Joe Rogan Supplements

Joe Rogan is a comedian, fight commentator, fitness geek, and world-famous podcaster. Oh, and one more thing: his own website professes he’s also a “psychedelic adventurer.” In this guide, I’ll be going over the Joe Rogan Supplements routine.

Rogan is also quite the athlete himself, having trained in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, Karate, and other modalities since he was a kid.

At 55 years old, he sports a better physique than the vast majority of men twenty years younger than him!

Joe credits his athleticism to dedication, consistent training…and plenty of supplements.

Here are the details of his personal supplement routine.

Joe Rogan’s Top Supplements

Thankfully for all you biohackers and fitness enthusiasts out there, Joe goes into great detail on his supplement use on his ultra-successful podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.

Some of his top choices include omega 3’s, vitamins, minerals, protein powder, nootropics, and adaptogens.

Joe also has the ability to learn directly from the numerous health experts he regularly has on his show.

Whether he’s speaking to anti-aging experts like Dr. Rhonda Patrick or Dr. David Sinclair, keto diet experts like Dr. Petter Attia, or virologists like Dr. Robert Malone, you can bet Joe — and his listeners — are learning something! Joe often tries out the supplements and practices his guests recommend before deciding to put them into practice.

In this article, I’ll closely examine some of Joe’s top supplement recommendations over the years.

While we can’t know exactly what he’s taking in 2022, the following recommendation’s probably got pretty close.

Joe Rogan’s Top Omega-3 Supplements

Joe is a big fan of omega-3 fatty acids, which he recommends getting through fish oil or krill oil.

Transparent Labs Krill Oil

Transparent Labs Krill Oil

Transparent Labs’ Krill Oil is designed to provide your body with a natural blend of EPA, DHA, and other essential fatty acids.

Studies show these fatty acids may:

  • Improve skin health
  • Improve heart health
  • Improve insulin sensitivity
  • Improve joint health and mobility
  • Alleviate the signs and symptoms of type-2 diabetes
  • Counteract the inflammation caused by unhealthy omega-6 fats
  • Protect against neurodegeneration
  • Improve neurological function
  • Reduce overall inflammation

Why does Rogan favor Transparent Labs’ Krill Oil over the numerous alternatives available?

While ‘regular’ fish oil usually contains a 12% DHA/18% EPA blend, this Krill Oil contains up to 22 times more free fatty acids.

The omega 3’s in Transparent Labs’ Krill Oil are also more bioavailable than what you’d get from the average fish oil product.

Joe Rogan’s Top Nootropic Supplements

Joe Rogan is a big fan of nootropics.

Actually, that might be an understatement.

It’s probably more accurate to say he’s a huge fan of them.

Rogan explained on a podcast episode:

There’s a bunch of different nootropics I use. I use 3 different companies, one that’s one of mine (AlphaBrain), and then two that are other companies…Neuro1, and another one called TruBrain.

Below is more info on some of Joe’s favorite brain-boosters.

TruBrain Nootropic Drinks

TruBrain Nootropic Drinks

TruBrain’s Nootropic Drink was first mentioned on JRE podcast episode #629 when Rogan interviewed the product’s creator, Dr. Hill.

Check out that episode for yourself if you’re interested in the science behind TruBrain because in it Rogan and Dr. Hill dive deep!

One of the nice things about TruBrain’s Nootropic Drink is its convenience.

The product comes in single-serving pouches that make getting your daily dose super easy.

TruBrain gets its power from caffeine, L-Theanine, Magnesium, and Centrophenoxine (a choline receptor agonist).

TruBrain is designed to be taken daily, preferably in the morning, and it can easily be used in conjunction with other nootropic products.

ONNIT Alpha Brain Instant

ONNIT Alpha Brain Instant

Before getting into the details surrounding Alpha Brain, I should let you know that Joe Rogan is a partial owner of ONNIT.

While that might make it hard for him to stay fully unbiased when making product recommendations, it’s also possible that Rogan’s involvement in ONNIT is simply a result of his belief in the company’s products!

The reason Joe takes Alpha Brain is simple: it helps him think better.

