Detox Organics vs Athletic Greens (AG1)

Detox Organics vs Athletic Greens

Detox Organics and Athletic Greens are both really popular formulas on the market, so if you’re interested in the super greens industry or if you’ve searched for a super greens formula before, you will have most likely seen these formulas before!

Although both formulas are marketed as easy supplements for everyone to take, Athletic Greens is more specifically formulated for athletes, and Detox Organics states that the formula can be used as a meal replacement and will aid with weight loss.

From the branding to a lot of ingredients within the formulas, Detox Organics and Athletic Greens appear very similar and probably attract a similar kind of customer, so I’m super intrigued to compare them.

If you’re someone that’s trying to decide which of these formulas to purchase, this article takes away all of the hassles of having to look at separate health benefits information about each formula, compare ingredients lists, and scroll through reviews about each of them.

So, without further adieu, let’s get into it – take a look at my full Detox Organics vs Athletic Greens comparison review below.

Detox Organics vs Athletic Greens (AG1)

What is Detox Organics?

Detox Organics is a superfood formula that contains a wide range of ingredients such as fruits, herbs, and root extracts, with the majority of the formula being made up of super greens.

The formula is marketed as an easy supplement to take daily that supplies the consumer with the essential vitamins and minerals needed for good daily health, as well as a meal replacement shake that can help with weight loss.

Detox Organics, as the name suggests, is formulated to detoxify the body, and the brand also claims that it alkalizes and rejuvenates it too!

The formula is USDA certified organic, which means over 95% of the ingredients are organic. Eating organically is something that’s become much more popular over time, so this is most likely one of the reasons that the formula is so popular.

Detox Organics is heavily flavored, with a chocolate flavor, which a lot of people are incredibly keen on!

Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of the formula as a whole first before we dive a little deeper.

My Detox Organics Sachet

Pros

  • USDA certified organic
  • Tasty chocolate flavor
  • Popular brand

Cons

  • Made using proprietary blends (no fully disclosed list of ingredients)

What is Athletic Greens?

Founded in 2008, Athletic Greens has become one of the most popular super greens formulas on the market currently. Athletic Greens is a greens powder specifically formulated to benefit athletes (hence the name!), but since showcasing the formula, the brand has opened up the target audience to anyone looking for a daily boost of essential nutrients.

Packed with 75 ingredients, the formula is supposed to not only provide the consumer with the essential nutrients needed for the best possible state of daily health but provide health benefits such as increased energy levels and better digestion too!

Featuring super greens, herbs, adaptogens, enzymes, probiotics, and prebiotics, Athletic Greens certainly provides a wide range of ingredients to the consumer in one single serving.

However, just like the Detox Organics formula, one of the biggest problems with Athletic Greens is the fact that the formula is made up of proprietary blends. This means that as customers, it’s impossible for us to know how much of each ingredient is within the formula – proprietary blends are the worst!

However, of course, I’ll be taking a look at the ingredients label in more detail a little later on. First, let’s take a quick look at the pros and cons of the formula as a whole.

Athletic Greens (AG1) Pouch

Pros

  • Contains 75 ingredients, including prebiotics, probiotics, enzymes, and adaptogens
  • Vegan-friendly, gluten-free, sugar-free, and nut-free
  • Easily dissolvable and tastes good!

Cons

  • Made using proprietary blends (no fully disclosed list of ingredients)
  • More expensive than other formulas, with a $3.23 cost per serving

Detox Organics Vs Athletic Greens Benefits

Detox Organics

Detox Organics has much less information about the formula’s health benefits in comparison to Athletic Greens. In fact, the formula has a real lack of information when it comes to potential health benefits.

I think it’s essential to market the health benefits of a supplement, otherwise, how do potential customers know why they should be purchasing this formula? To me, it just seems a little silly that this brand isn’t really pushing the benefits of the formula.

Nonetheless, let’s take a look at the health benefits that the brand does mention!

Detox Organics is supposed to aid with digestion, increase energy levels, increase nourishment, and reduce bloating.

As the brand also suggests that the formula could be taken as a meal replacement shake, it also claims that the formula can aid with weight loss.

Athletic Greens

There’s a real abundance of information on the Athletic Greens website about the health benefits that the brand claims the customer will experience when they consume the formula.

I really appreciate the fact that the brand has added so much information about the health benefits of the formula as a whole as well as the health benefits that derive from each specific ingredient – it’s very similar to my website in this sense and I’m really keen on potential customers being shown informative content, so this is a really big positive in my eyes!

The key areas of health that the Athletic Greens formula targets are immunity, energy, digestion, and recovery.

The overall benefits of the Athletic Greens formula are that it’s supposed to boost the immune system, support the digestive system, increase the level of nutrient absorption, reduce stress levels, aid with muscle recovery, protect cells from radical damage, and support the nervous system.

Overall, the Athletic Greens formula certainly outshines Detox Organics in terms of potential health benefits.

Detox Organics Vs Athletic Greens Ingredients

Detox Organics

Detox Organics contains over 30 ingredients, with a wide range of ingredients being categorized in terms of benefits and made into proprietary blends that feature in the formula. For example, “Detox and Cleansing Blend”.

