitochondrial energy production.
It also contains adaptogens and one of the most energizing B vitamins of all, B12 (methylcobalamin).

Stron BONE®

You read that right — stron BONE, not strong BONE. Named after its strontium content, Stron Bone also contains boron and other bone-builders.

Total Human® B Complex

B vitamins do best in pairs or complexes. ONNIT’s B Complex is designed to “support energy production, cognitive performance, and neural communication.” These B vitamins come in their methylated form for optimal absorption.

ONNIT Total Human Night Pack: key ingredients

While there’s some overlap between the Day Pack and Night Pack, each Pack has its own highlights. ONNIT puts it this way: “Just as you wouldn't drink coffee to fall asleep, the ingredients that assist you when you’re at work or working out are not the same ones you need to help you relax and recover at the end of the day.”

The ingredients in ONNIT’s Day and Night Packs reflect this distinction. Here are the highlights.

New MOOD®

New MOOD is designed specifically to shut down the stress response. It contains a combination of Valerian root, lemon balm, and other anti-stress ingredients. A solid body of research supports the idea that Valerian could help with sleep. (source)

VIRUTech®

Designed to support your immune system, VIRUTech features known immune boosters like Vitamin C, zinc, and selenium. Research shows that selenium deficiency is associated with increased susceptibility to infection.

Key Minerals

In addition to these blends, ONNIT’s Night Pack contains a slew of trace minerals and metals designed to reduce your chance of developing nutrient deficiencies. These include boron, calcium, iodine, magnesium, and molybdenum.

ONNIT claims this blend provides “total body support and optimization.”

ONNIT Total Human Day and Night Packs: overlapping ingredients

In addition to the specifics mentioned above, ONNIT’s Day and Night Packs also share some overlapping ingredients. That’s probably because these ingredients don’t contain any sleep-specific qualities. The ingredients in this category include:

  • Shroom Tech IMMUNE
  • Krill oil
  • Spirulina & Chlorella

Shroom Tech®IMMUNE

This pro-immunity blend contains mushrooms, herbs, and turmeric, all in hopes of supporting the body’s innate immune system.

Krill Oil

Krill oil is a great source of essential fatty acids like EPA & DHA — an even better source than fish oil. Krill Oil also contains astaxanthin, an antioxidant, and carotenoid that may improve skin health.

Spirulina & Chlorella

Spirulina and chlorella are superfood greens with incredible antioxidant values. They’re included in both the Day and Night Packs for the micronutrients they contain.

Here is the supplement facts for both the Day and Night packs:

ONNIT Total Human: Does It Have Side Effects?

ONNIT’s Total Human has one major potential downside: its side effects. Take a look at the product’s Amazon reviews and you’ll see that some people just don’t respond well to Total Human. This can show up in the form of nausea, stomach upset, or even diarrhea.

For some people, these side effects are worth dealing with:

Day 1: Didn’t take 1st Day pack with breakfast. Immediately passed most of it in my first trip to the bathroom. Still could feel an uptick in energy & focus. Night pack had an immediate positive impact on sleep. It gave me TylenolPM depth of sleep with little grogginess the next morning. Came out of the fog very quickly.

For others, not so much:

I do not know whether it was Alpha Brain or some other ingredient but after taking the day pack I felt light-headed and sick on my stomach for much of the day, it was like my brain was in a fog. I have never had any problem with any other supplement before so it was a surprise that I reacted this way. I took them the next day to see if it was a one-off experience but I felt the same way the next day. After stopping I am back to feeling normal.

If Total Human is making you feel nausea or gastric distress, it might be worth “pushing through” the initial discomfort. If it’s making you feel brain fog, on the other hand, it may not be right for you.

Does Total Human really work?

The vast majority of people experience tangibly positive benefits from Total Human.

That being said, we simply can’t be sure if the active ingredients present in Total Human are present in large enough quantities. That’s because many of these ingredients are part of ONNIT’s proprietary blends and are only listed in terms of the total weight of each blend — not its individual components.

ONNIT’S Total Human Night Pack, for example, contains 225 milligrams of a proprietary Tranquility Blend.

This Blend contains valerian, passionflower, lemon balm extract, and jujube seed extract.

