Steel Greens review

Steel Greens Review: Ingredients, Dosages, Serving Costs

Steel Greens is powdered superfood greens and reds supplement that has a nutrient-dense to help fuel your active lifestyle.

In contrast to many popular brands like AG1, Steel Greens and Reds choose to include fewer ingredients in their formula and highlight the individual weights of each ingredient.

This is fantastic and exactly what I look for in a greens (or reds), or in fact, any supplement I wish to take.

If you're considering trying this supplement then read my Steel Greens review to see if this is the answer to filling any gaps in your diet.

What is Steel Greens?

Steel Fit launched Steel Greens in 2020 to complement their existing supplement and fitness products.

The formula contains a mix of well-known greens and reds ingredients combined with probiotics and digestive enzymes.

Although missing some of the popular adaptogens seen in other popular greens brands, it does include some familiar ingredients such as Spinach, Kale, and Chlorella.

This brand is one of the few products that list all the ingredient amounts on their label – a very welcome surprise!

Background on Steel Fit USA

Steel Fit is a skin fitness and sports nutrition supplement store based in Florida founded by father-son duo Stacy and Rob Kaufman.

Starting in 2015, Steel Fit has grown to stock a wide range of supplements to support your fitness goals be it weight loss, muscle building, sleep, and looking younger.

I counted over 40 different brands on their website.

Steel Greens Ingredients

The Steel Greens formula is split into four separate blends; Organic Greens Blend (10 ingredients), Organic Reds Blend (6 ingredients), Digestive Health and Absorption Blend (1 ingredient), and Probiotic Support blend (1 ingredient).

In total there are 18 ingredients in this supplement that fit inside a 9.5-gram serving.

Most superfood supplements stick with either a predominantly greens or reds formula but Steel Greens includes both. I reviewed a brand that did the same a few months ago, 1UPNutrition Greens and Reds, although unlike this brand they didn't reveal their ingredient dosages.

Talking of which, I am very happy to see that Steel Greens reveal the exact ingredient amounts in their formula, see below.

Here is the complete list of Steel Greens ingredients:

  • Organic Greens Blend (5000mg) – Organic Spinach Powder (500mg), Organic Parsley Powder (500mg), Organic Kale Powder (500mg), Organic Barley Grass (500mg), Organic Chlorella Powder (500mg), Organic Bell Powder (500mg), Organic Green Apple (500mg), Organic Banana Powder (500mg), Organic Sweet Potato (500mg), Organic Broccoli Powder (500mg)
  • Organic Reds Blend. (2500mg) – Organic Raspberry Powder (625mg), Organic Bluberry Powder (375mg), Organic Strawberry Powder (375mg), Organic Cherry Powder (375mg), Organic Pomegrante Powder (375mg), Organic Cranberry Powder (375mg)
  • Digestive Health and Absorption Blend – Kiwifruit Powder (250mg), DigeZyme® (150mg)
  • Probiotic Support blend – LactoSpore® (2 Billion CFUs)

There is no mention of the number of vitamins and minerals in this formula although there will be some in the greens and red ingredients.

Here is the supplement facts label:

Other ingredients in the formula include; Citric Acid, Inulin, Natural Flavor, and Stevia Extract.

Tip: If you struggle to decipher the nutritional facts on supplements then it's worth heading over to my read supplement labels like a pro article.

How does Steel Greens Taste?

Steel Greens and Reds come in three flavors; Mixed Berry, Pineapple Ginger, and Watermelon Mint. The “Mixed Berry” appears to be out of stock at the time of writing my review.

Both sound great as I am a fan of all these flavors.

To mix is really simple, just add one serving (one level scoop) of Steel Greens to a shaker cup or blender filled with 8-12 fl. oz. of cold water or your favorite beverage (adjust for taste preferences) and mix thoroughly.

Steel Greens is not the best tasting superfood supplement I have tried but it's certainly not the worse. With the two flavor options, it's likely you will like one or the other.

Side Effects

There are unlikely to be any side effects from consuming Steel Greens. You are advised to only consume once per day.

As with any supplement, if you have any pre-existing medical condition or are taking prescription medication then you should first seek medical advice before taking this brand.

Do Steel Greens Work?

Readers of my blog will know the effectiveness of any supplement is down to its ingredients, and most importantly its dosages.

Looking at the main blend in this formula, the 5g of Greens and Fruit powder, this contains 10 ingredients you will most likely be familiar with, such as Spinach, Kale, and Chlorella.

Each ingredient in this blend weighs 500mg and although this seems like a decent dosage for most of these ingredients you simply need more.

For example, to enjoy the benefits of Chlorella you need to consume AT LEAST 1.2-3 grams per day Healthline.

Overall, there is an okay amount of greens in this formula, it would have been better to include fever ingredients and instead bump up the individual dosage to be sure you're consuming enough.

Red berries

Next up is there 2.5g combination of six different organic reds that include a bunch of berries (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, etc).

Berries are a great source of antioxidants and polyphenols and the reason why you find these in powdered red superfoods.

the dosages of the berries in this formula are nearly double those seen in some reds formulas

We see the dosages of the berries in this formula are nearly double those seen in some reds formulas (looking at you Vital Reds!), which means you're definitely getting more value for money with Steel Greens.

So on to the probiotics in Steel Greens.

I make no secret of the fact that I am not a fan of probiotics in greens supplements.

This is because probiotics are incredibly delicate nutrients and when placed within multi-ingredient formulas can reduce their effectiveness.

On top of this, how well you store probiotics will impact their bioavailability of them too. This is one of the reasons why greens should be refrigerated when opened and not pre-mixed for the next days' consumption.

Steel Greens Reviews

I like to check out where possible a brands' Amazon Store to get customer feedback. There are only 16 reviews so far for the brand and so it looks to be very new.

So far the feedback is good though.

The Amazon rating is 4.9 out of 5 although with more reviews this will likely change. We can only see two reviews so far.

I was sent the wrong flavor, but it tastes good, so I'll keep it! I feel like this has helped regulate my digestion a bit already and it's only been a week. I've been taking 1 scoop in the morning with water. Haven't noticed other effects quite yet, but less bloating was my main goal, so I am happy so far.5-stars

Si good5-stars

On the website, there are 326 reviews for Steel Greens. These are ALL positive reviews rating 4 or 5 stars.

Money-Back Guarantee / Returns Policy

Steel Fit offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on all products ordered through their official website. There is no mention on the website if this applies to open tubs or whether they only accept unused sealed tubs.

Where to buy Steel Greens?

You can buy Steel greens directly from the Steel Fit online shop and on their Amazon Store.

Is It Worth The Price?

Each tub costs a very reasonable $39.95 for 30-servings with free shipping for all US orders.

This is a good price for a greens supplement and fits in with the average price of a greens powder.

The serving size is a little smaller than the more premium brands like Supergreen Tonik and AG1, but is larger than others (Bulletproof Greens) that have smaller serving sizes.

The daily cost of $1.33 Steel Greens is reasonably good value for money.

Verdict on Steel Greens

Steel Greens and Reds is a decent product that discloses the ingredient weights in the formula.

The dosages are a little low for most of the ingredients but the money this is a decent price and would suit those looking for greens on a budget.

In summary, the price is affordable and contains a nice mixture of both greens and reds in the formula and could be a good choice to cover any nutritional gaps in your diet.