I find it such a shame that the Detox Organics formula is made up of proprietary blends as it makes it impossible for consumers to figure out how much of each ingredient actually exists within the formula and whether the formula will actually provide the benefits that the brand claims it will.

Detox Organics Supplement Label

Although the proprietary blends in this formula are mostly likely underdosed (1.7g for 12 ingredients!), my main problem with the formula is the fact that the proprietary blends only make up half of the serving size.

The other half of the serving size (around 8g), is the flavoring ingredients, of which there are only five – cocoa powder, salt, guar gum, luo han guao, and cinnamon.

This is such a significant amount that it’s clear to me the brand has used the flavoring ingredients as filler ingredients within the formula. I’m absolutely not OK with that!

Athletic Greens

Athletic Greens contains 75 ingredients, which is a lot of ingredients to be packed into one formula!

However, there’s an incredibly wide range of ingredients within the formula, so this could mean that more ingredients = more health benefits! Although, with proprietary blends being used, that may not be the case.

Proprietary blends are such a problem because the only people that actually know the amounts of each ingredient within the formula are the people that create the formula for Athletic Greens. This means that customers will never be able to figure out how much of each ingredient resides within the formula and therefore it’s impossible to know if the ingredients are actually sufficiently added.

Athletic Greens supplement label

A lot of the time, brands use proprietary blends because it means that they don’t actually have to add a sufficient amount of each ingredient, but the long list of powerful ingredients entices customers and makes them buy the product, so they’re winning without having to put a lot of effort into making sure each ingredient is properly dosed!

The only good thing about the Athletic Greens formula that gives me hope is the fact that the blends are more heavily weighted than other brands on the market.

For example, the Alkaline, Nutrient-Dense, Raw Superfood Complex weighs 7.4g, which in comparison to the Detox Organic blends is significantly greater.

However, the Athletic Greens formula does contain so many ingredients, so the fact that the proprietary blends are heavily weighted probably actually doesn’t make that much of a difference.

There are most likely still ingredients within this formula that are underdosed.

Detox Organics Vs Athletic Greens Taste

Detox Organics

As mentioned previously, Detox Organics isn’t only very popular due to the fact that it contains organic ingredients and can be used as a meal replacement, but people also love the taste of the formula!

To be honest, I would hope that the formula was popular due to this seeing as the brand uses half of the formula for flavor!

Detox Organics tastes like a chocolate milkshake, and the brand actually suggests that consumers mix it with milk or yogurt for a really enjoyable shake.

I have tried the Detox Organics formula and I have to say that I’m not crazy about the taste, but then again, I do like my supplements and healthy powders to actually taste like they’re healthy for me.

Detox Organics Chocolate Superfood

Athletic Greens

I have used Athletic Greens in the past and to be honest, I am a really big fan of the taste! In fact, so much so that I put Athletic Greens at the top of my best tasting greens powders list!

Athletic Greens isn’t actually specifically flavored in the way that Detox Organics is, but the brand has definitely focused on perfecting the taste of the formula.

Athletic Greens are sweetened with stevia and flavored using papaya, broccoli, carrot, cherry, pineapple, and vanilla.

I think this formula is really pleasant tasting, but due to the appeal of the chocolatey taste of the Detox Organics formula, I think a lot of people would prefer that one over this one!

Detox Organics Vs Athletic Greens Cost

Detox Organics

The Detox Organics formula comes in pouches that contain 30-servings. One pouch of Detox Organics costs $59.95, meaning the cost per serving works out at $2.00.

You can receive a 10% discount when buying the formula if you choose to sign up for a subscription, which would obviously bring the cost per serving of the formula down to $1.80.

Although this formula isn’t extremely expensive, it’s not extremely cheap either. I would say that this price is mid-low on the super greens market.

However, since half of the formula is made up of flavoring ingredients and proprietary blends are present, I would say that the formula is expensive for what it is.

Athletic Greens

Just like Detox Organics, Athletic Greens comes in a pouch containing 30 servings. However, Athletic Greens is much more expensive than Detox Organics, and other super greens formulas on the market.

One pouch of Athletic Greens costs $97, which works out at a cost per serving of $3.23.

If you choose to subscribe to the formula on a monthly membership you can save 21%, meaning the cost per serving goes down to $2.56.

Again, since the formula is made from proprietary blends, I think this formula is overpriced, and I’m not alone – a lot of customers and potential customers think the Athletic Greens formula is just too pricey!

Same serving size but less ingredients in higher amounts! Check out how my brand stacks up in my Athletic Greens vs SuperGreen TONIK comparison.

Detox Organics Vs Athletic Greens: Which is Better?

To be completely honest, as someone that really values transparency, I am not a huge fan of either of these formulas because they use proprietary blends and don’t have fully disclosed ingredients labels.

However, saying that, I do have to say that the Athletic Greens formula wins this comparison by a long shot.

The fact that half of the Detox Organics formula is flavoring ingredients is a really huge problem for me, and I just don’t see the same amount of dense nutrition within the Detox Organics formula.

Although the Athletic Greens formula is a little more expensive and still contains proprietary blends, in my eyes, it’s a better formula.

Overall though, if you are looking for a super greens formula, please do make sure you’re choosing a formula that has a fully disclosed ingredients label, such as SuperGreen TONIK – transparency and sufficiently dosed ingredients are essential factors of a good super greens formula.