He explained in a Tweet:

It seems to fire up your brain at a higher RPM level, I feel like it helps me form sentences better.

Alpha Brain’s power comes from its handpicked blend of amino acids, nootropics, and other brain-boosting compounds.

Among many other things, it contains:

  • L-Theanine
  • Vinpocetine
  • Huperzine A
  • Bacopa Monnieri

Alpha Brain is also one of the few supplements of its kind that’s been clinically tested.

While these tests were small, they did indicate that Alpha Brain may boost mental performance, memory, and focus.

Alpha Brain is designed to be taken each morning, but you can take it at any time of the day.

ONNIT Emulsified MCT Oil

ONNIT Emulsified MCT Oil

ONNIT’s MCT oil serves dual purposes: it adds a nice creaminess to your drink and delivers energizing medium-chain fats to your brain!

Perhaps it’s no surprise that Joe mentions this product on his podcast just about every chance he gets.

For those unfamiliar, MCT oil is rich in special fatty acids that are metabolized differently than most other fats.

Its quick metabolization means MCT oil can provide a tangible energy boost to your body and mind.

Rogan likes to mix ONNIT’s MCT Oil into his morning coffee, a blend he refers to as “rocket fuel.”

Other ONNIT supplements I have reviewed you may be interested in:

ONNIT New Mood

ONNIT New Mood

ONNIT’s New Mood was first mentioned in JRE podcast episode #845.

Rogan says this product helped normalize his serotonin levels, resulting in a more stable, happier mood.

New Mood gets its power from a combination of tryptophan and 5-HTP, serotonin precursors that your body readily converts to the “feel-good hormone” once ingested.

Important side note: serotonin isn’t unconditionally helpful. You don’t want to produce too much of it, so don’t go crazy with New Mood or other 5-HTP-containing supplements.

Neuro1 Brain Performance Drink

Neuro1 Brain Performance Drink

Neuro1 is a brain-boosting supplement first mentioned in JRE podcast episode #1234.

Former NFL player Bill Romanowski designed this particular supplement after he began feeling like his memory was fading after one too many hard hits.

Bill utilized the help of medical doctors and neurologists en route to making this cognition-enhancing blend.

His team designed the product to center around L-glutamine, an essential amino acid that helps facilitate neurotransmission between brain cells. (Source)

ONNIT Earth Grown Nutrients

ONNIT Earth Grown Nutrients

Joe is also a pretty big fan of superfoods.

One such ONNIT product promises to combine superfoods, probiotics, and adaptogens: the ONNIT Earth Grown Nutrients blend.

This product is designed to promote cognitive function from the insight out, beginning with improved gut health.

And, just like greens powders, many people use Earth Grown Nutrients to round out their vitamin and mineral intake when they’re on the road or too busy to cook. (Source)

Joe Rogan’s Top Superfoods

ONNIT Spirulina & Chlorella

ONNIT Spirulina & Chlorella

Joe Rogan is an advocate of ONNIT’s increasingly-popular Spirulina and Chlorella blend, too.

This blend features a full spectrum of vegan-friendly amino acids…and that’s just the start.

Spirulina and Chlorella may:

  • Promote proper pH
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Promote collagen synthesis
  • Regulate skin bacteria balance
  • Assist with blood sugar regulation

Joe Rogan’s Top Adaptogen/Athletic Supplements

Yet another type of supplement Joe Rogan is enthusiastic about?

Athlete-specific ones.

One of his favorites is Pure Encapsulations’ Athletic Pure Pack.

Pure Encapsulations Athletic Pure Pack

Pure Encapsulations Athletic Pure Pack

Athletic Pure Pack is a high-quality multivitamin — one that’s made specifically for athletes.

It features a wide variety of vitamins, minerals, and trace nutrients, most of them present in quantities far above your daily RDA.

Athletic Pure Pack is also unique because it’s not a single capsule but a pack of 9 capsules, including CoQ10, omega-3s, and creatine.

That’s a lot of pills to swallow!

Joe Rogan, however, claims that this protocol is more than worth it if you’re an elite athlete who wants to perform at your absolute best.

