Manta Sleep First Impressions

The Manta Sleep website is packed with informative content about sleep and sleep hygiene, it’s clear, concise, and nicely designed.

The Manta Sleep masks are all pretty bulky and not exactly super stylish, but at least they’re smart, neutrally colored, and soft. Classic eye masks look incredibly basic, so at least these look a little more high-end and durable.

Background on Manta Sleep

Manta Sleep was founded in 2016 by Mark Zhang. Zhang founded the company and designed the sleep mask collection to help people optimize their sleep, whether they’re sleeping on a plane for a few hours or trying to have a full 8 hours of sleep at home.

As well as the traditional Manta Sleep mask, the company also produces weighted, cooling, aroma, steam, blue light-blocking glasses, travel pillows, body pillows, and snore nose vents.

Manta Sleep Benefits

Manta Sleep claims that, unlike other eye masks, the Manta Sleep mask is the world’s comfiest 100% blackout sleep mask to help you nap, sleep at night, or sleep on the go!

The eye masks provide the wearer with complete darkness, are fully adjustable and breathable, put zero pressure on the eyelids, and boost REM and deep sleep.

Specifically, the company suggests using eye masks during the day to have an afternoon nap, claiming that napping is one of the best ways to boost your energy.

Is Napping Actually Beneficial?

Since Manta Sleep promotes its sleep masks based on the claim that daytime napping is beneficial, let’s consider whether it really is.

Research has shown that naps can actually provide both physical and mental health benefits. However, there are certain drawbacks of napping and some dos and don’ts.

Short naps can improve memory, increase performance, boost mood, reduce stress, and boost energy.

However, napping may also cause sleep inertia (meaning you will feel groggy upon waking), making sleeping harder at night.

To make sure you benefit from napping, keep your naps short (10-20 minutes maximum), and don’t sleep past 3 pm.

Overall, napping may be beneficial when done properly, and using a Manta Sleep mask to fall asleep quickly makes it easier for you to fit a quick nap into your day.

How Does Manta Sleep Work?

Manta Sleep is supposed to promote better sleep by providing you with darkness whilst you nap during the day.

Manta Sleep is super simple – it’s an eye mask that creates complete darkness for you wherever you are.

The brand specifically claims that napping during the day has certain benefits and that Manta Sleep can help you experience these benefits.

Manta Sleep is super simple – it’s an eye mask that creates complete darkness for you wherever you are.

I find this particularly helpful, as falling asleep in a dark environment is an important factor in both how fast I fall asleep and how soundly I sleep.

Manta Sleep isn’t just good for people that sleep on their back, though, which is great.

Since the masks have eyecups and mold uniquely to your face, even if you sleep on your side or your stomach, the mask will stay on and provide darkness.

Does Manta Sleep Actually Help You Sleep?

Personally, I think Manta Sleep is great if you’re someone that naps during the day. Obviously, if you’re trying to sleep during the day, you will need to shut out the light, and this eye mask definitely does that.

In comparison to traditional eye masks that are generally thin, fall off, and let light in, the Manta Sleep mask is incomparable – it’s great and will definitely help you sleep better if you’re someone that naps in the day or you’re seriously affected by light at night.

I think Manta Sleep is a good product!

However, I think other sleep products can be more beneficial in promoting better, deeper, and longer sleep.

For example, I use the Oura Ring to track my sleep – I think it’s been highly beneficial at improving my sleep since it’s made me more aware of my sleep schedule, and helped me better understand my sleep patterns whilst I sleep.

Does Manta Sleep Work?

The Manta Sleep mask is available on Amazon, and therefore, we can take a look at a selection of honest reviews of the product on there!

The Manta Sleep mask has an insane amount of reviews – it has 7,442 ratings at the time of writing this review and scores an overall rating of 4.6 stars out of 5 stars.

So, let’s take a look at some of these reviews!

This product was recommended to me by a friend who is into bio-hacking. I have a lot of computer lights that annoy me at night, and I think the light pollution causes me poor sleep. I tried this product and I found that it did help me get better quality sleep. I feel less tired when I wake up. It is comfortable to wear most nights, however, once or twice I have had the strap placement on my ear cause my ear to hurt (but fixing it was just moving the strap). Overall I give this 5 stars because it does what I need it to do which is be comfortable and block out the light pollution in my room at night.
5-star review

The idea is great in theory but in execution it's just an overpriced eye mask. The velcro looses it's stick after a short period of time, the cups don't create the “seal” they are advertised too and you just end up paying extra for what is ultimately just a gimmick. Save yourself some time and money and just go with a basic classic satin eye mask. It will do just fine and will work just as well if not better for a significantly lower price point.3-star review

I hated this eye shade! 1. I had to continually adjust the eye foam cushion so there was no light shining in however, when I roll one side to another, I still saw stabs of light shining through, (2) in order minimize the light, I had to strap on the eye shade tightly which still shifted when I moved around, and (3) I felt my eyes had “sweated” because it was tightly covered. It just wasn't for me.1-star review

Where to buy Manta Sleep?

You can buy Manta Sleep on the Manta Sleep website and Amazon.

Is It Worth The Price?

The original Manta Sleep mask costs $35 and offers free shipping in the USA. I think this is a very reasonable price for a high-quality mask that molds to your face uniquely and that you can use repeatedly.

However, there are different Manta Sleep masks at different prices.

For example, the silk version of the mask is $69. In my opinion, if you want to purchase the more expensive sleep masks, I would say that they’re a little overpriced.

My Final Verdict

There is no doubt that Manta Sleep is a popular eye mask that does the job for many nappers around the world.

Manta Sleep masks are made from great material, they’re durable and long-lasting, they’re comfortable to wear, and they’re inexpensive.

Therefore, overall, I think the Manta Sleep mask is beneficial, and if you are someone that naps during the day, it could be a great idea for you to invest in a Manta Sleep mask!