At first glance, this might seem like an impressively diverse blend…but the fact that 4 substances total up to 225mg practically guarantees that none of these substances are present in significant qualities.

Valerian root doses alone should be dosed in the 300-600mg range if being used for sleep! (source)

Valerian Root

This can be the issue with supplements that claim to be an “all-in-one” solution (the same with popular AG1 Greens) in that it's going to mean under-dosing with some ingredients

Total Human: Top Reviews

As of June 22, ONNIT’s Total Human has 3,331 Amazon reviews averaging 4.6 stars.

“It's like a cheat code — but give it time,” says one verified buyer.

This particular buyer said that, while they noticed an improved mood almost immediately, it was only on day 5 that they noticed increased athletic performance. By day 15 they felt more resilient to colds. They also began sleeping better, as verified by their Fitbit Versa.

Total Human also has the backing of pro athletes. Professional boxer Tony Jeffries calls it his “dream product.” It’s “everything you need in one box,” he says.

It’s simple to take, keep track of, and absolutely full of goodness that helps me perform to my absolute best during the day and helps me destress, relax and sleep at night. This right here is a life changer.

How to take Total Human

Taking Total Human is simple: just take one full Day Pack each morning and one full Night Pack each night.

According to ONNIT’s founder Aubrey Marcus himself, Total Human is a great place to start off with health and wellness optimization. It may be perfect if you don’t have the time, money, or desire to try endless numbers of other supplements. “[…] We created Total Human to make it super easy for anyone to get the next-level daily vitamins and nutrients they need to be at their best,” he says.

Think of Total Human as a foundational supplement. Pair it with a healthy diet and you should have just about everything you need!

That being said, ONNIT designed Total Human to be compatible with every other ONNIT product. Feel free to take a Day Pack and a serving of Alpha BRAIN each morning, or a Night Pack and a serving of New Mood each evening. (Just keep in mind that this sort of mix-and-matching might become expensive fast.)

ONNIT Total Human: Where to Buy

You can buy Total Human on ONNIT’s website or on Amazon. Order a subscription if/when you decide you’d like to take Total Human for the long run.

ONNIT Total Human: how much does it cost?

A 30-day supply of Total Human costs $124.16. That might seem like a lot — and it is — but ONNIT argues that it’s not so much compared to other supplements/substances we use daily:

  • Individual supplements: $7.68
  • Large latte: $4.95
  • TOTAL HUMAN: $4.60
  • TOTAL HUMAN subscription: $3.91

We’re not quite sure where the $7.68 figure comes from, but some people surely do pay that much and more. We’re also not sure that Total Human should be compared to a latte, as their product probably isn’t as energizing as such a large dose of caffeine.

Our Reviews of Other Top ONNIT Products

We’ve also reviewed plenty of other ONNIT products. Check out the following reviews if you’re interested in layering Total Human with more specialized supplements!

Shroom Tech Greens

ONNIT’s Shroom Tech Greens provides an interesting combo: adaptogenic mushrooms and greens. (Shroom Tech Greens and Supergreen Tonik Review are two of the few greens powders that feature this combo.) Read our review of it here.

Total Gut Health

A step up from conventional probiotics, Total Gut Health provides a comprehensive way to improve your gut’s bacterial diversity. Feel free to check out our review of it here.

New Mood

New Mood is a specialized supplement with a pretty specific goal: to help you get your smile on. But does it work? Our New Mood Review explains more.

Alpha Brain

Alpha Brain makes big claims about being able to change your brain waves, eliminate brain fog, and more. It backs them up…in some cases. The details are in our Alpha Brain Review here.

ONNIT Total Human: My Verdict

We’ve reviewed quite a few ONNIT products recently, and we’ve found all of them to be winners when it comes to nutrient profiles, product testing, and general quality.

The only drawback to Total Human is one that’s common to so many other supplements: its proprietary blends lead to a lack of transparency. We can’t be sure exactly how much or how little of certain ingredients are in Total Human.

Another potential downside: compared to more conventional daily multivitamins, this one is quite pricey.

It might be more effective than conventional multi’s, sure, but is that really worth the steep price point? For many of ONNIT’s most loyal customers, it sure is.