Related: I haven't reviewed the Athletic Pure pack (yet), but I found their Ashwa supplement to be one of the best ashwagandha supplement, if you're looking for just this adaptogen and nothing else.

ONNIT Shroom Tech Sport

ONNIT Shroom Tech Sport

Shroom Tech Sport is — you guessed it — yet another popular ONNIT product.

This one is made from a handful of mushroom extracts, including Cordyceps Sinensis mushroom extract.

Shroom Tech also contains antioxidants and vitamin B12. ONNIT’s own small trials show that Shroom Tech may increase athletic power and endurance, a sentiment echoed by many happy customers.

Joe Rogan: Top Vitamins/Minerals

Thorne Research Vitamin D3

Thorne Research Vitamin D3

Like his frequent podcast guest Dr. Rhonda Patrick, Rogan is a big fan of vitamin D3.

There’s a reason for his enthusiasm: vitamin D is one of the most important vitamins of all, yet also one that people are commonly deficient in.

Very few foods contain vitamin D3, and very few people have access to the year-round sunlight needed to synthesize it themselves.

Adequate vitamin D is important on so many levels.

It may help:

  • Maintain muscular strength
  • Soften and nourish the skin
  • Promote strong, healthy bones
  • Raise and regulate innate immunity

If you can’t get out in the sun year-round, vitamin D3 supplements are a good choice.

Joe takes his D3 each evening per Dr. Rhonda Patrick's and others' recommendations.

Nature’s Plus Super C Complex

Nature’s Plus Super C Complex

Joe Rogan is also a big fan of vitamin C, and with good reason — this particular vitamin is essential, yet your body still can’t produce it.

It’s for this reason that vitamin C supplementation can be so important.

‘Regular’ C supplements are often poorly absorbed because absorption speed acts as a rate-limiting factor.

Joe Rogan’s Joint Support Picks

Being as active as he is, it’s no real surprise that Joe Rogan is a huge advocate for joint support supplements.

Some of his favorites include glucosamine and MSM.

365 Glucosamine Chondroitin & MSM

365 Glucosamine Chondroitin & MSM

In addition to practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, Karate, and other arts, Joe enjoys Cross-Fit, weightlifting, and plenty of kettlebell swings.

How’s he manage it all without getting injured?

The answer may lie in Glucosamine Chondroitin and MSM. Both these compounds are thought to improve joint health by lubricating the spaces around the joints, resulting in more mobility in the long run.

365 Health makes a joint support product rich in both compounds, and Joe is a big fan.

Ketogenic Supplements

Kegenix Prime

Kegenix Prime

Throughout the years Joe Rogan has experimented with all sorts of diets, including keto, carnivore, and plant-based ways of eating.

However, one thing he keeps returning to repeatedly is the health benefits of ketosis.

Keto supplments like Kegenix Prime allow one to experience many of keto’s top health benefits without overtly limiting carb intake — a win-win scenario that would’ve been hard to imagine decades ago.

Kegenix Prime combines MCT powder with BHB salts to maximize ketone production and energy levels.

This duo may also help your body tap into its fat reserves, improving your body composition in the long run.

Customers report greater amounts of mental clarity, too.

Is Joe Rogan Still A Fan Of AG1?

Truly devoted JRE fans will know that Joe Rogan has recommended AG1, better known as Athletic Greens, in the past.

Does he still?

From everything I’ve gathered, the answer is a resounding yes.

AG1 is also supported by many other health and wellness celebrities, including Dr. Andrew Huberman, Tim Ferris, and others.

Joe Rogan’s Top Supplements: Summing Things Up

Joe Rogan may be a somewhat polarizing figure, but there’s no doubt that his podcast succeeds at what it’s trying to do: have honest, nuanced discussions about tough subjects.

Given that there aren’t many topics more nuanced than nutrition, perhaps the details of Joe’s supplement routine are more significant than they seem. It’s been honed from the advice of hundreds of health enthusiasts and experts, after all!

  1. Hi Adam,
what a great blog. I’m really enjoying it. In a complete coincidence, I’ve just recently started researching emigration to Malaysia when I noticed that you live in Malaysia yourself.

Anyway, keep up the great work.
